Samarkand is an expensive city, you will go to any cafe and leave half your salary, I do not advise you to go to Samarkand, it is better to go to Bukhara or Khorezm. It's a wonderful place. We went to lunch during a break at the Central State University opposite from 13:00 to 14:00. We took the usual portion of pilaf and tea. We are a couple - the portion was quite enough for two. I had enough satiety for the whole day. Meat is different: there is a bone, there is a fat. And rice: it's a pleasure.
