We went to Milano Central on the White Arrow - a good train for 22 euros (second class) with a decent buffet. It takes 1 hour and twenty minutes, half an hour less than the cheaper (12.7 euros) regional train (which does not have air conditioning even in summer). Therefore, it is better to overpay a little and get there comfortably.
