The Church of St. Jerome (San Jeronimo el Real) is located next to the Prado Museum. It was built in 1505 as the main temple of the monastery of the Order of St. Jerome. The staircase facing the street was built in 1906 on the occasion of the wedding of King Alfonso XIII. In 1975, Juan Carlos I, the father of the current King of Spain, was crowned in this church.
