Abbas Ağa Park is a historical park located in Besiktas district of Istanbul, Turkey. The area where the park is located was previously known as Abbas Agha Cemetery. The park is located in the Cihannuma neighborhood. Abbasaga park is like an oasis, it is a place frequented by many people. This is not an ordinary park, as you might think. the story begins in 1939. There were two cemeteries in Besiktas district. The present location of one of the cemeteries is Abbasaga Park. The land of the cemetery was purchased by Güreğ Manuelyan in 1776. in 1849, Garabet was surrounded by a wall by Amira Balyan. Armenian Patriarch Harutyun Vehabedian, who wanted to confiscate the land, II. He stopped the expropriation by writing a petition to Abdulhamid on March 4, 1887. The Sultan decided to keep the cemetery in the hands of the Armenian community and protect the existing graves, but to demolish the walls and turn the land into a garden. the cemetery land, which remained deserted until the 1930s, was expropriated in accordance with the decision of Istanbul Governor Lutfi Kırdar in 1939 and turned into Abbasağa Park. The other cemetery in the district was located at the Yildiz intersection connecting to the Bosphorus Bridge and was expropriated and destroyed while Barbaros Boulevard was being built.
