I studied at the Prague Educational Center for a summer language program.
In general, I liked the training, however, the level of training in English was low. I was bored with my grammar school English language training. It would be possible to test the quality of students' basic knowledge of English and assign people to appropriate groups.
The Czech language was excellent, it was very interesting, and learning was not difficult at all.
The events were held perfectly, if it was not possible to get to one place, something else was immediately organized. In my opinion, the composition of the events does not need to be adjusted. We have seen everything that was promised to be shown.
I liked the living conditions. The hotel is good, everything is new, everything works, there were no problems with anything. The only inconvenient thing was that they gave one key per room, so sometimes it was difficult to find a neighbor to get into the room, but you could ask the guard to open the room, they never refused.
The food was decent, the lunches were full, the food was delicious. If you are not too lazy to cook your own food, you can do without additional paid dinners. There were not enough pots and pans for proper cooking of dinners. The kitchens are open until 10 p.m., if you ask the curator, you can sit until 11, but it very rarely happens. You can buy pizza, boil sausages in a kettle ;), you can have dinner in a restaurant, but that's how anyone likes it.
I have no comments or suggestions on the design.
It is a very interesting program, if someone is interested in studying in the Czech Republic, then you can start with it. I really liked our curator Maxim.
I really liked the Linguatime School of English! I have heard a lot of reviews about her from students who studied at other schools, and from my Maltese family - all the reviews are only positive! And indeed, the school is great! I'm probably lucky with the teachers too! They've changed a lot, but they're all very good. Interesting lessons. Friendly attitude towards students, and they always, always helped.
After the program, I started speaking English! And as it turned out, it's not that bad for me. Of course, to work and work on it, but still. Now the only drawback at home is that there is no practice again, but I read and watch films in English.
To be honest, I didn't book any events or excursions at school. Other students and I have seen the whole of Malta on our own. It was much cheaper.
And I was also very, very lucky again with the Maltese family I lived with. She was amazing! On the very first day of my arrival (it was Sunday), the family took us (me and another student who already lived with them) to Valletta. We walked all day, and then we went to the Maltese food exhibition, where I tasted, so to speak, a lot of Maltese cuisine. In general, the host-mother cooked very well. And the family is friendly. For example, there was such a case, I left for Sicily at 3 a.m., and she left breakfast for me without any problems in the evening and also made a packed lunch! My friend from Germany said that she could not eat at all in the family, because it was not tasty. And when we left for Sicily, they didn't even feed her, saying it was too late.
I want to say a big thank you for helping me always and in everything! Advised! Thank you for my trip to Malta. I will contact you again!
Thank you to the Academlux company for their help in applying for the youth program at Brooke House Summer School. The training lasted 2 weeks.
The training program
I really liked the English classes, as the main focus was on the development of communication skills. In addition, the friendly atmosphere in the classroom encouraged children to learn the language. This, of course, is the merit of Simone, whose lessons Irena attended with great pleasure.
Events
The most important thing for me is the fact that the children were busy all day and they didn't have much time for phones and tablets. I especially liked the sports events (rafting and cycling). The most memorable were excursions to London, the Harry Potter Museum and a trip to an amusement park.
Accommodation and meals
Good living conditions. The city where the college is located is small but cozy. The college is located in the city center, so all shops and cafes are within walking distance. The food is a little unusual for our children, but it is acceptable for two weeks.
There are no comments on the registration process of our program.
Studied for 4 weeks at the Linguatime School of English. In general, everything is great! Technically, the school is very well equipped, but some of the teachers treat their work, to put it mildly, superficially. Thank heaven for the fact that this is more than compensated by teachers "by vocation", it is worth noting that I am only talking about Linguatime employees with whom I directly communicated. The curriculum is quite standard.
I did not participate in the entertainment offered by the school.
On my own, I can add: the sea and nature (especially on small islands) are simply amazing! It is definitely worth a trip to Gozo Island and Comino Island, the beauty is unreal! And do not listen to those who advise (in order to save money) to take a taxi to Gozo Island and the driver will take you to all places and show and tell everything, nonsense, local taxi drivers compose the "History of Malta" on the go (verified). Personally, it is better for me to take a full-fledged tour for the whole day, with transport, meals and a guide.
The pleasant cost of public transport: a full–day ticket is 1.5 euros. But transport does not always run according to schedule. To my surprise, there is a traffic jam problem in Malta.
Even in the tourist area, prices in cafes are tolerable, and if you wander deep into the city, it's generally great. And in all cafes and restaurants there are just giant portions.
Paceville is a place of endless parties))) Noisy, fun, crowded. There is a cinema with subtitles in the same area, the ticket costs 7 euros.
I lived in the Aprilia apartments. Not 5*, but you can live (personally, I was lucky with the neighbors, there were no problems).
To school 6 min walk, beach (stone) across the street, supermarket 3 min walk, to Paceville 30 min walk, to Valletta 20 min by bus.
Periodically, the WI-FI did not work. In the morning, the water pressure is weak and it is barely warm, in the evening there are no problems with hot water.
I wouldn't go to Malta to study anymore, but for a week off – YES!
Of my three teachers, two clearly disliked this job. They never corrected mistakes in speech if a student tried to explain or tell something (especially the Germans: their speech, although fluent, is German-Chinese with an English accent), so the teacher understood what this German was talking about and well, and what the rest of the students in the class could understand only fragments phrases – nobody cares (Michaela, David). Although the guys spoke very well about two teachers (Lino, Kristina, I think), but I did not have a chance to study with them.
But here's a separate hello for Mario. Very funny and charming grandpa. And I think he is a very interesting teacher.
Enforex / Colegio Galileo Valencia Camp / Valencia (youth program for ages 13-18)
Residence accommodation (FB meals) – duration 2 weeks.
I rate the training highly. There were 80 questions in the test and the last questions were difficult to answer. This was due not so much to my knowledge, but rather to accumulated fatigue. Perhaps this is what prevented me from getting to a higher level in learning Spanish (as I found out later). The teachers were great. I liked that the classroom environment was not tense. This contributed to a better assimilation of the material. In general, everything was fine with me!
All the events were very interesting. I especially liked trips to other cities or to the mountains. I also really enjoyed the excursions around Valencia itself. Perhaps some freedom during the events contributed to this, because almost all the trips gave us time to explore the sights ourselves. I really liked contests and parties in the evenings. True, some excursions had to be paid for (water park-25 euros, aquarium-15 euros, museum-5 euros, shopping-2 euros), but it was worth it and was optional.
The living conditions were really cool. The rooms were cleaned about once every 2-3 days. The room had air conditioning and fairly fast wi-fi. As for the bathroom and toilet, the conditions there were also very good. The food was delicious, except for lunch. Lunch was often monotonous. A bottle of cold water was always given for lunch and dinner. Fast food (French fries, pizza, etc.) was often served for dinner.
Adult EC English School from 16 years and older (St.Julian's)
Intensive English course 30 lessons per week. Accommodation in student apartments. The duration is 2 weeks.
I took English Intensive lessons (4.5 hours a day, 5 days a week) in Malta for 2 weeks (June 29 – July 13). I really enjoyed studying at EC!
Native-speaking teachers from London, Canada, Malta. My level was Advanced, so the main focus was on discussing various topics (speaking). During the two weeks of the course, it became easier for me to communicate in English - the eternal fear and thoughts of incorrect pronunciation and grammatically correct sentence construction almost disappeared.
Students come to the school from the most remote corners of the world (Brazil, Japan, Switzerland, Germany, Turkey, etc.). Therefore, an integral part of learning is recognizing different accents, studying the culture of other countries, which is very interesting and informative. And of course, the acquisition of new acquaintances and friends.
I would love to go to the EC in Malta again, but for a longer period. After all, two weeks is really not enough to improve your English level. Also, for my level, I would not take General courses, but preparation for some kind of exam (IELTS, for example) + Intensive classes.
As well as an emphasis on communication to the maximum. It is necessary to communicate, communicate and communicate in order to really improve your English skills, attend all possible events. And, of course, completely eliminate communication in your native language.
I would like to change only one element – classes were held 2 times a week with an emphasis on grammar. The textbooks provided by the school to the Pre-advanced group were for the Upper-Intermediate level (English Result textbooks, Oxford University Press). In the main classes I was in the pre-advanced group, in the intensive classes I was in advanced.
However, it seemed that the textbooks were suitable for the maximum Intermediate level – the tasks were banal, easy, uninteresting (for example, correlate descriptions with a picture, etc.).
After contacting the teacher and the school administration, the textbooks were replaced with Speak out (Advanced). However, the sediment remained, time was lost. On the positive side, the administration responds to requests and tries to solve problems, albeit slowly.
As for the events in the EC, everything is very well organized, interesting and diverse. Every week, a list of events is offered from Monday to Sunday – from international parties with special offers from school and BBQ party to excursions to nearby cities, to other islands (Gozo, Comino) and to Sicily. Events change and are supplemented every week. Some excursions are conducted by the Program Manager of the Stanley Darien school – and this is a separate story (very interesting, informative).
Initially, I was supposed to live in the Drayton apartments (located right around the corner from the school in St.Julians). A week before arrival, the school changed them to Graham Court (about 20 minutes walk from the school, in Sliema) for an unknown reason. Upon arrival, it turned out that the Graham Court apartments were not ready to move in.
The next day (after spending the night at the Patricia School residence), they still wanted to put me up at Graham court. But there were 2 Russian-speaking girls living there, and I asked them to choose another option. Another option was a house on Santa Margarita in Sliema. A stunning 3-storey house, where only 3 people lived for the first week, then 7 people. The house itself is amazing, built in the 1920s, a typical Maltese house with a terrace, a balcony, high ceilings, columns…
However, we were the first students to be settled there, so the house had a lot of problems – lack of Internet, non-working refrigerators, complete lack of water, and then leaks in all bathrooms, not a complete set of dishes and that in not the best condition ... these were the main problems. They were gradually resolved, but not completely. The main details for future students: you will need an adapter for an outlet, which costs about 6 euros there. If possible, take care of this in advance. If the apartment is in St.Julians, it will be noisy (parties until the morning, a busy part of the city with clubs). If you are in Sliema, it takes 15-25 minutes to get to school, depending on the location, but it is quiet and peaceful. Requests for relocation are treated calmly, they are looking for new places, but it is not a fact that the new place will be better than the old one.
In general, the school made a very good impression, except for the disadvantages described above. I really liked the fact that they really try and want to get feedback from students, try to solve problems. It seems that all employees love their work. But every year the number of students is increasing, and it is difficult to cope with all the problems that arise.
I would like to sincerely thank the Academlux agency. The guys are professionals in their field. Special thanks to Sergey Romanchenko. He was my sensitive assistant and guide through the world of endless documents for applying for a student visa to the United States, which was successfully approved by me at the interview.
Sergey answered all my questions, even the stupidest ones. Being a meticulous and anxious person, I sometimes bombarded him with a variety of questions about documents, interviews and various organizational issues.
Sergey answered everything in detail and professionally with infinite patience.
At the same time, Academlux services are free, as they explained to me, they receive payment from schools, not from students.
I sincerely wish Academlux all the best, success, prosperity and expansion.
I'm sure I'll turn to them again, because with these guys you feel absolutely confident.
Kaplan International Colleges / Covent Garden London Campus.
Family accommodation (single occupancy, HB meals) - duration 3 weeks.
The training is conducted at a high level. Teachers focus on both grammar and spoken language. The material is also presented in the form of a game, which is interesting and effective for learning a language. I believe that there is no need to add or change anything to the learning process.
I took part in a football competition, I really liked it. However, I would like to see more sporting events throughout the week. As for excursions, I did not go on excursions organized by the college, for me it was more interesting to travel around London on my own, rather than going outside it.
I am satisfied with the accommodation and food conditions. The house had everything you needed: a separate room, a comfortable bed, a TV, a table for classes, washing clothes every week, a comfortable bathroom. The food was delicious and varied, and food preferences were taken into account. The hostess was hospitable and sociable.
There are no comments on the design of the program. Everything was done quickly.
Accommodation at the Chelsea Cloisters Hotel (meals SC) - duration 2 weeks.
During the learning process, according to the family program, most of the time is devoted to communication. The grammar is given in detail, but in a small volume. It is better if you have several teachers (they can put one to teach classes). If the group is about 10 people or more, then the quality of teaching is satisfactory, so it is better to choose a program where groups of 6 people. If you want to improve your writing and listening skills, a family program is not suitable for this, although during testing the teacher asks what skills you would like to improve, but almost everyone falls into the same group regardless of your wishes (they only look at the level of English proficiency), but sometimes there may be people with different levels of proficiency in the group and when four out of 10 people in a group have a much lower level, classes become uninteresting (why they do this is unknown). We acted promptly on comments and suggestions!
The program of events was diverse. But if you have already been to London, you can create an entertainment program for yourself. The children visited museums on Fridays and were pleased with what they saw. You can also ask the teachers about the most interesting places and events in London that are not included in the program. They will be happy to tell you all the information you are interested in about them.
The location of the hotel was great. The living conditions are satisfactory: cleaning was carried out 5 times a week, garbage was taken out daily. Soap and shampoo are given only once upon arrival. It was noisy (we adapted after a couple of days), since the window frames are metal and single, so there is no noise insulation. In addition, in winter it will be very cold in such a hotel (even in summer there is a heater in the room).
TBS (+1 program, training at Mendel University).
Duration - 1 academic year.
The impressions are positive. After passing the Czech language at the B2 level at the University. According to Mendel, the exam in Charles seemed elementary, not to mention the VŠCHT. The teachers are very competent and patient. You can learn the language perfectly in a year. The main thing is desire.
Events were organized in sufficient numbers, but I did not attend them.
Initially, I lived in a rented apartment, so I can't say anything about the accommodation. Accommodation can be easily changed if someone is not satisfied with it. Future students need to know that they should not rush to the Baronella as much as we did, because it does not represent anything special. The products are cheaper here, the main thing is to learn how to cook for yourself. Although this is also not a problem, because cafes and canteens here are also inexpensive.
There are no comments on the program. There were minor problems, but on a general level, I don't even want to remember them. Consultations on universities and exhibitions were held in such quantity that it was necessary for everyone. There were no problems.
Thank you so much to Sergey for helping with everything and patiently answering all our stupid questions 300 times.
thank you very much!!!
Academlux are excellent specialists in the field of education abroad. Thanks to their help, I entered a university in Canada. The guys helped to arrange all the documents correctly and made this process easy.
Хочу здесь рассказать, как важно то, чем вы занимаетесь в Academlux.
Without the help of Academlux, I would not have decided to study in the UK. Thanks to these wonderful specialists, I am now here and receiving an excellent education.
I can't help but share my joy! Thanks to the help of Academlux, she entered a university in Germany. It was my dream, and they helped me realize it. I am very grateful for the professionalism and care for the students!
I have dreamed of studying in France for a long time, and my dream came true with the support of Academlux. Thank you for your help and professionalism.
