Lycian tombs are a unique type of burial and an archaeological monument dating back to the 1st millennium BC.
The burials are located in the rocks at different heights. They resemble temples, palaces, caves. It is said that noble people and representatives of the authorities were buried in tombs with columns and stucco.
According to the Lycians, after death, the souls of people turned into winged creatures similar to sirens. And, in their opinion, the higher the burial, the faster the soul of the deceased got to heaven.
