No matter how sad it is - but this is part of our history. Personally, my opinion is that being in the city on an excursion - you need to come here! At least for the sake of understanding what mistakes and self-confidence lead to.
Until 1986, more than 24 thousand people lived in Slavgorodsky district, but after the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, almost all of its territory was exposed to radioactive contamination.
Immediately after the accident, only 2 villages were resettled. The mass eviction of residents began in 1989. For 5 years, thousands of families had to leave the settlements of the district, who went to Mogilev, Minsk, Dribinsky, Bobruisk districts. In 1995, several collective farms and three village councils were liquidated in this territory.
In 1996, in memory of these events, a memorial alley was opened in Slavgorod in memory of the buried villages.
