The Italians created the famous Road to Golgotha (Martiriou). It symbolizes the path that Jesus Christ walked when he carried his cross. Along the road there are proskinetariums with bronze images of the Passion of Christ.
This road is crowned by a huge 18-meter cross, installed by the Italians to replace the old wooden thirty-meter cross, which today is the most popular observation deck of the island of Rhodes and anyone can climb it.
