She stayed at the hotel in December 2024. It has two buildings: "Banana Beach" and "Banana Garden". The first one is located directly on the beach and they ask you to pay an additional $ 100-150 per day (more for modest visitors). At the same time, the first floor has a view of the stairs, above - to the beach with palm trees.
The second building is across the street. View from the window to the balcony and the road. But the noise doesn't get in the way. I lived in the Garden on the 3rd floor in a double room with separate beds. The loft-style renovation is still underway below. The furniture and doors are made of turquoise-colored boards, there is a hanger instead of a closet, and the mattresses are new and comfortable. There is air conditioning, 2 fans, a refrigerator with a lock! (can be used as a safe), hot water. Upon request, a kettle, cups, spoons, saucers, and an iron were brought. There is no hair dryer, no pool. They don't give you water or tea. Cleaning is only on request. Wi-fi is on the beach, but it doesn't work well. It is missing in the second building. It is better to buy a SIM card either at the airport or in Halle. In Unawatuna, they ask for 1,250 rupees for a SIM card, and 250 rupees in Galle. This is in addition to paying for Internet traffic.
Breakfast on the beach is standard: scrambled eggs (omelet or fried eggs), a couple of pieces of fruits and vegetables, tea or coffee, jam, butter, bread, a small sponge cake or a couple of pancakes, smoothies. Oatmeal porridge on request. It is possible to order for an additional fee according to the menu.
The staff speaks English, I only heard "glazunya" in Russian. In general, they are friendly, they try to fulfill requests, but they save effort and money. They wanted to ignore the festive Christmas dinner stated in the voucher.
Sun beds and umbrellas are free on the beach.
The waves are smaller on the left, but the current along the coast is noticeable. Therefore, it is dangerous to swim far, as it is everywhere in Sri Lanka, it can take you into the ocean. Sometimes a small monitor lizard comes to the beach. In the evening, sand fleas were bitten. There are practically no mosquitoes. It is better to store the food in the room in the refrigerator so that no ants appear.
The location of the hotel is far from the party areas, it's quiet at night. A 7-minute walk to the tourist street, from there you can walk to the Buddha statue, the Japanese Peace Stupa, jungle Beach and observation points. In the evening, you can see fireflies there. Flying peacocks during the day.
There is a grocery store next to the hotel, and a wine shop a little further away. You can walk for 15 minutes or take a tuk-tuk to turtle beach. Preferably in the morning.
In Galle, you should definitely visit the fort. You can get there by 350 bus for 60 rupees. The bus stop is marked with a line on the asphalt, but it's enough to wave to the driver and tell him where to go.
In general, the hotel is not bad, taking into account the standard of living of the population and the price. When the repairs are completed and the Internet is installed, it will be possible to put a "five".
