Bansko is great. There is something to do both in winter and summer! Mountains, mineral pools, lakes, forests. For all ages and physical condition - there is everything.
I really, really liked it in Bansko in the summer in the middle of July. The view of the mountains is simply unforgettable, the Gondola lift costs 40 lev for an adult / 25 lev for a child, it's expensive, but the impressions are extraordinary, we did not regret the money spent, we climbed high into the mountains, and saw the tops of tall fir trees, and the city at a glance. The climate is also interesting, at night and in the early morning the temperature is 11 degrees, in the afternoon it rises to 30 degrees. The town itself is not big, almost all have their own small vegetable gardens, livestock. In the morning, the roosters sing, the sun rises and you look at the beautiful mountains.
The ski complex has trails of any complexity, beautiful nature at the foot of the mountains will give you unforgettable days of pastime. You can rent an ATV and go on exciting walks.
Bansko is just a fairy tale in reality!!!!! Very cozy, friendly, not expensive, sincere and professional!!! An amazing place. Full delight from everything I saw!!! Wheelchair - aerobatics!!! Thank you Bansko!!!

A wonderful ski resort. Responsive people. Mountain air. Quality products. Developed infrastructure. Great opportunities for an active lifestyle. Rich cultural life.
I am an alpine skier with about 20 years of experience. I have visited resorts in Western Europe (Frania, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Andorra), and traveled to almost all of our (Russian) resorts.
I'll start with the pros.
- delicious food
- nice people
That's all the advantages. Minuses
- there are few trails. So also 90 percent of the time, most of them (all the tops) were closed. There is objectively nowhere to ride.
- extremely poor quality of trails. It feels like they won't be squandered at all. The tracks were a mix of ice and hills.
- wild queues, especially when the tops are closed (90% of the time, I remind you) for all lifts.
- take the money with you at ALL times. we went for 10 minutes to 15 meters (second floor) within the framework of our hotel to have breakfast on the first day and 300 euros were stolen from us. Fortunately, the hotel administration met halfway and returned everything. The people here are really good)
Let me summarize the results. If you don't have a goal to have a great ride, but just want to go down a couple of times and sit drinking local wine, eating it with a knuckle, then you may even like it here. But if you want to ride normally, I strongly advise you not to come here.
An ancient city, very cozy. The city smells of stove heating, as in any house, tavern or cafe there is either a fireplace or a hearth, which adds to the entourage. Many people speak Russian, and people are friendly. Prices are Moscow or lower. The main problem is that the lift from the city to the ski area (there is a long queue for it) is solved by a car that will take you up for 10 lev (380 rubles). There are many thermal springs around the city with pools of hot mineral water in the open air (prices from very cheap to very expensive) depends on the location. I liked Bansko very much, although for a long time we doubted whether to go there for a ride or not. The ski area is small, the level of trails from beginners to sports, but due to their small number, it is suitable for novice riders or progressing.
A very old, almost fabulous town with stunning natural beauty. We were in late February - early March. There are many cafes, restaurants, pubs. A hangout place. A lot of young parents with young children come
We were at the resort from Feb 7 to Feb 14, 2020 on the recommendation of friends.
I will immediately explain that the top three to the resort are for the HUGE queues, first at the ticket office, and then at the lift. Arriving there by 8 a.m., you get to the mountain only by 10, and then to the base station, from where you need to queue up for the lift again, from where the descent begins.
There was bare ice on the track on these dates and they didn't waste it at all, although friends who advised going there claimed that this was the first time. Perhaps this is due to the weather conditions, but the snow cannons are installed, but there is no sense))
and another fat minus is from the poles on which the cable cars are installed - during the ascent, some kind of technical liquid dripped on me, which ruined my jacket, pants and gloves - it was never possible to wash it to the end.
On the PLUS SIDE, everyone speaks Russian, everyone understands you anywhere in the resort from the slopes to the cafes.
Bulgarians are hospitable and friendly.
Beautiful nature - Christmas trees - like toys - one to one;
There are various trails for every taste and level of skiing, many ski schools, instructors, including those with knowledge of the Russian language.
I was with my son from 13 to 20, the baths and other entertainment were closed.14We managed to roll back two days perfectly, the snow is good and the descent is good too, nk and further every day we ate from hotel to hotel, but we carried the seisas in quarantine. This time the estimate is like this, but next year I'm definitely there.
Not Austria-France, but acceptable...75 km of trails of all levels, heights from 2600 to 1000 m. There is a queue for 1-2 hours for the gondola to ascend from 8 to 11 a.m., from 11 to 12:30 it is free. A half-day ticket starts at 12:30 (BGN 50), and it gets crowded for a while. Upstairs, all the chairs are free, we waited for 2-3 minutes at most.
In the morning, the tracks are perfectly prepared, by the evening there are some bumps and ice in places.
The price tag is 30% lower than Europe, housing-products are inexpensive.
Mechan restaurants 25 € for 2 with raki wine)))
5 km away is the village of Banya with thermal springs and spa complexes - super!!!
There are a lot of people on wheelchairs. The booths can't handle the flow of people. You can stand up to 1 hour on the lift from the city to Banderishkin glade. Food and drinks on the mountain have just gone up in price compared to previous years.
It is a pity that the resort is not developing
I had a rest in Bansko twice, if I had the opportunity to go again, I would not hesitate. The prices are much cheaper than in other resorts, the service is excellent.
It was the first time we visited this resort. We went with friends and children. Trails for every taste. Both children (6,7,8 and 17 years old) rolled and adults with different levels of skating.
I've been there twice. We rented an apartment with my wife.not far from the lift.Everything is great. The prices are very encouraging. If you want , cook the food yourself .There are a lot of cafes on the streets.I recommend going to the hot springs. It's worth it.
There are a lot of people, but it's almost like in Russia. Many people understand Russian and you can safely do without English!

Huge queues for the ascent from the city + VIPs that consume the life of the lift from ordinary people and a small ski area.
From + - reasonable prices for skiing and good for beginners.
