The Shipwreck Museum (Batık Gemi Müzesi) is located in the lower halls of the Kyrenia Fortress (Girne Fortress). The most important exhibit is the remains of an ancient Greek merchant ship that was shipwrecked off the coast of Cyprus in the 4th century BC. The remains of the ship, which is the oldest, or rather the only, ancient Greek vessel in the world, were raised from the seabed in 1970.
