I went to Montenegro in 2017, vacationed in 3 cities. The first city was Ulcinj. The city is small. but there are many different beaches, the sea is clean. The most famous Great Black sand beach, very large, for many kilometers, free, spacious, with volcanic sand, it is located near the city, a cheap taxi, you can get there. You can watch kitesurfing online on this beach). In the city itself, near the citadel, there are also several beaches, usually all crowded during the season. The citadel is gorgeous, it has restaurants and apartments, I highly recommend private beaches that are located next to the central beach, with wooden decking in the sea. Most of all, I liked the Ladies Beach for women, the beach is in the form of a bay, surrounded by nets from the shore. Ladies Beach is known for its unusual waters, which are a mixture of sulfur from an underwater source, radium and sea salts. We only went there. The entrance price in 2017 was 2 euros. On this beach there are cafes, massage tables, gorgeous red sun beds, many do not take sun beds, as there are large flat slabs and stones. The bottom is rocky, deep, the entrance is only in sneakers. I am delighted with this beach, the water smells of hydrogen sulfide, healing. The beach is nudist, but mostly everyone is in swimsuits and goes there for the purpose of wellness, since a hydrogen-gray source combined with seawater is better than just seawater. I attached a photo with a Great beach, a women's beach with red umbrellas, a beach in the center of Ulcinj near the citadel and a view of the city near the sea.
The beach is paid 300,000 liras. Entrance from the pier, the price includes a sunbed and a shower. Everything is tolerable if you, like me, came there to swim and not to look for Luxury since it is not there😀
In the season (from mid-June to the end of August), people are like sprats in a jar. And very dirty. The rest of the time there is a pretty embankment and beautiful views of the Fortress.
