A very interesting place with a slightly romantic aura. It was a weekday, despite this, the hall was full.
Wine connoisseurs will appreciate this place, and I appreciated the delicious steaks. We were served by a young man named Bakhtiar, the boy turned out to have a good sense of humor and guided us very well on the menu. They took exactly what they needed. A great place with delicious steaks and an enchanting wine list. The steaks are delicious - the meat is good, the roasting is exactly what you order, the sauces and side dishes are also on top. We ordered steaks made from aged meat, porcini mushroom sauces, baby potatoes with peaches and oyster mushrooms as side dishes. Georgian dry red wine was taken. And a meringue dessert. I liked everything very much, the delivery time is very fast, considering that the boarding in the hall was almost complete. The staff is polite and helpful, they notice when a glass of wine is empty, they will come and fill it with wine. The interior is pleasant, especially the door handles in the form of axes stuck in the door were amused. The place is far from the cheapest, but definitely worth a visit. I recommend it!

I will immediately note the good service. During the stay in the restaurant, there were some moments of misunderstanding, but all of them were not the fault of the staff and were competently and politely resolved.
According to reviews, this is almost one of the best restaurants in Almaty. Moreover, it is a meat restaurant: steaks, meat/poultry, wine. The interior is decent, there is a veranda. The choice is made, we come and study the menu. And it's very strange.
The choice of meat dishes is small (which is even good!) and it includes very specific combinations. I was expecting something delicious, but how do you like a meat patty with mashed potatoes and kimchi? And how much do ordinary green peas need parmesan? What is really needed is either to display the ingredients in the name of the dish, or in its description. Because by default, I don't imagine a cutlet with cheddar cheese INSIDE. Firstly, if this is not a good idea, then putting cheese inside a minced meat product and passing it off as a restaurant dish is doubtful (blank, semi-finished product). Secondly, it is necessary to take into account local peculiarities: in Kazakhstan you will not find just a well-cooked steak. Either there is no such dish on the menu, or this "steak" is another kind of cutlet. Another feature of the local cuisine is the over-salting of meat dishes. I have already visited more than one restaurant in the Republic of Kazakhstan, both with an expensive check and with an average one. But in each of them, the meat was either on the verge or over-salted. In this case, the cutlet also turned out to be over-salted, which is enhanced by the cheese inside. And it is also very fatty, but this, again, is a local feature of ground beef. Kimchi, by the way, is good: spicy, blood boils.
And what do you imagine under veal cheeks in demiglas sauce? I think it's definitely not beef stew. But apparently these cheeks were languishing all the same time that the sauce was being prepared; as a result, the cheeks do not melt in the mouth, but disintegrate along the fibers. And yes, parmesan should be grated directly when serving the dish, and not bring it with already grated cheese. In general, this is all really strange: meat is sold on every corner in Kazakhstan, but by and large there does not seem to be a culture of cooking it yet.
This one of the best restaurants in Almaty does not seem to have its own toilet. Beefeater shares it with the cafe next door. Therefore, to get to the toilet, you need to leave the door with a handle in the form of a butcher's axe and enter the door, decorated like a loft, with an alien. It's just darkness inside in the truest sense of the word. Lighting is zero point three (small, LED): the walls are dark, the washbasin is dark, not a thing is visible. Thanks for at least not on motion sensors...
In general, it is expensive, but mediocre. Maybe it's different with steaks. Unfortunately, there was no way to evaluate the bar card. Not really for teas: either the standard, or the same strange combinations.

Dostyk is definitely better than Nazarbayev. Good service, high-quality cuisine, decent wine list. In addition to the steaks, which everyone likes, the salads are not bad, some for company. I'll put 5, but there is a caveat. ) The choice of wine and wine dishes is excellent. Wine prices are optimal. Meat is probably almost everything that can be found on the market (I did not find anywhere in the city a true angus of high marbling prime - tell me if anything).
Now a nuance. At the very least, the beef ribs were dry, there was a lot of fat and the sauce next to it did not solve anything. However, they apologized and said that the dish would be removed for now. Respect and rahmet.)

And please think about the restrooms, the restaurant has a shared bathroom with a burger joint - a dubious idea. The bathroom renovation is disgusting, why is there a mirror in front of the toilet? To look at your own genitals? Good cuisine and trained staff require an appropriate environment in order not to turn into a mediocre place. + it makes sense to increase the distance between the tables, the etiquette of the guests (or rather its absence) can spoil a visit to the institution.

I pointed out to the waiter that the steak was overcooked, and the waiter did not even offer to redo the steak.. I am disappointed with this - you order a steak for 12,000 tenge, but it was cooked incorrectly for you.

I leave an honest review. Hummus is like soup, it's terrible. Green salad approx. Tar-tar is filled with balsamic vinegar, sourness. Steak for 3-. They didn't get into the frying pan. The service is also lame. They asked to serve a green salad with the steak, they brought it right away. Attention 80,000₸, 160$, for 2 persons. It's just a complete rip-off for such food.

The place is simply magical!!! Very high quality service. Stylish interior and great food. Own baking. There are a lot of non-trivial dishes on the menu. A good selection of craft beers and an excellent wine library. Of the disadvantages, there is not a very large selection of strong alcohol and too delicious food, it is impossible to refuse dessert :).
PS. On significant dates for regular guests, the institution gives pleasant and interesting gifts at its discretion, but it is always something not quite ordinary. I recommend you to visit.

It's a great place! The horse meat steak is outstanding. I also liked the rest of what I tried, snacks, spreadings and even bone marrow (for example, I didn't like it at all in Sandyk).
