For several years, I have been looking for the place of death and burial of my great-grandfather, Red Army soldier Bobylev Stepan, who died a brave death on 07/04/1944 during the liberation of the Miorsky district of the Vitebsk region of the Republic of Belarus. Together with the Administration of the Miorsky district, it was possible to establish and perpetuate the memory on the memorial plaque of the mass grave in the village. Leonpol great-grandfather and his four colleagues, soldiers of the 325th separate anti-tank fighter division 270 of the Red Banner Rifle Demidov Division. After 80 years since the events, I managed to visit these iconic places personally.
Visiting a mass grave leaves a deep mark on people's hearts. It is a place filled with memory and respect for those who gave their lives for freedom and peace. A touching atmosphere of silence and solemnity. The mass grave is located in a picturesque corner of nature, and despite the sad story, there is a sense of peace around. The names of the heroes are stamped on the monument, in this place it is impossible not to feel pride in their exploits, as well as sorrow over their losses. Thanks to the administration of the Miorsky district, the Uzmensky village Council, and the residents for taking care of this burial, which is very important for preserving historical memory.
Visiting the mass grave in Leonpol is for all of us not only a tribute, but also an opportunity to reflect on the value of peace and life. Anyone who wants to honor the memory of the heroes and reflect on the most important lessons of history should visit this place. NO ONE IS FORGOTTEN, NOTHING IS FORGOTTEN! ETERNAL MEMORY TO THE HEROES!
