One of my favorite places in Istanbul. It's a very beautiful church, the most beautiful I've ever seen. It is made entirely of iron , but you can 't say that . many different symbols are applied on the outside. It is worth taking a look at it from the water . a gorgeous sight , like the whole Balat
A decent church. It is very pleasing to the eye among the many mosques. An impressive structure built entirely of cast iron. The church is active, so you can't take pictures inside. You can buy souvenirs
It is a very beautiful church. The stained glass is amazing. You can climb to the second tier and look at all the corners from a height. Take the time to visit.
Cool! I definitely recommend you to visit. Such churches (made of cast iron and metal!!!) there are fewer than 10 in the world. The attendants are happy to talk about the history of the temple.
A beautiful church in the Balat district. You can get from the Eminenyu Marina by tram 5. It is quiet and beautiful inside, there are benches to relax. They speak Russian.
A beautiful building. Russian russians have a nice guy working inside, who spoke to us in pure Russian, and he learned it from Russian tourists. Pomegranate trees grow on the territory 😍
We looked at it. Foreigners and locals come.Silence. Rest.We had a little time to look around, we arrived almost before closing time. The weather was warm, plus 15 degrees.
A very nice Church on the shore of the Golden Horn. A lot of exterior details are very beautiful. And yes, it is indeed made entirely of metal elements. I recommend you to watch and visit!
It is a very beautiful church. There are beautiful stained glass windows and icons inside it. It was very nice to find a functioning Orthodox church in a city like Istanbul.
I also really liked their choir, its singing is soothing and inspiring at the same time.
It is a very beautiful church, unfortunately it was not possible to visit it inside. Be sure to visit it if you have the opportunity, it is located on the seashore, I recommend it for viewing.
The beauty of the church is well preserved with proper care. There are very beautiful stained glass windows inside. It's quiet and beautiful. I recommend a visit. An iron church is a rarity.
Beautiful, quiet place. Inside there is a beautiful iconostasis, you can climb to the balconies of the second floor and relax from the Turkish heat. The entrance, of course, is free, but you can leave a donation at the exit
The elegant structure strikes the imagination even more when you find out that it is built entirely of metal. It is beautiful inside: stained glass windows, forged elements.
A beautiful and interesting church. Definitely worth a visit while walking around the Balat

The Iron Church was originally a wooden church of St. Stephen and differed little from others built at the same time (late XVIII—early XIX century). It was consecrated on October 9, 1849 and recognized as one of the centers of the Bulgarian national revival, which made it an important symbol. This saved her: after the fire that occurred at the end of the XIX century, she was not abandoned, but decided to restore, and with giving her a larger scale and grandeur.
In order to avoid a repeat of the accident, it was decided to use cast iron instead of wood — that's how the church became iron. Moreover, not only cast iron was used, but also ordinary iron — this is due to the fact that the soil at the location is weak, so it was necessary to use mainly light materials.
The construction of the new church was completed in 1898, and it was almost immediately rededicated by the Bulgarian exarch Joseph.
It was very touching to get to church on Easter. Nicely. I bought an icon as a keepsake. But she didn't ask who was depicted. It is clear that the Virgin is most likely Stefan, and who is the third? Can someone explain? I will be grateful.
A very beautiful church! It is difficult to imagine that it is completely made of cast iron and can be disassembled))) I definitely recommend a visit if you are sightseeing in Istanbul. It is easy to get there by public transport - we got there by tram, the stop is not far away.
When you expect only Islamic architecture from Istanbul (mosques, palaces), then the Bulgarian Orthodox Church is a kind of surprise, everything is made of metal, among other things. Beautiful decoration inside and out.
