The Cathedral of the Diocese of Polotsk. It is located in the very center of the city in a picturesque place, with a wonderful view of the Western Dvina River. The cathedral was built in 1761-1777 in the Baroque style. In Soviet times, the cathedral was closed and converted into a sports hall. It was reopened in 1991.
The cathedral is in a good (very good for me) place. Episcopal services are often held. The priest in the cathedral sings beautifully (without exaggeration). Even non-believers or weak parishioners (well, like me, for example), entering the cathedral, will stay there for more than 5 minutes. It is a pity that there are not as many ancient icons as we would like. Basically everything is new.
To be in Polotsk and not visit the cathedral? I can't afford it. There is a church shop on the territory, a place where you can collect holy water. Be sure to visit the service. They sing very well there. It is obligatory to listen to the ringing of the bells. But most of them go to worship the relics of Euphrosyne of Polotsk.
A cozy, prayer-filled cathedral, where you want to come again and again. Touching curtains on the windows, painted unusual faces on the walls - all this unobtrusively sinks into the soul in a rustic way.
The temple is beautiful externally and internally. The ministers of the church are especially pleasant. They are friendly, attentive, and humble. There is true humility and respect.
This is a cathedral that attracts the soul of an Orthodox believer. By all literally criteria. The atmosphere of the temple is conducive to the communication of the believer with the Lord God, and who has not yet determined in his spiritual and spiritual berth - in accepting the rite of Baptism.
The current cathedral of the Polotsk-Glubokoe diocese, at the service you can see the Bishop himself. It was built of stone on the site of a wooden one in the 18th century. Catherine II gave money for the roof

The cathedral is beautiful and canonical. Nearby is an observation deck on the opposite bank of the Dvina River.
