The church where St. Nicholas preached and was buried, is now being excavated and restored, we went on an excursion from Kemer, at the same time we looked at the country a little, I advise you to visit somewhere for 3 hours
A place of reverence, faith, humility and aspiration. Bow down your pride, listen to the whisper of the soul. You are in the temple with the souls of the saints. Quietly believe in love.
An amazing place. The temple is preserved, protected as best they can. But the building of the 3rd century! There are fragments of a pagan temple, on the site of which a Christian one was built in the 2nd century. The marble coffin where the relics of the Miracle Worker lay. You can approach, touch the protective glass, throw notes. An extraordinary place.
I have been to Turkey several times, but only this year I visited this temple, I was very impressed. For the Orthodox, it is a holy place, you get peace of mind.
The temple is unusual. The mixing speed is frantic. There's nothing to see, except the sarcophagus. The place of power is felt in the shops nearby. The factory silver icons turn out to be imported from Greece. Consecrated. Prices for oligarchs .Entrance is 130,000lire. it takes more than 2 hours to drive from Kemer.
If you don't visit this place, you won't lose anything)
I'm just curious to walk through the ruins, since we've arrived. The unpleasant aftertaste from the "divorce" by the guides and from visiting the store with icons to the passage to the temple territory, where the poor quality of the goods is sold for fabulous money. You can buy an icon on the territory much cheaper.
A wonderful place, it breathes so well there and the soul calms down, I recommend everyone to visit!

As some guide said, it is a very powerful place in terms of energy, even for those who do not really believe in the topic of religion.
Admission is 15 euros per person, I recommend paying extra for an audio tour.
After visiting this holy temple, grace descends and our souls become cleaner, a soulful place, if you are nearby, be sure to come and touch the holy and miraculous places, that's where you really realize what the holy land and faith are....
We were at a hotel nearby (4 km), walked to the church. The ticket price was 250 lire on May 11, 2023. There were few people. I really liked the inside, it's fascinating.
In the 4th century, the good priest Nicholas served as archbishop in the city of Mira (now Demre) in Lycia, helping the suffering, especially poor families with children. 17 centuries have passed, much has been erased from memory, but information that Nicholas the Wonderworker was buried in this place in a marble sarcophagus is passed down from generation to generation. A church was previously built over the resting place of St. Nicholas, but in the 6th century it was destroyed by an earthquake. In 1042, under Emperor Constantine, the basilica was restored. In later times (most likely under the Ottomans), the relics of the Saint were found here and transported by merchants to Bari, in Christian Italy.
The church is inactive, but there are many pilgrims, especially our compatriots. You can light a candle and pray. A service is being held on Nikola Zimny.
The temple has survived a lot: over the past centuries, many cultural layers have grown around it, and now it is 5-6 meters below ground level. A mudslide descended on the building from the mountains. To clean the church of clay, large funds were required, they were allocated by the Russian Emperor Nicholas I. It is all the more surprising that after so many trials frescoes are visible on the walls, and an 11th-century mosaic is on the floor. A protective dome has been installed over the religious building with the money of Patriarch Alexy II.
The Turkish government also supports the cathedral. Restoration is underway, but there are not enough funds. Those who decide to travel to Demre should remember that the terrain is mountainous, serpentine, it is difficult to pass it, but such is the fate of a pilgrim - to overcome difficulties on the path of faith.
A wonderful holy place. There are preserved frescoes from the time of Nicholas the Wonderworker. The sarcophagus of St. Nicholas. A very interesting temple, two monuments to Nicholas the Wonderworker. I highly recommend visiting.
We were at the service in honor of the birthday of Nicholas the Wonderworker ! Although it is a museum, but Nicholas the Wonderworker served there! It was a strong spiritual uplift for us!
A small church with a miraculous icon. But in order to get inside, you need to pay an additional entrance fee of about $ 20. Which, in my opinion, is a bit expensive.
I really wanted to visit this temple, a place with a special energy. But! The heart breaks from the way the temple is located, you can't look without tears. It is especially insulting that the guides try to impose huge expenses in this place as much as possible, equating such a place to a source of money. There are several points of sale passing into each other on the tour, do not rush to spend money immediately, look around, go to the temple first, and then it will become clear what you want to buy. If at least a small part of the sales had been spent on the temple, it would have been restored long ago. How should the Orthodox community pay attention to this problem??? 🙏
A small church, it's not cheap, of course, even very, but I'm glad we got to this area, of course it's impossible not to visit. There is an audio guide.
Be sure to take a guide. Without it, it's just empty walls. I was amused by the phrase in front of the sarcophagus - "do not burn candles! This is a museum!" The sarcophagus of the saint itself is covered with notes with requests.
We went on an excursion, we liked it very much, we asked for the blessing of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, we touched the altar. Yes, the girls went with us, they are already going for the second time to thank the Miracle Worker for his help in fulfilling the wish. The place is magical, that they asked for help in everything, let's go to the second oasis to thank
I did not enter the territory, the entrance is 350 liras. The Italians stole the relics of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and keep them, they do not want to return them, an empty sarcophagus is in place. So we need a charter to Italy
