I once booked this hotel through booking long before check-in and with the option to cancel the reservation. The booking had to be cancelled, but the hotel decided to charge money from my card. It was only with the help of the issuing bank that I was able to return the funds minus the commission.
After that, the hotel tried several more times to debit money from an empty debit card, but to no avail.
Just keep that in mind.
