It's not a big square, which has another attraction, past the column... it's a bakery. The bread here is excellent! they bake right on the spot in a wood-burning oven! you will find it by the smell.))) prices in the bakery: +/- 4 lira per loaf (12-15 rubles.) MUST-visit!)

A little history: On three sides, christograms are carved inside the medallions, and from the north, on the fourth side, two winged geniuses (angels) holding the globe are depicted. Above them, on the plinth, there is a dedicatory inscription in Latin. Initially, the letters were bronze, but today only empty holes remain from them, through which the text can still be made out. It says here: "Take a look at this statue and the forum of Marcian, built by the prefect Tatian."
