My recent experience of interacting with Maya Viktorovna at the Dante School and Translation office in Minsk raises serious questions about the level of professionalism that should be inherent in an institution with such a reputation. Maya Viktorovna's lack of respect and competence as a mediator is not only disappointing, but also calls into question her professional suitability, especially given her role in an organization committed to promoting cultural understanding and open dialogue.
The name of the school "Dante" implies a high standard of professionalism, but my expectations were not met. During my interactions, a translation from Russian into Spanish was requested. The translator, Sergey Pavlovich Kizenkov, made gross mistakes, which is unacceptable for an institution that claims to have high standards in the field of translation. Moreover, the office staff did not consider it necessary to apologize for the mistakes made, and during the entire visit they tried to convince me that the translator was not guilty, citing his inattention.
Such an attitude indicates a lack of tact and professional ethics. Maya Viktorovna's interference in matters unrelated to her and her inappropriate comments regarding my order are especially unacceptable. Several times she allowed herself to ask me questions that were clearly beyond her competence, including: "Why did you order the translation if you could have done it yourself?" Such behavior is unacceptable and requires due consideration.
I was interested in Spanish courses from scratch. I called the school, there is a condition - come first sign a contract and pay the money, and then wait for the group to be recruited, a month or two, according to the administrator. They don't consider your interest without payment. The receptionist is very rude, she talked to me as if I owed them something. Just the phrase: "we will not wait until you deign to come to us, call yourself if you are interested" already says a lot. After an unpleasant conversation with the administrator and reviewing the reviews, I understand that it is not worth going there.
Disgusting "school". I really regret that I got there. I signed up for a Spanish course. The website says that everything for the course will be provided - in fact, no. I had to buy a textbook, but it's OK. And for each lesson, the teacher herself printed out some pages from other notebooks and books for us for her money, and sometimes just handwritten words. And the brain constantly took out to the whole group that she was doing it for her money and wanted someone to make printouts instead of her. It is not clear why the school does not have at least one printer for all teachers. Also, during the season, until the heating was turned on, it was so cold in the offices that I had to sit in jackets for several weeks. Why not buy a small fan heater and warm up the office before class, if everything is so bad with the building administration and there is no way to agree.. The teacher herself, Dina Maksimovna, often behaved intemperately and allowed quite toxic conversations with students and even shouting at them. At least three of them just decided to quit the course. She was hiding behind the fact that she wanted us to learn everything. Solving something with the administration is not an option. It's all rudeness and unsubscribing. As a result: I'm sorry for the nerves, time and money spent. I hope the review will warn someone.
