After the collective farm in Lars, you come here as to another planet))) Cafes, ATMs, shops, SIM cards, etc. Good asphalt, easy passage - everything is quite cultural. It took a couple of minutes to get in by car. No one found fault, we had a good conversation. But I do not advise you to come here without a car)) On the pedestrian part, the border guards are radically different from those who sit in the car passes... While I was changing money for 10 minutes, I heard enough scandals - they didn't want to let some Georgians back into the country, it seems.
P.S.: I do not advise you to go into the bathroom after entering (from the side of the coffee shop) - it is in terrible condition there))

We went in 2019, August. From Georgia to the Russian Federation. Two lanes were working when there were three cars left before us. A border guard or whatever he is called came out of the booth, put a guard on the road with his feet and left. Like whatever you want. And I don't care that there's a queue of cars. And to change lanes, you know who will let you through, everyone wants to get through faster. Okay, we, and the one who was supposed to stop by for inspection, she had to back up, while waiting for all the cars in front to squeeze into the next queue. And there are cars going bumper to bumper! This is the horror from the Georgian side. And the Russian Federation passed the border in 10 minutes. There was no queue there, but there was a queue on the Georgian side.

The road in one of the tunnels, after Gudauri, is in terrible condition, I recently drove there, damaged the bumper, I think it was not only me, the road is so broken that you can drive a truck or SUVs without problems, it is difficult to do this in a passenger car. Upon entry, he possessed ~ 3,000 USD for 6 days. During previous trips, he did not commit any offenses/crimes in Georgia. When passing the border, I was sent to room 222, I was pickled for 2.5 hours, after which I was given a passport with a refusal to enter. The reason was not specified. This border can be passed here in five minutes or they stand for hours. Here, as luck would have it. The road is mountainous and very narrow in places. The trucks are loaded and it's hard for them to climb the mountains. The only thing that really kills is the irresponsible driving of heavy-duty car drivers. When approaching the tunnels, they do not leave pockets so that small cars can drive in and let oncoming traffic pass. But there are decent drivers among them, and God grant them good roads!

We visited Georgia for the New Year holidays.
Contrary to warnings about long queues, we can say that they slipped by with a breeze.
Customs officers are friendly (especially from our side), they do not demand too much, they do not find fault much.

There are 4 lanes at the entrance to the border, and all of them are open. Approaching the checkpoint, it turns out that only one lane is open for cars, the far right one. There is a block in front of the checkpoint. Why couldn't it have been put in the beginning, the question? I understand that relations with Georgia in NV are not the best, but what do people have to do with it. I think it's wrong. Politics should be in offices, not on the road.

All passengers are standing in a common queue, passengers with children, pregnant women, the elderly, no one cares. There are no toilets before crossing the border. Georgians are rare savages. I last met this attitude when crossing the Moldovan border with Transnistria. it's clear that the bottom is there. but the Georgians managed to break through it and end up even lower. And so everything looks like it's beautiful, the building is new. Only 2 of the 8 pass lines are working. Due to the fault of the Georgians, they spent 21 hours in line. If you are traveling "not in summer", then in general everything is fine, mostly you pass the border quickly enough. In summer, you can get stuck for a long time, even for a day, especially if you cross the border on Friday or Monday.
Last year, the road was widened in a neutral territory near the Russian border, benches and toilets were installed.
