An interesting museum in the most pleasant part of Ust-Kamenogorsk. The center is well stylized and in harmony with the preserved antiquity. This museum is not the only one in the city center, but as far as I can tell, it is the most honest. Different epochs, peoples and cultures living in the region, including Oirats and Russians, are represented. The maps show how the Kazakh presence in Altai expanded with the Russian colonization. Alas, the fate of the Dzungarian Khanate of the Kalmyks, their fortresses and Buddhist monasteries has not been fully revealed. But against the background of oblivion reigning in the museums of Semipalatinsk and Pavlodar, it is very good. Also, there was not enough information about where and when the Kazakhs left Altai, their historical homeland? I think all these points will be finalized. Special thanks to the staff for their hospitality!
A great museum! There are many exhibits detailing the history of the plant. There is a huge amount of accessible and interesting information. Everyone should know their history, and this museum will be happy to help you with this! Many thanks to the museum staff! It is recommended to visit!
The museum itself is interesting, I learned new things about Oskemen.
I work in a museum myself, I am a member of ICOM, and admission to most museums in the world is free. We haven't heard anything about it here, we didn't miss it for free 😁
