Fort of St. Nicholas on the island of Rhodes. Currently, a lighthouse is located here. In ancient times, it was a defensive structure to protect against attack. It is located on the edge of a stone breakwater in the era of antiquity in the XV century. First, the central part was erected, which was named the Mill Tower. Later, the structure was surrounded by a moat and a wall was built. A beautiful ancient architectural monument of Rhodes. Snow-white ships enhance the beauty of perception and impressions remain for a lifetime!

If you look directly at the sea, you can see a gap between the shore and the fort of St. Nicholas, there are statues of deer on the columns (the symbol of the island). It is assumed that it was here that the 36-meter statue of the Colossus of Rhodes, built in 292 BC, stood. But it stood for less than 50 years, then the earthquake broke its knees, and the giant Colossus fell, having lain there for 8 centuries in a row, until its remains were sold to a Jewish merchant.
Near the fort of St. Nicholas, the good Greeks built a "dining room" for kittens, so they go there well-fed and satisfied, only very eager for affection. You can leave food or a few euros/cents for the fluffy lumps.
While we were walking by the mills, we met an old Greek. In a mixture of Greek, English and Russian, we realized that he was inviting us to the Archaeological Museum where he had worked all his life. The Greek showed us photos of his adult children and young grandchildren, and wished us to come with the children next time. What kind of hospitable people live in Greece!
