We vacationed in Zanzibar at the Fan Beach Hotel in December 2020. A great place in the price-quality ratio. It is very cozy, Atmospheric and clean. Decent breakfast buffet. We had lunch and dinner in restaurants in neighboring villages. It was tastier there and a little cheaper. They did not take the local currency, they paid in dollars everywhere. Excellent pools in the hotel and the ocean are within walking distance. Since this is the east coast, there are tides and tides twice a day. But we had enough to swim a lot. The nature is amazing. The place is not a party place, for a quiet rest and relaxation.

The cannon hotel. I liked the pool more, which is in the back of the hotel, not with a view of the sea. In general, the atmosphere there is super cozy. The basik is cleaned constantly, there is no sand or debris in it. The hotel itself is also very good, there are places for leisure, books, chess, billiards, etc. But we probably only slept at the hotel, but we rented a car and drove around the city or the country, I don't know how it would be right.

A quiet hotel for family holidays. We stayed in bungalows far from the reception, where mostly Russians are settled. Fortunately, there were no noisy neighbors during our vacation, and we were able to fully immerse ourselves in a leisurely seal vacation. Of the advantages:
- nice pools. Cool location for Insta photos. Plus the second floor of the restaurant overlooking the ocean and the pool;
- green, well-groomed territory, except for the beach;
- free pair of sun loungers at each bungalow;
- regular cleaning and courteous staff, except for some employees;
- air conditioning;
- a beautiful pier with a cafe on it, and where you can take good photos for social media.networks;
Of the cons:
- there are no entertainment and attractions nearby. The only interesting place we could walk to was Kuze Cave. It's not very beautiful, but you can hide from the heat and swim. The entrance is of course paid.
Free table tennis, billiards and TV are available on site.
- very long serving of dishes. Especially for dinner. I had to wait at least 1 hour. One of the waitresses was remembered for a long time: short, big-eyed, with curly hair. She was constantly arguing with someone, proving something and actively gesticulating, serving the guests with undisguised disdain. We just called her "the witch"!
- strong tides. During our stay at the hotel, we swam in the ocean 3-4 times. In March, it was very warm and quite dirty.
- since there is a lot of vegetation on the territory, there are a lot of different animals. On the first day, monkeys came to visit us, and in the evenings a gecko crawled into the toilet. The most unpleasant moment was the fall of a hefty cockroach at night on his sleeping wife. It was remembered for a lifetime! Both of them experienced stress! My wife - from falling on the shoulder of a 4-centimeter cockroach; I - from her scream. At the same time, there is a canopy over the bed in the bungalow. But he didn't stop the cockroach; somehow he got past the perimeter of the canopy. After this incident, before going to bed, the translations in the ceiling and the places where the canopy was attached to the ceiling were tapped. We managed to find 3 more cockroaches.
And the rest of the hotel is not bad! I advise you!)

Positive:
1. If you are tired of the hustle and bustle of the city, come here, it is very quiet and peaceful here
2. Delicious lunches and dinners are prepared
3. Suitable for family holidays
4. Large pools
5. The opportunity to live in bungallo
6. Of course, Safari, uaaaaaa!
Minuses:
1. Breakfasts are very meager, and almost every time they don't report either a sausage or a fried tomato. No bacon (banned for known reasons). My husband and I chose the option with breakfast, with the expectation that we would have lunch and dinner in various restaurants, which we later regretted very much, since we found only one restaurant where we cooked for a very long time, we waited for an hour and a half for food, although what to cook there? Seafood is cooked once or twice.
2. There is no entertainment nearby. It gets dark at 18 o'clock, and there is nowhere to go to hang out, but at least I want to. That's why I wrote "family vacation" in the pros.
3. The location is unfortunate. If the hotel is located in the east, then to get to the city you need to go exactly in the opposite direction to the west. It will take you 1h15 m and 80-100 dollars (round trip)!!! The pleasure is not cheap.
4. Expensive. Souvenirs are expensive. A trip to the city is expensive. The dishes are more expensive than average. But it's probably fine for a hotel. In the city, of course, the price tag in cafes is noticeably lower. But you can't get into the city.
5. The ebb of the ocean. The tide only comes in around 16
:6. The most annoying thing was that someone from the staff stole my cap. I didn't think that caps were on trend now and that they could be stolen)) Of course, no one confessed and the culprit was not found, but be vigilant - put everything in a suitcase and lock it.

One of the best hotels on the island! You can see the owners are Europeans, hence the cool interior, friendly staff and just a fantastic restaurant! We took breakfasts and dinners, just great!!! Guests from other hotels always came to our restaurant and everyone was always delighted. I highly recommend it!

I really liked it here. Nice area, great restaurant. We bought a local avocado in the village (which is really huge and VERY tasty) and went to breakfast with it. As a result, local toasts began to play with different colors)))
It is not the most popular place in Zanzibar, so there are not a huge number of people on the beach.

The hotel itself, its location, renovation, pool at a high level. Then the advantages end. The first thing you pay attention to is that the staff does not bring change, although all this is helpful without a negative, if you make a remark, they will definitely give it away. But I do not want to recalculate the invoice on vacation and demand change, there is already Gelendzhik for a short vacation. The most unpleasant thing started two days before departure, first they stopped cleaning and bringing water, but it doesn't matter there is a shop 3 km from the hotel, you can get lost there, walk or take a taxi. Then everything gets more interesting, on the eve before departure in the evening, an announcement was hung up, allegedly the plane departs earlier than planned, the staff fussed and announced personally to everyone past the announcement at the reception, they say, and so instead of the prescribed 11:00 in the morning it leaves at 5:00, in the morning we drove a car, we got to the airport poorly and discovered with horror that there are no changes in the schedule and there were no changes, as a result we had to spend 7 extra hours at the airport.
