The Church of St. George the Victorious, unique in its location and the only one in importance, was built in the "Classicism" style for the 50th anniversary of the Baikonur Cosmodrome, illuminated in 2005. By God's providence, the name of the first person to fly into space is Yuri (Georgy) Alekseevich Gagarin. The Church built in the name of St. George the Victorious near the Baikonur Cosmodrome confirms the God-chosen Patron Saint of Cosmonautics!
The rector of the Church, Father Sergius, constantly conducts prayer services with special litanies on the launch pad, consecrating spaceships on the eve of space flights. He blesses the astronauts before the launch. Father Sergiy has the award badge "Honored Tester of space technology". The Church has an active parish life, there is a Sunday school, a Youth club, a publishing house, social ministry, educational activities on television.
The Main Shrines of the Temple: A Particle of the Relics of St. George, the icon of the Mother of God "Kazan", which visited the ISS, a Banner with the Savior Not Made with Hands, presented by Patriarch Alexy II.
We are given a chance to see a miracle these days - a launch into outer space to shoot a feature film!
