To come to Budapest and not go to the cafe "Gerbo" is a crime!!! An ancient place of worship is a real pleasure for both the eyes and the taste!))) I immediately advise you to go as early as possible (we went on New Year's Eve - we went by 8-30, because at 9-00 there will already be a queue on the street). The interior is stunningly beautiful - both in the cafe and in the bar. Esterhazy - I haven't eaten anywhere better! But Dobosh was not impressed (but here it tastes and colors!). In the bar they bought sweets in boxes - a chocolate-covered palinka, they thought it was for souvenirs, but they kept everything for themselves!))) Wonderful candies!
A very beautiful coffee shop, atmospheric, nice to sit and spend time, especially during the Christmas holidays. However, there are a lot of people and huge queues. To be honest, the cakes were not impressed at all. I ordered Esterhazy, unfortunately I was disappointed. The piece cost about 1,850 forints, about 400 rubles if translated, but the taste is much inferior to the Esterhazy cake, which I took the day before at the chocolate museum near Parliament. And it cost about 180 rubles. In my opinion, if you really want delicious cakes, then you are not here. And if you just sit and have a good time, you definitely should come.
One of the most famous coffee shops not only in Budapest, but also in Europe. It is located on Vereshmarti Square. We were in October. On weekends, there is a queue - both to sit in the hall and on the street at tables. They did not stand, they returned to the next day in the morning: there were empty seats (it is best to come at 12-13 o'clock on a weekday). We each took a piece of Esterhazy cake and coffee. Then we tried other cakes. Delicious. By the way, there are breakfasts. Of course, most people come here for the atmosphere: beautiful halls, 19th century interior. However, now the back halls are closed: perhaps because of covid or reconstruction. You can take that one to take away.
Minus the staff: the first time we took an order, then 20 minutes later another waiter came and offered to place an order: we explain what we have already done. As a result, we waited 30 minutes for a couple of coffees and a piece of cake. This attitude is somewhat upsetting.
A classic pastry restaurant with roots in the 19th century. Confirmed my expectations. Fragrant coffee. Delicious esterhazy. Pleasant atmosphere - soft pleasant music, beautiful interiors and friendly staff
