An unusual place in its natural beauty, a site of ancient people and a whole gallery of rock paintings in the open air. There is also a museum telling about primitive people and their life in this place. Admission costs 10 manats.
The petroglyphs are here. The flight of these people's thoughts through rock art is interesting. There were a lot of tourists on this clear October weekday, probably not crowded at all on weekends. The trail is comfortable for moving along the rocks with images. There are a lot of interesting plants around and it was lucky to see a fox cub who comes to the beginning of the trail to beg for food and play with the cat.
An interesting place. A great interactive museum, interesting techniques for children. The mountains of Gobustan themselves are low, but colorful, there are a lot of petroglyphs (rock paintings), dating from ll-lV thousand BC. It is better to go in comfortable shoes, have a headgear and sun goggles, it is very hot during the day, it is better to take water with you. The road to Gobustan is like in American films about cowboys: deserted and lifeless.
An interesting historical place with a well-maintained walking trail. The entire trail can be walked in 30 minutes. But if you look at everything, you can stay much longer. There is always a strong wind blowing here, so dress warmly or so that they do not sell.
A wonderful place, one might say, even unique. Only 60 km from Baku on a comfortable road with desert landscapes. Huge boulders piled up in disarray can be seen from afar.
There is a small museum in front of the reserve itself, which makes sense to visit in order to climb the mountains for a reason)) The exposition is small, but quite informative, unless, of course, you plan to defend a thesis on petroglyphs.
2 km after the museum, there is already a direct entrance to the territory of the reserve.
It is impossible to get lost there. Firstly, because the inspection area itself is small. And secondly, the permitted paths are limited by ropes and special signs. For example, the sign "snakes", in my opinion, should stop the most desperate. However, everywhere access is excellent, you can see what the ancient people scribbled there)) If you look carefully, or even better, take an audio guide or read the inscriptions of our contemporaries in 3 languages near significant objects, you can find out that their life was rich and hard.
If such a topic is not very interesting (like, for example, me), then you can enjoy the stunning views, admire the art of the best designers - water, wind and sun, who created such beauty from stone.
Wonderful air and space!
I recommend you to visit.
There are numerous excursions organized by bus as part of groups. My husband and I drove ourselves in a car that we rented.
In the same direction, 20 km further down the road there will be mud volcanoes. Of course, it is difficult to call volcanoes and it definitely does not make sense to go there specifically. But at the same time with the reserve - the very thing!))
Definitely recommend to visit this place is very beautiful))) but I would not recommend going to volcanoes with local taxi drivers, who already rush under the wheels at the entrance to the village to take you to mud volcanoes, since not all cars can be driven to this place, so they also bend the price, you negotiate for one, and he is already starting to breed you in the car salon the amount is higher, supposedly there is a better place where he can take, but it costs more, and this is the same place))))
The lacation is interesting, you look at the stones and rock paintings are not mine....
I did not go in, I think it will be more interesting for children. I met a gray fox and was pleased....
A unique nature reserve. The guide likes to tell stories about rock paintings.some of them are really of amazing preservation, you can easily see both sheep and little men on them. I would like to know more about the natural disasters that scattered the stones so much. before traveling, be sure to check the weather forecast. There's nowhere to hide from the rain.we've grown to the bone.
The reserve is protected by UNESCO. The rocks keep traces of the first people and their artistic works. It is mandatory to visit Azerbaijan. It is not very far from Baku on a good road.
You expect more. Probably coming with high expectations you get a little upset. 4-5 stones with inscriptions and that's it. And to go an hour there and an hour back
This is a magical unforgettable place that will definitely take you back in time. Firstly, stone tomburins are stones that emit sticky tones. Secondly, these damn rock cows or bulls are so wild and simple that you really believe in their archaic cave creator. Thirdly, in this mountain of piled giant boulders, someone definitely had to live. The whole monument looks more like a natural fortress in the middle of the desert.
There is something to see here, unlike mud volcanoes)
It looks very much like some kind of wiring, the stones are supposedly 10 thousand years old, limestone, and the pictographs have not been erased, although swipe your finger over the stone and then the limestone remains
