Since there are no recent reviews, I will write my own. To warn the incoming guys, because a year ago I read these reviews myself.
I'll start with the location of the buildings - it's absolutely inconvenient, I studied for a year at GSU, and we were constantly paired in different buildings, had to run. And this takes up time that can be spent on banal eating / going to the toilet. The attitude of certain teachers towards students is terrible! They don't put it in anything! They can knock you down, raise your voice and insult you in exams, I think this is unacceptable, especially at the Faculty of Psychology.
A separate issue with the hostel provided by GSU = get ready for cockroaches and bedbugs (numerous), they are being poisoned, but not enough. The administration ignores outright unsanitary conditions. And from there, cockroaches with bedbugs. But they will make you do repairs! They hadn't done repairs for 4 years before us, but during the time I lived, there was a rule that repairs should be done every year :) and not only by 3-4-year students, but also by 1-year students.
What else can I add, it was very problematic to pick up the documents, 1000 workarounds are being invented, which are simply physically unrealistic to sign in a short time, with people who do not want to sign them. Everything is done carelessly.
I can thank the university for the not very positive experience :)
I can say about the building that the layout is convenient, it's impossible to get lost. Everything is very simple and conveniently located, one "BUT" the elevator does not work and people go up to the 6th floor on foot. And I'm talking about the elderly and the disabled now. The building is currently undergoing repairs. Because the windows are old in most classrooms and it is very cold in winter, and in summer they do not open the windows because it blows very much. With all the shortcomings of the building, education is at the highest level. I can only talk about my specialty (Computer Physics). There is an opportunity to go for an internship, get experience in other countries (Germany, Poland, Russia, Japan - what I remember from the whole list). The main thing is to know the language. Teachers are responsive, highly qualified, always explain and support (phys. the best). Of course, I can't list everything. I am always ready to answer questions😊
I liked the fact that most of the teachers are loyal to students and teach quite well. The training program is terribly old, and not cut from 5 to 4 years, but compressed. Couples often have to be delivered or written off altogether. The relatively recent specialty "Programmable mobile Systems" is very good and its course is not loaded with unnecessary subjects.
A good level of education in a wide range of specialties, the possibility of continuing education in graduate and postgraduate studies, advanced training and retraining.
The building is not very old, but since the first days of autumn it is quite cold inside, in winter it is impossible to sit out 1 pair without outerwear, despite the fact that they are heating. There are turnstiles that are very annoying, especially in the evening when students are trying to go home. The elevators don't work, you won't be able to eat in the building either, because there is a very modest choice in the local diner, and if you study in the second shift, there may not be any food at all. There is an unpleasant smell in the bathrooms on the second and fourth floors.
The building is primarily the Faculty of Physics and Information Technology, its neighbors are the Faculty of Foreign Languages and the Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogy. Those who go to connect their lives with technology, including computing, cannot find a better place to study. The Faculty of Physics and Information Technology employs intelligent people who are professionals in their field, there is a wide range of specialties. Of the IT specialties, I recommend "Automated information processing systems".
The marks for CT should be reduced so that there is a better chance of admission. And then I went to GSU last year. Skaryna was unable to enroll due to the fact that there were not enough points.
