An amazing place where you can stay alone with nature! Picturesque views are literally at every step, so the travel time strongly depends on whether you are just walking from point A to point B, or walking and enjoying the beauty! But it is better to lay at least 3 hours on the road to the glacier tongue. There is a clear path only to the beach of the Smile of the Shkhelda, then it is not obvious, but it is clear where to go in principle. There are stone tours on the route that serve as a guide. It is not difficult to walk even on a stone bulk, crossing numerous streams can be a problem (this is if, after the Smile of the Shkhelda, you cross the suspension bridge over the river and move to the left of it). But if you do not cross and move on the right side, then it seems like you can walk straight to the glacier (but this is not accurate).
The Shkhelda Glacier is definitely recommended to visit!!!

A super atmospheric place. There are no crowds of tourists, no beaten paths, no Internet, you, nature, silence, greatness. The suspension bridge and the promise of its construction cause a little fear))) The location is great, worth a visit. Getting to the glacier on boulders is another quest, crossing the river several times, galloping like a mountain goat to your goal, focusing on tours, there is no trail under your feet😁 recommended to visit 👍

A very picturesque and truly legendary mountain, striking the traveler with its pinnacled towers, steep northern slopes. The highest point is the eastern Shelf (4320 m). The mountain is located at the end of the gorge of the river of the same name flowing from the Shkheldinsky glacier. The trail to the gorge starts from the famous alpine camp "Shkhelda", located near the village of Tegenekli. It takes about 1 hour to walk to the smile glade of the Shkhelda, and another 1.5 hours to the beginning of the glacier and the grotto.
Shkhelda Mountain and adjacent territories - Shkhelda's Smile, glacier with grotto, Aristov's overnight stays - border territory, it is necessary to issue a pass through the FSB border department in advance.
I strongly recommend visiting this place and seeing the Mountain.
