The new mosque is located very high on the hills, it looks modern and restrained, there are elevators, parking, but no frills. There is a beautiful park nearby
It is extraordinary, beautiful and magnificent at any time of the day or night. We've been there 3 times and I'll be back again. Be sure to visit there in the evening to enjoy the views of Istanbul at sunset.
The Çamlıca Mosque is called the new symbol of Turkey. The construction of a unique cultural and religious complex in Istanbul began back in 2013, and 6 years later the grand opening took place.
The mosque is located on the hill of Chamlija (Uskyudar district), offering spectacular views of the Bosphorus and the whole of Istanbul. In the relief landscape of Istanbul, Chamlija Hill is the highest point (263 m above sea level), visible from many areas of the city.
The complex can accommodate more than 60 thousand believers and tourists at the same time. In addition to the mosque, there are:
— Museum of Islamic Art;
— library;
— exhibition galleries;
— art studios;
— conference rooms;
— closed parking for 3.5 thousand places.
The exterior and interior of the Chamlija mosque combine elements of architecture from three eras — pre-Ottoman, late Ottoman and modern.
At the moment, it is considered the largest not only in Turkey, but also in the world. The dimensions exceed all previously existing ones: the diameter of the central dome is 34 m, height is 72 m; 6 minarets (four are 107 m high, two are 90 m high).
The minarets are decorated with cherifes — small elegant balconies. The muezzin's calls to prayer were previously heard from such balconies, now they perform a decorative function.
The park area surrounding the mosque includes landscape and architectural forms, places for walking and recreation, and observation decks. Grandiose in size, elegant in shape, exquisite in decoration, comfortable and spacious building with surrounding buildings has no analogues among similar structures.
