The Tbilisi Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, abbreviated Sameba, is the main Orthodox Christian Cathedral in Georgia. Located in Tbilisi, on the mountain Eliya (Avlabari district). It was built in 1995-2004 by architect Archil Mindiashvili. It is the largest cathedral in Georgia.
We really liked this cathedral. It has a large and well-maintained territory. But despite this, it is always quiet and peaceful here. Since the cathedral was not far from our hotel (it can be seen from the terrace), we came several times just to sit on a bench without going inside and enjoy the atmosphere.
On the territory of the cathedral there is a pond with geese, as well as aviaries with chickens and many beautiful flowers.
The largest and, formally, the most important cathedral of Georgia and the entire Georgian Orthodox Church. The samoeba is visible from many parts of the city and from all viewing platforms. The temple is majestic and very beautiful. The area around the temple includes many sculptures and chapels, as well as a small park with a cozy cafe. In the temple you can see several ancient icons, as well as one modern, but very rich one.
The Orthodox Trinity Cathedral is of stunning beauty and grandeur. I highly recommend you to visit. The territory at the temple is also impressive. Tsminda Sameba (Holy Trinity Cathedral) is the main temple of the Georgian Orthodox Church and the tallest church in Georgia and Tbilisi, the second cathedral of the Georgian Orthodox Church after Svetitskhoveli. It is located in Tbilisi, on the hill of St. Elijah (the left bank of the Kura), on the site of the monastery of Khodji-Vank of the XVII century. There are 10 thrones in the cathedral. The lower church is dedicated to the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. There is a belfry and three temples: one in honor of the prophet Elijah, the second in honor of the Holy Spirit (it houses a cruciform baptismal pool) and the third in honor of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God above the gates of the monastery. It hosts services for the deaf and dumb. The total height of the cathedral with an underground floor is more than 100 meters. The height of the cathedral from the ground to the foot of the cross is 77 m. The height of the cross itself is 7.5 m. The Cathedral ranks third in the world among Orthodox churches in height. Inside, the temple resembles a museum: the walls are decorated with frescoes and paintings by various artists; the floors are lined with marble and decorated with mosaics. Several very valuable relics are kept in the temple.
A very beautiful cathedral, which is made in a modern and ancient Georgian architectural style, Tsminda Sameba Cathedral ranks 3rd in the world in height among the pro-Orthodox churches, is located in Tbilisi on the left bank of the Kura River, worth a visit
A magnificent place, an absolute landmark of the city of Tbilisi! They did not visit the temple during worship, so they could freely explore the decoration of the temple. The architecture is at the highest level, there are a lot of ancient icons in the content. The atmosphere is peaceful. You can not enter the temple in shorts and mini! This is a shrine of Georgia, so I recommend you to visit!
photos were taken a little(((((
It's a very beautiful place. It was built in the 2000s on the site of an old Armenian cemetery! Although I was born of a different faith, I visited the holy place with great pleasure) you come out of the Samoeba with wings on your back) Good luck to all
A huge and very beautiful church in the center of Tbilisi! It is very atmospheric, I recommend it to everyone who is in Tbilisi now. A place where hope becomes reality 🙏🏼🫶🏼
We were passing through Tbilisi!! We went on an excursion!! I really liked it!! We fell in love with Georgia! There are plans to visit the Kakheti region next year!! Georgia is beautiful!!
The most beautiful building, located in the very center of the city on a hill, grace comes at the entrance to the territory , clean, well-groomed, absolute order.
A very beautiful temple, a must-visit point in Tbilisi and its decoration. Visitors are subject to the same requirements as in the churches of the Russian Orthodox Church: you can not enter in shorts, mini-skirts, girls — with their heads uncovered. Despite this, during our visit, the free shawls ran out, our group was launched, and the presence of girls with uncovered hair did not cause any problems or negativity.
This is a very special place for me. When I come here, the sun usually shines) it's nice to walk on the observation deck and of course go to the temple! Here I bought a ring and a bracelet for memory, which protect me (believe it or not). I met wonderful people here by chance. And there is also a fir tree with cones on the territory, of extraordinary beauty. And even though there is no bench under it now, you can just stand, look at the sky and listen to the birds. Grace❤
After reading the article and learning about this place in the largest directory about Georgia, Madloba.info Now I want to visit the Wake Sameba Church even more! It impresses with its architecture and majestic view from the outside. I learned that the surrounding nature is also beautiful, with an abundance of trees, bushes and flowers. I am also looking forward to meeting local people who can tell me the history of this church and interesting facts about it. I will definitely visit this place!
A grandiose temple, with two underground temples! Very beautiful icons and shrines! In the altar of this temple there is a holy stone of David of Garija! The beautiful territory and the temple itself is very beautiful!
It's a very beautiful place. I walked from Marginashvili Ave., got a little off the route of the navigator and went up the stairs, where there are no tourists
A huge, beautiful, new temple! Very interesting. If you come to Tbilisi, then be sure to watch it! It's not far from the center. I liked the huge white marble hall under the temple.
It is beautiful, majestic and rich, but the evil grandmother did not let me, my wife, or my son in shorts. It is good that God does not live in temples and does not set conditions for those who want to come to Him...
The land sung by the poet. A fascinating place, but it should lead with the time of the year in order to see the difference in the color of the water of the merging rivers. This did not happen on my last visit.
