The ancient building was built in 1938 by architect Levinson, Kazakh writer Mukhtar Auezov lived here. Here he wrote the story The Way of Abai. During the Great Patriotic War, artists and writers evacuated from Moscow and Leningrad lived here, Prishvin and his family lived in Auezov's apartment. Now the first floors of this historic building are occupied by restaurants that carry out illegal redevelopment, causing irreparable damage to the building and communications, as well as disfiguring the historical appearance.
