A very authentic Cuban hotel, built in the form of a mini-city with colorful neighborhoods, streets and squares. A huge territory, a spacious and clean beach, and a stunning ocean! The rooms and meals are simple: everything you need is there, cooked with high quality, but do not expect special delights and Turkish variety. My main impressions are bright colors, delicious natural coffee and a huge number of singing people (singing both national songs and opera arias in well-modulated voices - whether it's a guest artist, or just a cook in the kitchen while cooking dinner). And Cubans, despite all the difficulties of life, are sincerely proud of their homeland and do everything so that tourists also fall in love with it. This is worthy of respect!
This is a real piece of paradise!
A huge green area, with lots of pools, bars, places to relax.
Cozy rooms, nice presents from the maids, cute smiling staff.
They like tips. But no one asks or extorts. If you want, you give it. If you don't want to, no one will get into your pocket.
The food is normal, do not forget that we are in Cuba. You won't stay hungry, but you shouldn't expect any frills. "All inclusive" in Cuban is not equal to "all inclusive" in Turkish. These are different things and they are very different.
Incendiary, fiery animation! Cubans can light up!
But the most important thing is the ocean!
An incredible combination of snow-white sand and hundreds of shades of blue, light blue, turquoise sky and water!
It's worth flying here just for that.
You can meditate for hours to the sound of birds singing on the shore.
The purest clear water, the most beautiful views, pelicans and herons - an atmosphere of complete relaxation and tranquility.
Delicious coffee in the lobby bar.
We walked all along the coast, went to other hotels. In general, all hotels, plus or minus, are the same in terms of service. The nutrition is also almost the same for everyone. There are minor nuances, but not significant ones.
Someone with a sour face and pursed lips, frowning, sits dissatisfied on the beach and grumbles that there were not enough spoons for lunch. And the vacation is ruined. And everything is very bad.
Someone gets high from the heart from the unreal beauty of the ocean and the atmosphere of relaxation.
Everyone gets their own)
Everyone sees this life in their own way)
The hotel itself is chic, the rooms are generally divinely cozy, the room cleaning is perfect, without requiring a tip.The bed is clean, the towel was changed constantly. All questions are solved at the reception, many people speak Russian. The staff is very polite. All the excursions that I took were on top. Especially a romantic dinner! Guide Alla, always went to help in the exchange of money, from the map of Russia. Thanks a lot to her for that. But there was one biggest disadvantage, so it was the food. We were fed for the first 5 days, at the highest level for the framework of Cuba. But then it was just a horror. And the guy who gave out deep-fried straws in the evenings. It's just like he's doing us a favor.I was always unhappy. They served their meat in huge portions, but that's exactly how it was for Russian tourists. It was three years ago, there was no such disrespect. Disappointed. But the ocean is something worth coming back for.
We went from May 15 to May 22. It rained a couple of times. But the weather is generally good. Tanned quickly. We were going to relax, not to look for cons at the hotel. The hotel is tired, but there is no tragedy in this. The Caribbean Sea, the beach, the sun - that's what you need to get high in Cuba. There were no problems with food. The staff is polite and very pleasant. Bring Alenka's chocolates and you and them will be happy. They love Russian chocolate and they have it in huge short supply. Many men in the staff have children, so they are for chocolate for children, they will almost serve you individually. One HUGE disadvantage of Cuba, not only this hotel. MOSQUITOES!!! The only thing that saves is the spiral, which you need to carry with you constantly lit! Otherwise, there will be bites everywhere. They are not mosquitoes, but cannibals!
Very good animation. The guys did something interesting every night. And dance shows and songs and live music, karaoke. Everything is cool. It's nice to sit in the bar in the evening. I even saw a crab that was just walking along the path. And also, there's a problem with the water. Ask for houses closer to the beach, it's better there.
Gorgeous clean beach, wide coastline. There are pools, but we didn't use them. The hotel has a very large territory. Many buildings are closed. We were working in a new one. Close to the airport - 10 min drive. The rooms are cleaned daily, but formally. There were interruptions with hot water in the rooms. There are a lot of mosquitoes in the rooms, Russian fumigators do not take them ((( Food ....you won't stay hungry, but the choice is not great. Flies in restaurants...a lot of((( Bars are excellent, good alcohol for every taste and good Cuban coffee)
We rested on the 20th of March 2023.
A large, clean area! Swimming pools , bars, restaurants…
The food is without variety, we were well-fed, coffee, tea, alcohol-whatever you want…
The rooms are clean with the whitest towels, shampoo gel cream hair dryer everything is there…
There is drinking water and gas in the room every day. Drink
The Internet was very annoying (my iPhone) was used as a camera
The ocean is just fantastic!!!!
We liked everything, who wants to relax there💕
The area is very beautiful. The bright and colorful facades of the hotel, which cannot be said about the room stock. But, these disadvantages are covered by a magnificent ocean. Sometimes herons walk, pelicans fish.., seagulls are waiting for you to walk with French fries and share with them. Breakfasts are meager, lunches too, dinner is good... several types of fish, mussels, squid, crabs.. Very tasty papaya and pineapples. The staff is friendly, but they like to be rewarded for everything-for example, presents in the form of chocolates, things, tips. The territory is clean. The beach is clean.
And I liked it! This is Cuba, gentlemen, not Turkey) A magnificent ocean, a cool beach!!! Yes, the rooms are already a little old, but in general it's great, take the building that starts with 1.. Or an additional payment only by card, 20 USD per day. Breakfast and dinner are great! The dinners are more modest, not in the main restaurant. But you won't stay hungry. I don't even write about rum. Relax, enjoy. Go to Pilar, take a catamaran ride, visit Havana, Trinidad. Try lobsters at local restaurants. Volleyball, water polo. Forget about the phone and get high on vacation!
The best hotel on Cayo Coco! The responsive staff, the atmosphere of the hotel is not standard, but in the style of a small town. You wander through the streets with colorful houses and drowns in greenery and ponds with crabs and colorful fish.
In early July 2023, we vacationed on Cayo Coco Island at the Muthu Colonial Cayo Coco 4* hotel.
It was 15 wonderful and unforgettable days. This is not the first time we have been vacationing on this island. This is the first time at the Colonial 4* Hotel. The hotel was chosen according to their preferences – authentic, colorful with its own unique atmosphere. Everything that we expected from a vacation, we got in full, and even more, here.
The territory of the hotel is very large, green, well maintained. But so far, half of the hotel is being renovated, but this does not interfere with rest in any way. Hotel accommodation in buildings – 2 and 3-storey buildings in the colonial style, full immersion and the spirit of the colonial old Spain. The rooms are clean, the occupancy is standard. Mosquitoes are present in some rooms because there are no double-glazed windows and mosquito nets. It is necessary to stock up on 2/3 different types of repellents – this is a problem all over the island, but not critical, we managed it))
Since the hotel is not fully operational now - the low season, there are few tourists, breakfasts and dinners are held in a small restaurant. Every morning you can sign up for an Ala carte restaurant (Caribbean, Italian, Mediterranean). The service in the restaurants is excellent, the waiters are friendly and attentive to all tourists without exception. The chefs try to cook the dish individually according to the requests of each (if any). This applies to all restaurants. On Fridays, lunch is held in the main (large restaurant) with barbecue, dancing, show program - a festive atmosphere). I really liked the concept of the hotel for lunch – it is not standard (not in the main restaurant, as in many hotels), you can choose either a beach bar or a pool bar, or you can have lunch there, and then continue in another one. We got it)) A small nuance – Cuba is not a gastronomic country, but you will not be hungry, the choice is small, but the food is delicious. Those who are waiting for delicacies and a Turkish buffet are not here.
I would really like to mention the work of the bars and especially the bartenders of this hotel. It's just amazing!!! Perhaps there is not such a large selection of drinks and cocktails, but bartenders always try to make the best drink for the client so that he is satisfied. If a bar was running out of a drink, the bartenders advised and suggested where it was now. Decent alcohol of good quality: several types of rum, white wine, champagne, tequila (silver, gold, chocolate), brandy Torres, vodka, gin, whiskey and much more. And what a delicious coffee in the morning, after breakfast in the lobby bar – it's just a song! Our love is the bartenders on the beach Ricardo and Alex, in the lobby bar – Sebayos, Jose Ramon, Mikel, Leiner and the young beauty Yana, the bartenders in the pool cafe - Aydel and Bolanos. All of them made our vacation wonderful and memorable!!! Thank them for that!
With special respect, I would like to note the work of the management and management of the hotel, which closely monitors and controls the work of all hotel staff, instantly respond to the requests and wishes of guests. Thanks to them - Antonio Sabate Terres, Rodolfo, Niuris, customer service manager Nidio and Daylen, the hotel retains its attractiveness, originality and uniqueness. I would like to emphasize once again that the entire hotel staff, from the gardener to the general manager, tries to make the rest of the hotel guests unforgettable! Thank them so much!
And most importantly, the fabulous beach of the hotel! It's huge, clean, and beautiful. There are always free sun beds, there are a huge number of them, you do not need to occupy them. A big plus is that the canopies on the beach were covered with palm leaves on the left side in 3 days – and now there is 100% shade. The ocean is amazing. You can sail a catamaran for free, even every day. For an additional fee ($20), you can go on an excursion to the reef, a snorkel / mask / fins are provided. Cuba is love at first sight and for life. Those who have fallen in love will not be able to part with her anymore. We are from this number, fortunately))
A great hotel with everything you need for a holiday.
Take with you a current from cockroaches and at least 2 pcs of mosquito repellent.
The beach is a bomb!
The food is great.
Sunsets are a bomb!
The animation is excellent for my personal taste.
The main and most useful person in the hotel is Nidyu, small and bald, speaks excellent Russian.
It helps to solve all the issues.
In short, the hotel is cool-period!)
I RECOMMEND IT
P.S. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING EXQUISITE, THEN YOU DEFINITELY ARE NOT HERE OR IN CUBA.
The territory is large, beautiful, the architecture is like Trinidad in miniature). In general, this is the very first hotel on Cayo Coco, opened by Fidel himself) But now, unfortunately, most of the hotel is abandoned, 2/3 of the buildings are not residential.
The beach and the ocean are gorgeous, you can ride a sailing catamaran or a water bike for free, for money they will take you to a coral reef where you can swim with a mask (there are fish, but compared to Egypt there is nothing special). There are enough canopies and sun beds for everyone, but there are no palm leaves on the canopies, so the shade there is conditional and you can burn in no time. There is a shower on the beach (next to the bar) but it does not work, there is also nowhere to wash your feet, you had to stomp to the room with your feet in the sand or wash your feet in the nearest pool)
We were in early May, there were very few people in the hotel, mostly all from Russia, and in the end a lot of Cubans arrived. The main restaurant did not work, the food was so-so at first, although perhaps it is still better than in other Turkish foursome, no matter what anyone says. And comparing the budget Cuban four with the premium Turkish five is not quite correct). And when the Cubans arrived, it became super, there were fruits in the assortment, and pizza for lunch and even lobsters for dinner! The alcohol is of high quality, except for rum, there was excellent, albeit low-alcohol beer, good Spanish wine and even champagne, although not always. The range of cocktails depends on the availability of ingredients and tips to the bartender). They make an excellent mojito, pinacolada. In all restaurants, the main problem is flies, at first it was shocking, then they stopped paying attention).
Another problem (this probably applies to all Cayo Coco) - mosquitoes, without smearing themselves with repellent, it is better not to go outside in the evening, they will devour! They also get out in the room, there are huge cracks in the windows and doors through which they fly, the fumigator almost does not help. The doors to the toilet are original - according to the type of shutters at the entrance to the saloon in the Wild West) It was also weird at first, then we got used to it). The air conditioner in the room is central, it seems to be cold, but not very much. An extra bed for the child was beaten out with a fight, but in the end they brought it. Not a cot, but a full-fledged bed, there are plenty of places to put it in the room.
There is a wasteland and swamps around the hotel, however, as everywhere on Cayo Coco. For bird lovers, it's just a paradise here - herons, pelicans, seagulls, petrels, turkey vultures, hummingbirds (although we only saw them briefly and from afar, but someone was more lucky). But to see flamingos, you have to go to Cayo Guillermo! Although if you go on an excursion to the mainland, they also meet along the embankment across the sea. You can walk along the beach to the neighboring Trip and Mojito hotels and through them to the Chaika shopping center (La Gaviota).
There was animation every evening - mini disco, dancing, songs, live music, disco, but generally quite weak. Perhaps because it was not the season and there were really few viewers.
In general, the hotel is not bad by Cuban standards, especially if it is not expensive!
We just returned from a vacation, which we were completely satisfied with! The flight is certainly very long, but Cuba is worth it. We checked into the rooms very quickly. Yes, the room stock is very tired, but this is Cuba.... We were prepared for the fact that the food is not very good, as many wrote.... But there was plenty of food! We had to stand in line for grilled food, but we came later and we could do without queuing. The entertainment program was varied both in the afternoon and in the evening. The guys tried very hard. The Internet is free, sometimes it flew out and you had to go to the reception to update. The ocean!!! The beach!!! Everything is clean, a bar with soft and hot drinks, a fresh water shower on the beach. There were mosquitoes, but the fumigator helped. But there are just hordes of flies in the restaurant.... and you can't cope with them.... The staff is very friendly and helpful, but in no hurry...this is their way of life. I came to rest - rest, don't fuss, enjoy.... Cuba is different for everyone - for someone it's just a vacation, for someone it's love forever... For us, Cuba is love!!!! We'll be back here!!!
We were very pleased with the hotel, it looks much better than in the photos, a large and well-maintained territory, excellent and varied food (for this region). The rooms are large and cozy, clean. And of course, just the extraordinary beauty of the beach and the ocean!
Awesome hotel👍 The hotel has a very large territory. Great beach, cool animation, high-quality and expensive drinks. It was opened by Fidel Castro himself. A very colorful place steeped in Cuba🤩
We were in Cuba in February 2023. Did we like it? What did you like?
That's it, the ocean.
The hotel is bright and that's the truth in the colonial style. Many people said that the slave Izaura would come around the corner right now. The staff is generally positive, of course there were those who looked more towards the Canadians and Spaniards, and all because they leave tips, but we don't. But this is not such a big minus, he did not spoil my vacation. The food is great!!! I ate too many pineapples. There were shrimps and a lot of meat. And of course RUM. They don't spare him there, they pour into cocktails from the bottom of their hearts! We took another tour and swam with dolphins. The price tag for the tour is exorbitant, but I am happy with the dolphins, so I do not regret that we went!!!
The 4* hotel and it is, even if the room stock is not new, but everything is OK.
I recommend this hotel for a beach holiday 👍
Pros: the ocean, the beach, the appearance of the hotel, alcohol (not only locally produced).
Cons: food: meat sometimes barely sulks, chicken is delicious, but dead, fish seems to be nothing, salads- beetroot with carrots, parking with cabbage, cabbage with beetroot, cucumbers, cucumbers with tomatoes, tomatoes with cucumbers (but, in short, understood.. 😄). Check out (the occupancy rate of the hotel was about 30-40%) for meat, chicken, eggs, fish- come to rest-rest in line. Soups are two or three types of something liquid, sometimes very salty, sometimes delicious.
For lunch for a child, water, fanta, cola, sprite (not a very good choice for a tropical country, especially for children ...). For breakfast there are three types of ready-made (like freshly squeezed) juices and a queue for a cocktail (juice + ice cream). You can't find small spoons during the day with fire, they give you coffee-there is no spoon - you have to ask (they can't guess for themselves), ice cream- similarly-you have to beg the waiter for a small spoon.. Flies!!! - it is very, very unpleasant when there are flies EVERYWHERE at a meal, there are a lot of flies, you constantly have to drive them away, otherwise they will devour the food for you. The waiters sometimes pretend that they do not notice you when you come to the canteen, there are no tables set and you sit and catch them with your eyes (sometimes with your hand) so that the table is covered with appliances, sometimes you had to go to their counters yourself for forks, spoons, napkins..
The rooms are clean, but everything is very old (except the mattresses), mold is ingrained in the bathroom around the bathtub, the mirrors are so old that there is already corrosion on them. The air conditioner either works or not, it is not regulated in any way. There is very little lighting in the room. The territory is normal, neither large nor small. Animation can be said to be zero, at best every other day volleyball, animators go to offer rum and sagars.
It was my best vacation ❤️ An unreal atmosphere awaits you!
For me, this was the first experience of a vacation in Latin America, which at first was accompanied by worries about flights, jet lag, the mentality of Cubans and others…
We purchased the ticket through Pegasus, I must say right away that as a tour operator Pegasus sucks, on the last day the flight to Moscow was decently postponed, and the tour operator did not even bother to inform us about it ... but that's later.
What about the hotel?
The hotel has a huge territory, which includes several swimming pools, tennis courts (not of the best quality), basketball and volleyball courts (on the sand), small shops next to the lobby. The staff is quite friendly, the bartenders and the main persons at the reception speak a little Russian, which makes life easier for Russian speakers.
ROOMS.
The rooms are ordinary, without any luxury, we had a room with a balcony and a view of the sea, in the evenings we played backgammon on the balcony, it was very atmospheric. Our room had a built-in safe in the wardrobe and a small refrigerator. They are equipped with air conditioning, hot and cold water.
INTERNET - to be honest, everything is not very good, my phone could not connect to Wi-Fi at all. The bottom line is this - upon arrival, they give you a piece of paper with your username and passwords and charge 2 hours there to sit longer - come to the reception and extend it. Well, it wasn't a problem, I came on vacation :)
FOOD.
Breakfast and dinner are served in the main room (canteen/restaurant) - buffet. Take what you want, eat as much as you want. The hot shop cooks with you, is divided into fish, meat, pizzeria and rice frying. (Usually). There is enough choice of food, a generous amount of fruits and vegetables on the tables.
Lunch takes place in three different places - by the ocean, by the salt pool and by the regular pool.
The most delicious thing we ate was fried fish by the ocean, and the food tasted better with such a gorgeous view. The salt pool has the same buffet. The usual one has something like an Italian restaurant.
If you are not full during the main meals, sandwiches and potatoes are prepared at the bar ( which is on the street).
ENVIRONMENT, ENTERTAINMENT
As you know, Cayo Coco is not a residential island, but a tourist one. The locals call it "OUTSIDE OF CUBA". Therefore, there is no entertainment outside the hotel. In principle, I really liked this entertainment program of the hotel, as if I were at a children's camp. There are so many events and activities. It was nice to sail on a boat and hear music and party only from our hotel, the rest spent their holidays in silence, apparently 🤣
My biggest impression is the guys of the entertainment team. They have such a strong energy, watching them dance and sing ... these Latin dances have captured my heart forever (almost every day the guys teach them on the beach!!). They all know English, they are very friendly and helpful - do not hesitate to communicate!)
There are also various interesting contests, the prize is a bottle of whiskey. I won't say that whiskey is wow, but the contests are really interesting :)
Every evening there is an event and after it a disco.
At sea - various games and dances are held on the coast, you can rent a kayak, catamaran, boat and snorkeling equipment for free.
bar
Well, the most important thing for ol inclusive is the bar. There is not much choice on the bar - I can tell you right away, Cubans don't need anything besides rum, it's all sorts of Pina coladas for Russians. Therefore, I advise you not to worry and take a cuba libre!) Very tasty coffee is prepared in the lobby, I advise you to try it.
Cuba is famous for rum, coffee and Cuban cigars (you can get them at the store opposite).
To summarize:
If you want to enjoy the Cuban atmosphere, the ocean and escape from the clutches of gray and continental everyday life - you are here. If you want to stay inclusive in a luxury hotel with incredible service, then it's better to choose something else. This place has hooked my soul.
And the last thing I want to highlight is that some tourists complained about losses and thefts. I advise you to be careful with your belongings, put the most valuable things in the safe or carry them with you. Cuba is on the verge of survival, poverty in provincial cities is off the scale. Therefore, I am not surprised that there is theft in hotels.
Have a nice trip!
The rooms are clean. Nice staff. Free internet connection. It is perfectly located in relation to the ocean. The cleanest beaches with fine white sand, no vegetation in the water.
A very instagrammed and quiet hotel, modest with both food and service, but this is Cuba, and you can only fly here for a view of the ocean and for swimming in it 😍
I was at this hotel for the first time in December 2016 and for the second time in February 2023, alas, the hotel has become worse, 2/3 of the buildings are under repair, the food is mediocre... But the beautiful beach and the ocean cover all the disadvantages!
The hotel was not ready to receive guests from vacation in 12 days, there was no water for 5 days, one day without light. Cockroaches with a cricket lighter. 2 days of poisoning of the entire hotel. The tin is full. We were in January 23. It's only gotten a little better in recent days. But the fact is....vacation by.
In a new country, everything is always interesting, and you can't hide anything. Just enjoying your vacation, well, minus one, there is no do not disturb sign on the door)
We were at the hotel from 17 to 28 November. The beach is great, there are enough sunbeds. The cuisine is not very diverse, but everything is fresh, both fish and meat. Seafood is scarce-there were squid twice.Fruits and ice cream every day. 2 pools - sea and fresh water. The territory is large, the Spanish-style houses are bright and colorful. The rooms are large. There are interruptions with water. The staff is friendly, the animation is good.

Nice clean beach. There are many sun beds . Good animation. The room is cleaned every day. The food is monotonous , but you won 't be hungry .
This is the most super vacation I've ever had. The first line, the gorgeous ocean, the food on the level and the rooms and in general the hotels deserve 5. I would have gone back there.
Great hotel! A beautiful ocean. Friendly staff, but sooo slow! They live without straining) once the light in the room turned off late in the evening, it was fixed in 15 minutes! It's a gorgeous area, there seem to be a lot of people in the hotel, but the territory is so big that we didn't really cross paths with anyone! If there were 20 people on the beach, then this is already a full house! The rum is gorgeous! There are no questions about food! Fish, chicken, meat are fried in front of you, pasta, pasta, scrambled eggs, omelets are made! I am 100% satisfied with my vacation. I had a rest from April 2 to April 14, 2019! Everything is great! Just be sure to take a spray from mosquitoes and midges, and anti-allergenic drugs, I've never been allergic to anything, and then I appeared in the sun, but it passed in 2 days! The only thing, in my opinion, is that there is no animation at all, but it didn't matter to me at all!
we were from November 8 to 17, 2019, arrived for the 2nd time at the same hotel as in 2018. Well, the beach and the ocean were great, so they remained. The rooms are given as usual away from the reception, then you have to change, they change without problems. The main restaurant has changed, a new one is now open, the old one is closed, the variety of food has become much less than last year, we were even surprised what happened, they say the owner has changed now the Cuban hotel, last year it belonged to Spain. They don't move into the reception buildings, they say there are some repairs and there are a lot fewer people this year. The freshwater pool bar is closed, and there are almost no people there. At the end of the rest, interruptions began in bars, then beer only on the beach or in front of the reception at the bar, then there is no dark rum, only in the bar in the tower or by the salt pool. Well, as well as the ocean and the sun, the beach is great and you won't starve. If, of course, you like the service to match, then it is better to choose another hotel.
We arrived at the hotel on February 20th. We flew a Boeing 777-300. The flight took 12 hours, it was easier than expected. We had a family vacation (my husband, me and my son are 12 years old). The board of our plane is fully filled, and it can accommodate 480 people! Of the entire flight, only 7 people arrived at the Colony, including us. There are a lot of Canadians, Cubans, a couple from Ukraine, Poles, and a lot of African Americans here. There is no Russian speech around at all. Only one side of the hotel is open. I really like nutrition. Everything is of high quality. Three types of meat, three types of fish, shrimp, mussels. Everything is fresh, fried in front of you. There is a lot of ice cream. Breakfast- fried bacon, omelet with mushrooms, cheese, ham. There are delicious fresh fruits, they are made with you from the fruits that you choose. Drinks: wine, beer of good quality. The coffee is good for me. In addition to the main restaurant, there are two fast food cafes: burgers, snacks, and French fries. They make different cocktails. They are poured into both glass and plastic, but this is not fundamentally important for us. We went to la carte, Italian cuisine. For me, the main restaurant tastes better)) but for a change, it's interesting to visit la carte. Animation. The musicians sing every day. There was a dance show yesterday. There are sports games at the pool, my husband likes it). The territory is large and well maintained. Palm trees with coconuts. The ocean is incredible! There is an observation deck to the left of the beach. There the beach ends and there is a stone ledge. It's interesting to dive with masks there. We dived, saw crabs, fish, hedgehogs. My son is delighted with the flora and fauna! There are a lot of crabs, shells in which crustaceans, lizards, colorful butterflies live. Birds: whole flocks of pelicans, seagulls large and small, and other different birds, it is very interesting to watch. The beach is clean, the ocean is just incredible! The hotel offers free catamaran and boat rentals. There are two souvenir shops and various goods for tourists on the territory of the hotel. The pools are clean. In general, it feels like the hotel is not very full. It's kind of half-working. But there are advantages to this. My husband really likes that there are not many people. There is no crowd, fuss, queues in the restaurant, free sun beds are always available. And what a space on the beach! We really liked it. This is our best vacation! It's also our first time on the ocean, before that we were in Turkey and Egypt, so it impresses us! It's high-quality here. And food, and animation, and service. Most of the staff are friendly. Angel and Nydia are the managers of the service. They speak Russian, they wonder if we like everything. You can contact them with any question. In general, in my opinion, it is very good here. The hotel is certainly a bit old, it shows. This hotel was opened by Fedel Castro in the early 90s. Then there was an economic crisis in the country, and in order to get out of it, they decided to develop Cayo Coco Island, making it a tourist center. This is the first hotel on the island. I can imagine that at the time of opening it was the most gorgeous. So we can say that the Colonial is even a landmark! He has his own style. It's like you get into the past, like in the movie "Slave Izaura")) such a small Spanish town. Regarding the changes in the hotel, they are related to the fact that it was previously funded by Spain (the Iberostar network). Due to the breakup of the relationship, the financing of the hotel stopped. The hotel is currently being financed by Cuba. This is significantly less than before, so the hotel is having a difficult time right now. A tourist is vacationing with us, he has been here for the third time! According to him, compared to his previous visits, the hotel has now significantly "dropped". And for us, who are visiting for the first time, everything is quite good. Comfort is enough for us, the quality is pleasing. The hotel is trying to maintain its level, you can feel it. He's so "soulful," like a "good old Colonial."
If you need a service, then it's better not to go. If you need a beautiful landscape, a magnificent sea, delicious food (fried fish and meat are cooked with you), various fruits and much more - free alcohol - then you are here)
The hotel is not bad, but you can run into burnt alcohol, priority is given to everyone except Russians in service, even if you are the first in line, the bartender will ask a Canadian or a Spaniard what he needs. And it doesn't depend on the tip, they always left a little change. On the plus side, there are no difficulties with towels)) no one steals them from the beach, and no collateral or cards for them.
The hotel is very old, the sewer is leaking, the rooms were poorly cleaned, the food was average, there was no animation for children and adults. The only plus is the ocean!!!
I really liked the hotel, but the food was a little meager. It's like the cooks are working for the first day. But in general, I liked the rest. I will definitely come back again

It's fine, there are no critical flaws, the room stock has certainly worn out, but in Cuba this is apparently a normal condition. The animation is quite entertaining, it's interesting to see, they try. There is a playground for children, a shallow pool, but on my arrival it all did not work, although there were children.
