The museum has a large collection of folk instruments, not only Kazakh ones. A video is being shown in one of the halls, and you can get acquainted with the sound of some instruments. It will be interesting to everyone who is interested in music, folklore, and ethnography
It's a very interesting place. The museum is small, there are 5 halls, as it seemed to me, but you can hang out in each for a long time. Beautiful instruments, description of the significance for the cultural heritage of Kazakhstan.
There is a large exposition of Kazakh instruments and other peoples, but this is one of the most non-interactive museums that I have visited. Each instrument is accompanied by a laconic signature "dombra 19th century", "kobyz" - the stands are not equipped with any additional information for self-study. There is simply nothing to do without a guide (you need to sign up in advance on a day off). We came on Saturday evening, according to the administrator, the guides were all busy, however, apparently, they simply were not in the museum - the guide did not work in any hall.
Bottom line: the collection is excellent, the museum practically does not perform an educational function. More of an exhibition than a museum
A cool museum, a lot of different instruments, unusual, I see many for the first time. I would really like the museum to have the opportunity to point the phone at the instrument, read the QR code and listen to the audio of how all these instruments sound. This is very lacking. Silent instruments, of course, are impressive, but it would be possible to enhance the effect!
A cool museum, there was a class there, it was free except for the teacher, they told and showed everything, but in my opinion it was very typical, I went and saw the same thing.
We went with the whole family, the younger one didn't like everything, the older one didn't like it very much, there were a lot of interesting exhibits, it was a little boring and there was not enough description of the exhibits, also technology by type of tablet with information about instruments worked poorly, musical accompaniment also does not work. I would like to listen to any musical instrument in this museum.
It is one of the best museums in Almaty. A special atmosphere, wonderful music, fascinating instruments. Everything is modern, I recommend taking a guided tour, friendly guides.

The museum is small and makes a pleasant impression. Some of the halls are dedicated to Kazakh folk instruments (mainly various dombra and kobyz are exhibited), and some of the halls are devoted to musical instruments from other Asian countries. Some of them are similar to Kazakh ones (for example, instruments from Azerbaijan or Turkmenistan), and there are very unusual ones from China, India or Indonesia
A great museum. Interesting tools from all over the world. A video showing how these instruments sound is shown in one of the halls. It is informative for both children and adults.
There is a large interesting exposition, you can listen to how some instruments sound, but ... the day before the tour, I went in and clarified: the tour is conducted by two people no later than an hour before closing - great! a few hours before the visit, I called, asked what time you were working - you were in time ... you arrived, and the only guide just went home early)))
It's not a bad museum, but without a tour there's not much that will be clear. The easy Travel audio guide works only in the first hall. Unfortunately, it was not possible to take the tour, as the guide was busy, he did not get free in an hour and a half. Plan a trip to this museum by booking a guide in advance.
A very interesting museum. We walked for a long time. We watched a lot and everything in a row. Amazing musical instruments of different peoples and generations. I couldn't even imagine that there are such things. Thanks to the museum administration
Very interesting. There is an interactive stand where you can listen to the sound of each instrument. The instruments of different peoples and different eras are presented. Quite inexpensive. The son was delighted.
Very informative!
I recommend it to Almaty residents.
Tourists will be there anyway.
But only with a guide, if not an expert in folk music.

I really liked the museum. There are a lot of interesting things, especially the good music that is playing in all the halls. I would also like to know which instrument is playing)) You understand that he is standing in the hall where you are standing - but which one?..
an interesting and interesting museum
A large modern museum of folk instruments.
Carefully selected exposition, about 10 halls. There are about 6 halls with instruments from Kazakhstan, the rest are from other countries.
The tour is quite boring, but nothing is clear without it.
It's a good museum, there are interesting tools. The exhibits are displayed competently, there is something to look at. Tickets are cheap. The location of the museum is gorgeous, you can go out and walk around the park
A very beautiful building and cool lighting day and night, but unfortunately there was no inside

A big exposition, BUT! It's not bright enough everywhere, you can't read the comments. The background is a recording of domra and some other instrument. There is no interactive, only a few tools have QR codes at the entrance and you can still read something. Ideally, there would be a rack with the ability to play sound at least in terms of instruments. And the opportunity to read through a link somewhere. A person with poor eyesight can't really make out anything on the 10th plate anymore. At the same time, the collection is simply wonderful!
By name, everything is clear in advance, but it's really boring to look at musical instruments. At the same time, there is no place to listen to music normally.
It is better to visit with an excursion, which should be arranged in advance. There are either few guides, or they don't want to work for such pennies!
I really liked the museum. The halls of national instruments are interesting, I really liked the kobyz. There are very beautiful pieces in the halls of the instruments of the world. I think I'll go there again.
The museum is open from 10 to 19.00. We came to the opening - there are no guides, sign up. We arrived at 15.00. People also joined us. The waiting time was not justified by the excursion. Alas!
A wonderful museum.
In the right part there is a collection of Kazakh folk instruments. On the left side there is a collection of instruments from different countries.
Of course, you can't listen or play, all the exhibits are under glass.

It is a very interesting museum, with many exhibits. There are many Kazakh folk instruments, and the variety of dombra was amazing. There are halls with instruments of other peoples and countries. Music sounds unobtrusively in the halls. The entrance fee is 500 tenge. There is a tourist information kiosk opposite the museum, a very nice young man works there, he helped me find a postcard to send home. In Kazakhstan, it turns out to be a problem to find a postcard.
The museum is original and very interesting. It presents an incredibly large number of folk musical instruments of Kazakhstan.
Music is playing in all the halls, and somewhere else they show videos of playing some folk instrument.
An excellent collection of named local instruments. All are unique even in the same class, apparently every musician made the instrument himself. In addition, there are several halls with instruments of other nations, including European, South Asian and Russian. The entrance is cheap, 500 tenge.
An amazing museum where musical instruments of many peoples of the world are exhibited. The hall with personal musical instruments of legendary personalities of the Kazakh people was especially impressed. Powerful energy from the witness instruments of several centuries! I recommend going and you won't regret it. It is a pity that the media wall was removed: previously it was possible to "stage" an orchestra there. The day was not in vain! 5 out of 5!
A museum for music lovers, you can find Kazakh ancient instruments and instruments of different peoples of the world. There are few visitors, so you can see everything without haste and even take a photo

It's a very interesting and original museum, and there are regular events.
I really liked the museum. An interesting point is that no matter which country you come to, each nation has its own music culture. It was interesting to learn about the traditional Kazakh instruments. I recommend visiting for those who have a life connected with music, and for general development, it's also cool to go and see.
The museum is very rich, there are many interesting instruments, there is an opportunity to listen to how each instrument sounds. There are links to an Internet site with a story about the tools. Many instruments of famous figures of Kazakhstan have been collected. I recommend it for a visit.
