I've flown twice. For those who arrive from Moscow, the plane arrives very early, so there is a reason to hang out / sleep at the airport itself. There are carpets everywhere - you can sleep peacefully just on the floor, this is the way it is done in India. Attention!! If you wander around, you run a high risk of accidentally leaving the building, as the ceiling continues for a long time after the building, and it will seem that you are still inside. The joke is that they won't let you back in after that, and you'll be sitting on the concrete waiting for your bus until morning- there are no benches there, and it may be cool at night. Be guided by the guards - if there are people in coffee-colored uniforms standing near some doors, then this is most likely the exit.
One of the advantages: As soon as you get out, there is a subway entrance 50 meters to the right and you can get to Delhi. (When will the metro finally reach the ports in Moscow??) Paying for a subway ticket is crazy - you need to know exactly which station to go to and buy a ticket to it, if you paid less, the turnstile will not let you out, you will need to pay extra at the ticket office. At each station, a policeman will put you on a bedside table and search you.
Now there are a lot of boutiques for those who are leaving, you can spend the remaining money, and give the change to the cleaners. There is a cozy food court on the 2nd floor. but! There's a cafe there, like Domino's. I ordered pizza there. I've been to India twice, traveled half the country, eaten street food, never had stomach problems. And then... International Airport, CAFE, PIZZA... Anyway, after that pizza, I fucked up the whole plane, it flew a little faster- I helped with traction, and then I ran for two more weeks. Here's a cafe like this. We need to find them and leave feedback.
In general, the port staff is very polite and always intelligibly explains and helps if you need help. I especially liked the staff and police officers at Calcutta Airport when I was taken off the flight on suspicion of terrorism, but that's another story and look for feedback at Calcutta Airport.)
It's a great airport, but if you get out, you won't get back in if the flight time is not nearby... they won't start the evening flight early in the morning. There's a currency exchange on the street, and I think there was one inside, too. There is a cafe. Airport taxi drivers scare you that you are going to a bad hotel, the hotel area is criminal, etc.... do not be fooled, go to your hotel ... otherwise you will rent a hotel in the same place only 3-5 times more expensive ...uber taxi drivers are excellent. Look at your terminal!!! They are far from each other and it takes more than 15 minutes by taxi))).
It's a good, big airport. It takes a very long time to pass the control, so I advise you to arrive early 3-4 hours before departure.
The queue to enter the business hall was about 50 people. There is a smoking room next to the food court. I did not like that neither in the business hall nor in the food court area could I hear announcements about the start of boarding.
At the airport, you can buy a sim card and download the Ola (local Yandex Taxi) application.
The metro is located near the airport, so getting to the city on a budget will not be a problem - the metro is very good, clean.
A very large modern modernized airport. Good repair. There is a very thorough, but polite and correct check at the entrance, they are afraid of terrorist attacks from Pakistan. There are a lot of people. The staff is attentive, seasoned and friendly, despite the heavy workload. In general, they do not save on staff here. There are many assistants with wheelchairs who help the elderly and the disabled to move around. There are a lot of shops in the international zone. If you did not have time to buy something in India or the baggage weight limit does not allow, feel free to leave your purchases at the airport. It is not at all more expensive here than in souvenir shops in the city. It is quite possible that not only local products are not expensive, but international brands are also available if they are manufactured in India. They sell for both rupees and dollars. You can purchase Ayurvedic medicines. In our waiting area from GulfAir, in addition to chairs, there were also beds installed, you can comfortably lie down and sleep. The air conditioners work well, you need to have warm clothes.
To be honest, I just wrote above. Like. I love India, the airport fits perfectly into everything we know about India, with all the pros and cons.
Keep in mind, the speed of movement is not only in Delhi, but also outside))) It can be 25-30km/h. Keep this in mind in your plans!
We visited the airport when we arrived and when we left. We arrived at 22-30 hours. We got off the plane by the sleeve and we were lucky, because the driver of a passenger 4-seater car kindly put us and the children in his car. We rode comfortably to the escalator, which we went down to the immigration control area. There were a lot of windows and long queues for everyone, I had to stand for a long time. Passport and visa control took place at a very slow pace. The children were quickly checked, and the adults were repeatedly asked to look at the camera for a long time. then apply a finger to fix the prints. We left the airport building in the dead of night and didn't remember or see anything. But we had a good look at the airport already on the return flight. The airport turned out to be modern, compact, spacious and very long. Everything is provided for the convenience of passengers. The only disadvantage is that WF was not connected and the mobile Internet was breaking through with a stretch. There were a lot of comfortable seats in the halls, there were enough for everyone, and there were more than enough people. The interior design of the building seemed very unusual with a local flavor. I remember the "wise wall", carpets under my feet and ... a long, long road with conveyors, probably about 2 km, to the arm of the side. There are a lot of police officers in the terminals.
When boarding, an overly thorough inspection is carried out, both the passenger and hand luggage, while women take a separate turn with a visit to the curtained cabin. At the same time, the staff is polite, friendly, but unhurried. Everything was informative and interesting.
There is not a single normal cafe where you can wait for the start of check-in, not all flights announce changes to the boarding gate
Otherwise, there are no questions
A beautiful and convenient airport. There are many check-in counters. They don't force you to throw away water bottles. Toilets are within walking distance.
One of the most uncomfortable airports in practice, possibly negative from local security services or complex organization of work. A large airport means a lot of passenger traffic. Upon arrival, passport control on the economy line with an electronic visa took about 50 minutes, on the business / 1st class line an hour longer (perhaps by accident, not systematically). Return flight-entrance to the terminal with a passport and ticket (printout or from the phone), registration immediately without condition ... hours before departure (AFL), document verification by an officer and a long return passport control, then again an officer with document verification, inspection with shaking out all electronic devices along with wires and chargers. Fans of IQOS and similar electronic smoking rooms have been prohibited from carrying them in hand luggage and LUGGAGE since January 23: control immediately throws them away! Duty-free: all prices are in local currency, a set of goods as usual in all similar places with local products. If there are local Indian rupees left, then without ambush, but if you plan to pay in USD / EURO, then the change will be sold only in local currency! Even if your friend deposited USD in front of you in the amount that there is 10,000% change after buying it, then get ready to persistently demand change in the currency you are paying with. They even refuse to exchange 50 USD for 5* 10 USD. And so it is all over the port. Before boarding the flight, how many people were taken to the baggage screening area... Next, a couple more boarding checks. Someone did not put a round stamp on the boarding pass and was not allowed on the plane, but I think the compatriot returned safely on board after the showdown. There are no announcements for boarding, navigate by time yourself. I can't remember a more negative port. There is no business lounge.
As in other dutics, it is cleanly and neatly arranged. Prices for some products are higher.

The old airport. Everything is slow. It takes at least 3.5 hours to dock. If you go to the house, then you can keep within 3 hours. There is a huge queue for inspection. The elkam business lounge is worse than in Sheremetyevo With its cheap wine. The impression of the docking cannot be compared with the Emirates.
An excellent, large and comfortable airport. But the passenger control system spoils everything - passport control for 2-3 hours. Inspection on arrival - the queue is for another 2 hours ... The inspection staff is in no hurry…
A huge and long complex. PCR is taken at the entrance from the Russian Federation regardless of the availability of the vaccine
Instructions for Delhi:
1.) Have a color printout of the Air Suvidha Form with you;
2.) Do not be afraid of chaos and look for the “Rapid PCR test counter” rack;
3.) As soon as you find it, instead of queuing up to sign up for the test, say that you have a reservation and the payment was made online: "We paid online".
4.) Show the booking barcode for the test, it will be scanned, and you will be given several pieces of paper with barcodes (for PCR test);
5.) An analysis fence is being made right next to the counter - go to people in special equipment with all barcodes;
6.) The result of the PCR test is sent by email within 60-90 minutes + it is better to get a printout at the counter;
7.) After receiving the result, immediately go to Immigration control (you will be asked to show the result of PCR three times before immigration, so keep it with you);
8.) Perhaps, in addition to other documents, you will be asked for other documents, for example, invitations.
9.) Once you pass Immigration control, get your luggage and go towards Domestic departures (the terminal is the same, you do not need to leave it);
I went to the airport by tuk tuk, from the Saket metro station, because they wouldn't let me on the subway. During the inspection in the subway, they saw several bottles of rum in my luggage on the TV. They said it was a flammable substance, and they wouldn't let you on the subway with it. Although a couple of hours before, I calmly drove with these bottles from New Delhi. There were 500 rupees left in cash. One Indian agreed to give me a ride to the airport for the money. We arrived at the airport around 23.00. The plane to Istanbul was at 7.30. I was allowed to enter the airport only when I showed a printed electronic ticket. I hung out in the waiting room until 4:00, then went inside. I finally ate at a cafe there. When I arrived in Delhi and went to the exit to the city, the airport did not seem very big. The biggest surprise was the carpets underfoot. The whole airport is covered in carpets. But when he flew away, he seemed huge to me.
We arrived on 12/26/2021 (flight Moscow-Delhi). I had a PCR test with translation and a Self Declaration form, which I preloaded on the website, but the airport staff demanded to do an additional test at the airport for $ 50.
Delhi Airport, big, beautiful. I want to say right away, be sure to keep your ticket with you, you will not be allowed to the airport without it, you should also not come there too early, you simply will not be allowed there. If my memory does not fail, you will be allowed in 4 hours before departure, and all because there are a lot of beggars and homeless people. There are many cafes and restaurants in the airport itself, comfortable sun beds)))we slept so well there)). Therefore, everything is strictly checked. There is also a currency exchange, of course, the exchange rate is not very good, but for the first time you can change it. What else did you like
about this big dutifrey)) a large selection of perfumes and spirits.
I will avoid connecting via India in the future.
The battery was missed in the carry-on luggage.
They saw it in the luggage and took it away. The woman even had her iPhone charger taken away.
After that, upon arrival in Moscow, we did not receive the suitcase in which we saw the battery...
Security, I understand. But some kind of mark could be made so that there would be no further problems with the luggage!
A comfortable long-term waiting room is located after the 8th gate, there are sun beds, you can sleep. The police are polite and will always give you the necessary information
This is India. The crush, a lot of security. The corridor system, if you went the wrong way, they won't let you back in. While waiting, even before the announcement of boarding, the police will check tickets and passports
