We recently stayed at the InterContinental Cairo Semiramis Hotel (Cairo, Egypt). The impressions of living here were good.
Advantages (+):
- The room was spacious and clean, with two comfortable large soft beds and all the necessary amenities.
- The balcony of the room had a fantastic view of the Nile River.
- The staff was friendly and helpful, always ready to help with any requests and questions.
We also really enjoyed dining and relaxing on the "Nile terrace", Ahmed Salah works here, who, like the rest of the staff, provided a high level of service and created a wonderful atmosphere.
Disadvantages (-):
I would like to note the not very convenient location of the sockets, since there are only 2-3 of them in a room for two people, and they are all located only in one place and far from the bed, and it is not possible to charge the phone next to the bedside table ((
It is also too noisy on the street, even with the balcony closed and from the 21st floor, car traffic is very audible, but this is rather a common problem in this country.
An excellent hotel in the center of Cairo, on the banks of the Nile. Cairo is a rather contrasting city and the final impression may strongly depend on the hotel. The Intercontinental pleased me, the only thing is that you need a room with a view of the Nile and then everything is generally gorgeous. The location is good, the hotel is huge, there are many restaurants, bars, recreation areas, swimming pool, spa, casino. Nice rooms, with everything you need, courteous staff, excellent breakfast. Yes, the hotel is not new, in places something is a little shabby, but this does not affect the quality of accommodation in any way and is logical for large, popular hotels.
A stunning hotel in the historical center on the banks of the Nile!
Very tasty restaurants, excellent breakfast, pleasant service!
There is a swimming pool outside.
We had a room on the 17th floor with a view of the Nile. The room has a bathroom and very comfortable beds.
A beautiful hotel on the banks of the Nile. Beautiful view from the window, pleasant atmosphere. You can choose a smoking room (you can smoke on the balcony). There are cafes and shops on the ground floor, there is even a DUTY FREE. Live music is played in the lobby in the evening. There was a Russian-speaking employee at the reception. It's bad, really, but we understood each other) . I liked everything. I was satisfied with my stay in this hotel. I recommend it!
Friendly staff. I especially liked the pool area and special thanks to the restaurant employee Akhmet. Beautiful view of the Nile from the room. The room is cozy, the beds are large, the duvets.

For which I took off 2 stars:
1. It is stated that check-in is from 15:00. But when we came to the reception to check in, at 15:40, they could not immediately check us in. They said that the room was not ready and they had to wait another hour.
2. We were checked into a smoking room. At the same time, on the website where we booked the room, there was no word that they divide the rooms into rooms for smokers and non-smokers. Usually, in principle, smoking is prohibited in decent hotels, except in specially designated areas... And they couldn't change our room right away either, we moved into a room where there was no smoke, only the next morning.
3. Smoking is generally everywhere in the hotel: in the restaurant, in the cafe, in the lobby, at the reception. At breakfast, someone can easily sit next to you and smoke. The only place where smoking is prohibited is the elevator. It's horrible. If we had initially known that such customs were here, of course, we would not have chosen this hotel.
Although it is an Intercontinental, but the hotel is quite shabby. This is a former Hilton (built probably back in the 60s, when it was cool, with its former splendor, marble countertops, tables for work, but with a shabby bathroom now. The carpet on the floor is very old in places. The air conditioning is central. I lived in the same Hilton in terms of architecture and interior design in Nicosia, Cyprus, there are many of them built everywhere in the world. In general, the former bourgeois splendor is felt. When you enter the room, you will find out that it is the Hilton, and then you look closely))
At the same time, the hotel tries in every possible way to maintain its level a la 4 stars: the breakfast is excellent, the mattresses are hard, excellent for quality sleep (I pay special attention to this). And a very central location, which is important for such a populated traffic jam city as Cairo.
What else: the price is 2 times cheaper than in a more modern analogue nearby.
In general, if you are not an oligarch, then it is quite normal to spend a few nights.
I didn't like the hotel itself, but the location is interesting, on the banks of the Nile.
The hotel is old, even too old, it looks very shabby, the bed is comfortable, clean.
The breakfasts are ordinary. In general, I will not return to it
Not a bad hotel. Beautiful view, but the rooms are a little old, but the fine linen! In the evening we went to an Italian restaurant, large portions, liked everything.
Alas, a very tired hotel, BUT with great fitness and a couple of good restaurants. It's not the best place for Cairo, despite the great location!

For Cairo, a very typical situation is formally five stars, but in practice about two 🤣
Dirty, dusty, everywhere the smell of cigarettes, dishes with traces of previous food.
Unfortunately, it's like this everywhere.
