The museum has many antique sculptures, sarcophagi, and coins of various ancient states. Part of the exhibition is dedicated to Troy: it shows the stages of the city's development and the artifacts found during its excavations. One of the halls explains in detail how archaeologists work. The museum has two floors, and the building is large, so if you look at everything in detail, you can spend several hours or more. There is a free audio guide for your phone, which also has the Russian language, but there are several nuances with its installation. Inside the museum, near the turnstiles, there is a stand with a QR code, with which you can download an audio guide application to your phone. You can do this if you have a mobile Internet connection, and there is no free Wi-Fi on the museum's territory. Next, using the audio guide application, you need to scan the QR code from the entrance ticket to the museum, and then you can download the actual audio guide files. A ticket to the museum can be purchased either at the ticket office near the entrance, or online on the official website. The cost in January 2025 is 15 euros.

The Archaeological Museum in Istanbul is certainly one of the best museums in the city with a rich collection of historical artifacts. Greek sculptures, household items and tableware, sarcophagi and ritual burial paraphernalia, as well as a separate hall dedicated to the semi-mythical city of Troy - all that makes up the cultural stratum of the ancient peoples who inhabited the Turkish lands long before the Ottomans. I highly recommend it to all History lovers.

I love archaeological museums, this is a rather modest exposition with a wealth of archaeological sites there. However, this in general could not have forced me to reduce the number of stars if not for the situation at the box office. We were deceived. First, they sold headphones for the audio guide, which we did not ask for. As a result, 700 lire was overpaid. They didn't figure it out because of the queue behind us. But when we found the Internet, we found out that we had been deceived twice. We paid 1,000 lire in cash. But we didn't have 700 more. That's why we decided to pay with a card. 1,700 were debited from the card. There was no way to detect it right away. As a result, a trip to the museum for two cost 2,700. Be careful. Even in state institutions they try to cheat.

The museum is incredibly rich in antique sculptures. The exhibition is complemented by panoramic paintings with subjects from different eras, which are presented in the halls. And there are artifacts collected for tens of centuries, since the time of Troy. By the way, separate halls with very informative descriptions are dedicated to this city. In general, for those who are interested - a museum for the whole day! It is better to buy tickets online, there is a long queue at the entrance. Even in the morning, I stood for about 20 minutes at the opening.

An interesting museum dedicated to the ancient history of Constantinople. The museum has a rich exposition of the Hellenistic, Roman and other periods of the history of the Great City. Of particular interest to visitors are artifacts related to the Hittite kingdom. I recommend visiting for lovers of ancient history. The price of tickets for foreigners is quite reasonable compared to tickets to Topkapi and St. Sophia.

Definitely a must-have for the room. The museum contains archaeological sites from all over Turkey. Stunning statues, sarcophagi. There are also many interesting and stunning finds in the courtyard, such as a huge keystone in the shape of a jellyfish's head.

The museum is interesting, especially for connoisseurs of history. Entry in February 2025 cost 575 liras. Unique exhibits are collected, it was especially interesting to look at the exhibits of Troy, I had never seen such a thing in museums before, there are several different halls, there are interactive ones. By a "lucky" chance, I got on school trips, the children were very active in shouting at the entire museum, almost touching the exhibits, the museum staff did not make comments, as did the teachers. I had to run to the second floor to quietly enjoy a piece of history.😅

It's a very, very, very cool museum! There are many incredible exhibits inside and outside in the courtyard! Be sure to pay attention to the porphyry (red stone) sarcophagi of the Byzantine emperors in the courtyard! We spent several hours in the museum and wanted to stay there and see everything in more detail. Cool catalog, I recommend buying it!

A wonderful museum! So far, it's the best collection I've ever seen! The Hall of Troy must be shown to children. Interactive tables are also good for children and adults. Admission is 30 euros. The only thing that makes me sad is the toilets. It's dirty. There's a hole in the floor. Rinsing with a jug by hand (((

It's not a bad museum. A large hall dedicated to the excavations of Troy. There is one big disadvantage - a bad audio guide. The guide is on your phone, but there is no WiFi, so if you don't have a mobile Internet connection, then nothing will work. In addition, the audio track signatures are only in the first halls. Then there are no signatures - you have to guess. The translation of audio track names into Russian is poor. In general, the audio guide was troublesome, but it costs + 100 lire for the ticket. It's easier to read signatures in English.

This is a place that definitely needs to be visited by connoisseurs of the ancient history of the Near East. The museum was founded at a time when the Ottoman Empire still existed, so its exposition includes not only artifacts found in the current territory of Turkey, but also from Syria, Egypt, and Mesopotamia. The exposition is well organized, there are many explanatory texts in English and Turkish. There are wonderful paintings on the walls depicting scenes from the life of the respective cities and civilizations. A separate large section is devoted to Troy (before going to the excavations, it is better to see their results here!). A wonderful hall dedicated to the profession of archaeology itself, with a model of excavation, a bunch of educational videos and equipment that is used in the study of found artifacts.

The museum is amazing and rich in exhibits. The quality of the antique sculptures is at the level of the world's leading museums, but the attribution is very questionable, which is only worth the so-called "sarcophagus of Alexander the Great"

It's not bad, but almost everything on the territory is covered in scaffolding. It is not profitable to visit the sights in Turkey at all now. This museum is both informative and the price tag is more or less normal.

It's a good museum. We spent almost the whole day, although we expected a couple of hours. A very interesting installation dedicated to Troy. You could also watch a mini-film about the work of archaeologists - it was very interesting. There is a large collection of coins from different eras. It is quite cheap compared to other attractions in Istanbul.

I liked the museum. Especially my daughter, who graduated from art school and enrolled in architecture. On the ground floor, in one of the halls, there was a crypt created for Alexander the Great. Pinkish marble with battle scenes. Alexander never lay there. But the crypt is very beautiful.

The museum is included in the unified museum map of Istanbul. Marble statues for an amateur. There are many of them in different states. It is interesting to look at sarcophagi and Greek dishes. But in my opinion, one of the most interesting places is a large collection of gold coins. And a lot of gold jewelry from very ancient times.

The museum is interesting. We are fond of history, so we found something to watch. The part about Troy is the most fascinating. I took off the stars because of disgusting ticket office staff and pricing policy! It is indicated that the ticket costs 15 euros, but it is paid in lira. Exactly how much is at the discretion of the cashier. (At the same time, the price in Hagia Sophia is also in euros, but euros are accepted). I think it was done on purpose, because it's not always easy to figure out how much it is in lira. As a result, they call the amount in lira with headphones, even if you don't ask for them. Miraculously, they got their bearings and returned their wonderful headphones back! And that, for a moment, was +700 lire to the tickets (for two), i.e. almost 2 thousand rubles extra. It's outrageous!

Excellent! An excellent exposition, divided into epochs. The history of Troy, which has a separate hall, is especially interesting. The material is perfectly matched! The audio guide worked perfectly and the entire amount of information was mastered. A considerable advantage was the free visit to this museum)

The museum itself is excellent, the exposition is rich. I was in it in 2022, everything was fine. In October 2024, after standing in line, I saw the ticket price of 15 euros, gave euros, to which the cashiers said that the payment was exclusively in lira, I say OK, I give the equivalent in lira of 550 lira, but they tell me - let's give 900, more headphones.but I don't need headphones, they answer that they are not interested in it, you can't do it without headphones. There were 5 of us, they gave us 5 pairs of headphones, we go into the museum, we try to connect to Wi-Fi, but it doesn't work, the employee inside confirms this to us. We go to the checkout and try to hand over the headphones, they answer us, yes indeed, Wi-Fi does not work, but we will not take the headphones, and for an additional fee you can take an audio guide. Guys, I haven't seen such a tin anywhere. The bottom.

For connoisseurs. We didn't really like it! If you compare it with museums in Moscow or St. Petersburg, then it's not even worth wasting time and money. Admission cost 15 euros. An audio guide is just cheap Chinese headphones for some money, and you should open a Google page there and listen to the audio files one at a time. And please note that the Internet is not working inside in some halls.

About nothing. Two Russian couples, the Chinese and us were deceived at the checkout, they said either a ticket with a guide for 800 lire per ticket, or leave, like that's the only way they have an audio guide with headphones now. We bought it, while we were sorting out the headphones and the application that needed to be downloaded, we saw that the Europeans were selling for 300. Then, when the Russian and Chinese approached, they were told that they could only buy with an audio guide, but they could not refuse, and the price was 800 rubles. Okay, I thought at least I'd visit the famous museum and see so much, yeah, now. Huge rooms and there are 3 statues or 3 forks of some kind. This is a maximum of 200 Russian rubles, no more. In general, I do not recommend it, it is a waste of money and nothing interesting is better to go to the museum on red Square.

This is the third time I have visited this museum! I love it, I spend several hours there to examine ancient statues, sarcophagi and household items, a huge collection of coins from different ancient eras. Very interesting. But this time, in November 2024, the halls with the best sarcophagi were closed for restoration, only 5 pieces are available, and the ceramics museum is completely closed. That is, 2/3 of the museum is inaccessible. Keep in mind when visiting. There is no information about this anywhere, the cost is like for a full museum.

The price is average for Istanbul museums. The museum is not large, there are not many exhibits (the pavilion of Islamic culture is closed). The museum did not cause much emotion if you go to see the tomb of Alexander the Great. There is a toilet, but it is small, there are always queues (especially a large one in the women's room)

I took a star for the price of 15 euros per person, they also charge a child, the building is large and beautiful, most of the halls are half-empty, most of the exhibits are ceramics, we liked the tombs most of all, there are few of them, at the end of the statue, the same is a little. The Troy exposition is represented by ceramics, it can be seen that the cunning Germans took out the main finds., it is not interesting.

Magnificent halls, a huge number of exhibits from different historical layers, from the bones of the first people and households.the tools of the Iron Age, to the sarcophagi of the pharaohs, elements of the Sumerian gates, and to the ceramics of the Ottoman Empire.A place that must be visited in Istanbul! You can set aside a whole day-it still won't be enough. The exposition is also on the street, throughout the museum-the magnificent family crypts of ancient knights, great generals and Ottoman warriors. The greatness of the empire is known in the ability to preserve the historical heritage not only of one's own, but also of other civilizations. Thanks to the Great Ottomans for bringing this wealth to our time!

The museum is small and very interesting. Headphones are sold to everyone as an audio guide. At the same time, to listen to something, you need to download the museum's app. The Internet is not working well there and there is no Wi-Fi. There are few places near the exhibits where there is a headphone icon to listen to something. In short, if you go by yourself just like that or with a live tour, then everything is fine. The money was eventually returned, but I had to swear. After being asked to give his name, the employee stopped shouting and returned the money. If it wasn't for the cash register, I would have put 5+. Judging by the reviews, this is a common situation, but it is profitable for the museum to sell headphones.
