This hostel has only 3 advantages:
1) the staff speaks Russian;
2) just an amazing location - in the heart of Istanbul, next to the Four Seasons Hotel (these guys don't choose bad places). The center is just around the corner;
3) cheerful WiFi on all floors of the hostel
First of all, I must say that this is the first time I spent the night in a hostel - I have never stayed in less than 3* before. Therefore, perhaps I have nothing to compare it with. Nevertheless, there are a number of things that I didn't like at all:
1) the guest house does not have a sign, and of all the "neighbors" interviewed, no one knew this hostel by name. the entrance to the hostel is through a cafe - in general, I barely found it. I think that either you need to hang a normal sign, or at least send detailed instructions on how to find a hostel + it would be nice to tell your neighbors down the street what the name of the institution is so that they can at least orient themselves where this Shabby Guest House is;
2) The hostel does not accept cards for payment - only cash. I was forced to wander around Istanbul in the second hour of the night in search of an ATM. The hostel warned me about this by mail, only too late - I saw this message only when I checked in and connected to the WiFi;
3) actually, all communication with the hostel leaves much to be desired: I received a late notification that they only work with cash, I sat at the so-called reception for 25 minutes and waited for the staff to finally check in. After several hours in the car on the Nessebar-Istanbul route at one o'clock in the morning, you want to check in as quickly as possible to take a shower and flop into bed - instead, I waited for an employee for almost half an hour, and then wandered around the night city for about half an hour in search of an ATM;
4) there are very few outlets in the room - I don't know, maybe it's always like this in hostels, but it seems to me that such things should be provided if you have 10 beds in one room;
5) The hostel is located on a rather noisy street, which has a very vibrant nightlife - as a result, it is very noisy. Personally, it didn't bother me, because I was extremely tired from the road and didn't pay attention to extraneous sounds, but I suspect it might be a strain for someone;
6) there are tables on the ground floor next to the "improvised" reception - you can have a snack. But no one cleans there - it's terribly dirty and untidy
