The hotel is simply amazing. Clean, cozy. The rooms overlook a small garden and ocean views. There is a small restaurant in the garden. The restaurant's menu includes traditional and European dishes. The breakfasts are good, if there are a lot of people, then the buffet, if there are few guests, then the breakfast is simpler, but hearty and homemade. There is a small swimming pool at the top of the hotel overlooking the ocean, it is incredibly beautiful at sunset. In general, the hotel leaves only positive impressions: the staff is polite and very friendly, everyone speaks English except the security guard and the one who looks after the beach. The guard is vigilant, walks along the territory at night with a flashlight, escorts guests at late check-in / check-out. The person who looks after the beach always comes to the rescue, prepares sun beds, monitors the cleanliness of the beach. Funny chipmunks are found on the territory (they shout loudly and ridiculously at crows and dogs, dogs watch and chase strangers from the territory, but they are polite and affectionate with guests. The hotel has its own beach, but there is a public city beach nearby. City buses come there and arrange parties, which, however, end no later than at 21:00 - with this strictly. We are very happy with the hotel, we rested in August (out of season), but the ocean is warm, the waves are not so strong and there was no rain. I hope to get here in the season in the future.
We are currently resting in it. Overall, the hotel is very good, very polite and attentive staff, cleaned every two days, excellent rooftop pool. The chef cooks delicious, but sometimes it is quite spicy. The breakfasts are the same every day, but in 10 days they didn't get too tired. The ocean is 15 m from the hotel, comfortable sun beds, towels. And now there are a few disadvantages. It is better not to take a room facing the road, from 6 a.m. you cannot sleep, they start honking in the morning, the traffic is very active. The audibility in the rooms is 10 points-you can hear what the neighbors are doing in the shower). Once at breakfast they served bread with mold, but we immediately told them about it. If you like good coffee in the morning, it's better to take ground coffee with you and just brew it here, there is hot milk in the restaurant.
Despite some shortcomings, there is definitely a desire to return to this hotel, thanks to the staff!
A very cozy and comfortable hotel for rest!
Yes, old rooms. But everything works, it's clean and it's quite possible to live)
Compensates for some shortcomings — the garden outside the window and the ocean 15 meters from the room.
Excellent friendly and helpful staff. At any hour of the day or night, they will come to help if necessary.
The restaurant at the hotel is quite good. At first, we seemed to be looking for something else, but realized that in Joyce, in fact, everything is the same as everywhere else and prices for a number of positions are even lower. They will cook anything on request without any problems, replace the dish if it is suddenly too spicy or simply not included in the bill. In other restaurants they don't do this at all, solid chili everywhere and if you refuse to eat, your problems are — pay anyway.
Good location. The center is nearby, the sights are nearby.
We all really liked this hotel. We visited my grandmother's cottage. We were escorted off with tears in our eyes, as if we were relatives, everyone was hugged and kissed from cleaners and security guards to cooks and waiters.
It's a miracle, not a hotel)
The hotel is small. The room was also small, the furniture was "tired", a small closet. The bed is not a double bed, just two next to each other. The TV in the room was not working, I had to ask an additional employee. Although the TV itself is good, modern. There is a shower cabin in the bathroom without any curtain or door, everything pours onto the floor (((only the faucets and faucets were pleased, they are new! Breakfast is sooo meager. There is not even any cheese and sweets. And we came an hour before the end and there were no tomatoes, no cucumbers, no "ala sausage" and sausages.... If breakfast is served without a buffet, then there is no choice but fried eggs.
The hotel has its own small territory, which I personally liked, good sun beds under palm trees with umbrellas and tables. The beach in front of the hotel and the beach area are being cleaned. The hotel also has its own menu if you want to eat something for lunch or dinner. The menu is not large, the prices are normal. But it takes a very long time to cook everything. We came once for dinner and there were eight tables, the waiter told us that we would have to wait more than an hour for our order (( One of the advantages of the hotel is that you can buy your own fruits and they will be cut and served for free. In general, the hotel is purely 3*, you need to understand this. Modestly, but they try. You can live) And the hotel itself is located a little far from the main street with cafes and shops. You have to walk to it along a busy road or along a small path through back streets in complete darkness.
The second of 4 hotels in Sri
Lanka.
The first one was Tangale 3 stars, and the second one is Unawatuna 3 stars, then it will be 5 and 4.
And that everything was OK everywhere, it wasn't anywhere.
Unawatuna Beach.
The beach is about 1 km long, 98 percent of tourists are from Russia. Anapa in one word. Everyone speaks Russian, but they don't accept payments in rubles everywhere. Swimming is perfect, there are no waves, the approach is smooth but quite sharp.
I specifically started writing reviews after visiting only all the hotels in different locations, as I immediately realized, even with my extensive viewing, how much difficulty I faced in planning and choosing hotels and locations on this trip.
And so, the hotel: well, it's 2 stars in my understanding, the rooms are just perfect, we booked one photo, in fact the other. This is the weakest point of the hotel, just dead, with poor sound insulation, an uncomfortable bed, a terrible bathroom, small, with creative cleaning, without everything, and yes, in the photo I did not take pictures of crooked and shabby doors, slanting cabinets and a dangling faucet, believe me, everything is bad((
But at the same time, the territory is pretty nice, the first line, 14 seconds to the sea from the room, the sun beds are normal.
We had breakfast and dinner, everything was portioned, with almost no choice, but everything was delicious enough, by local standards, of course, the portions were meager, just for 60 kg of people, no more.
The prices on the menu are more or less normal, but we didn't order anything, we brought fish from the market, they cooked it for 500 rubles per kg, they cooked it well and served it beautifully.
The staff is generally friendly, but it is already clear that the sincerity has almost disappeared.
The price of this hotel was about 13,000 rubles for two people for breakfast and dinner. The problem with this beach is that judging by the reviews and visual assessment in other places it is even worse, and the only decent hotel costs about 25,000 rubles per night for breakfast, which is over the price, and the reviews are not very sad.
Conclusion: if you just reduce the room requirements to the maximum, and you have a sea view, as we did, then it's a stretch, and yes, there's also a rooftop pool in the hotel, I didn't write about it, there's no point.
And yet, this applies to all beaches and hotels, I was glad that I did not spend a total of 14 days in one place.
A cozy family hotel 20 meters from the ocean! All amenities, rooftop pool, sun loungers, cozy area, clean, friendly staff, good cuisine. Near 2 km of sandy beach without hedgehogs, jellyfish and corals near the shore. A sea of cafes and restaurants, opposite the local grocery store, an alcohol market and a fruit shop, the best prices in Una Watuna.
We rested in this hotel from July 22-29, 2024
The hotel is just a bomb, the location is great...
there are enough sun loungers for everyone.
The breakfasts are delicious, the ocean is 30 meters away.
The staff is very polite and honest (they checked and left a small amount on the table)., everything remained in place ...
Cleaning on demand.
A gorgeous pool on the 3rd floor.
I will definitely come back again👍
Great hotel. The service is great, everything is clean and tidy. Wonderful people work there. We were with a one-year-old child, so they cooked for him separately and brought him to the bungalow. Live music twice a week in the evenings. IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL!!! I'm completely in the bargain!
Great hotel! Good location, clean beach next to the hotel, beautiful pool covered! The rooms are clean, European-style, which is rare for Sri Lanka. The room has a small refrigerator, kettle, tea, coffee, sugar, wardrobe, TV. The balcony offers a very beautiful view of the small garden by the hotel and the ocean. The staff is very helpful, always wondering if everything is okay. To clean the room, you need to tell the hotel manager. The hotel has a small restaurant, the food is delicious. There is also breakfast) the breakfasts are good, delicious! A large plate of fruit, juice, tea or coffee, pancakes with jam or omelette with sausages and bacon, toast with butter. I recommend the hotel!!!!!!
We were at the hotel from April 30 to May 7, 2024. Immediately looking ahead, I will say that we did not meet anything to overshadow our stay at this hotel.
The hotel is located slightly away from the main tour- walking, restaurant streets of Unawatuna. Moreover, when we went there, it seemed that it was very far away, but going on foot in the evening to the street Welle Devala Road (cafes, restaurants, shops), it turned out that on foot 5-6 minutes. Moreover, this street can be accessed both from the beach (which is closer) and bypassing on the road. The advantages of the hotel location are almost opposite the exchanger, next to a couple of shops with water chips, and 50 meters to the alcohol store, which is important, since in Sri Lanka alcohol is sold only in specialty stores. Getting somewhere further is also no problem, tuk-tuks are always nearby, as well as bus stops nearby.
The hotel itself is small, with 12 rooms. Check-in from 13, check-out at 12. We had a late check-out, you can pay extra, which we did. For 4 hours, they took $ 40 (in rupees).
Check-in is fast, the reception already has all your details, the room is ready, everything happened in 5 minutes - they took your passports, checked them, grabbed your suitcases and took you to the room.
By the numbers- if you expect to see the luxury of the Sheraton palace 5*, then you are not here :)). But the room is cool! Very clean, all the furniture is sturdy, serviceable, functional. Air conditioning, refrigerator, TV, lamps - everything works flawlessly! We didn't have a safe in our room, but somehow we didn't ask for it - we treated it like this. Then, in a conversation with other guests, they found out that it was somewhere (antediluvian on a key, similar to a postal one). Therefore, if the safe is essential, you must ask for it when checking in.
There are no problems with plumbing either. The only thing is that since the temperature outside below +28 did not drop even at night, you can not wait for cold tap water, it is always warm. Drinking water (1.5l bottle) is brought daily. If there is no one in the room, they put it in front of the door.
The rooms are cleaned according to the principle: I hung a sign "please, clean the room" - they will be cleaned, if there is no sign, they will not enter. But, since the hotel is small, the staff remembers all the vacationers perfectly and the aunt who is in charge of cleaning herself came up once every 2 days and clarified: "maybe it's time to clean up today?". They clean up so well, and when they left 500 rupees of tips on the bed, they licked it all cool!
The territory of the hotel is small, includes open (under a canopy) restaurant tables and its own beach with sun beds. Moreover, its beach is raised like a pier above the main one. At the very beginning, we did not understand this convenience. On the contrary, it seemed inconvenient to go down to the ocean. When the waves started, they realized the joke- the ocean does not flood, does not reach the sun beds, as on an ordinary shallow beach. And one more trick: since the beaches in Sri Lanka are municipal, and this one is raised, it turns out not to be shared, but the territory of the hotel! That is, there are no outsiders, there are always sun beds. The area is very green - there are many spreading trees. They create additional comfort in the heat. But there are also open places for those who like to get fried. On the third floor, actually on the roof, there is a swimming pool. It's interesting, unusual, but it heats up a lot during the day - you lie in a very warm bathroom! And, like everything in this hotel, the territory is always very clean, garbage is constantly cleaned! And yet: chipmunks and lizards always run around the territory, once they saw a one-and-a-half-meter monitor lizard, but it was scared by local dogs, the poor guy ran away to someone in a neighboring house.
The hotel staff is a separate topic. They remember the guests from the first day (including the local dog, which drives away strangers, but only wags its tail at its own)! Moreover, the staff does not particularly loom on the territory, but if you need something, you can contact anyone - your problem will be solved immediately or someone will be brought who will solve it. They communicate in their own English, but there are no difficulties in translation, if anything, they will immediately get a phone and a Google translator to help. There were no difficulties with this at all. In general, they are very friendly and always ready to help!
Food
We only took breakfast. Breakfast is a buffet, except for one day when there are only 3 occupied rooms left in the hotel. On this day, the tables were served, but so much was set that it was difficult to eat with all the desire. In general, all portions in the restaurant (dinners or if ordered separately from the menu) are large. And so for breakfast: tea, coffee, yogurt, ham sausages, bacon, a couple more rice dishes and an omelet (scrambled eggs) fried as much as you want and with what you want. There are always fruits: papaya, mango, pineapple, watermelon, passion fruit, bananas, etc.
Some guests had a rest according to the breakfast-dinner program. So dinner includes salad, soup, hot dishes and dessert (not a buffet). Everything is very tasty and of high quality, but the portions are huge and it is unrealistic to eat all this.
The restaurant is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The menu is quite diverse, but not oversaturated. Salads, soups, desserts - all 5-6 items, hot - about 15. There are also seafood dishes, pastas, and a variety of rice. Prices, as we found out, are even a little cheaper than in restaurants in the area. In general, if you want to have a snack, but you are too lazy to go somewhere, you can do it here, tasty and high-quality.
You can also order anything from the menu without getting up from the sunbed or in the room. They will bring it and put it away. If you buy fruit (there are several shops in the area), they will wash and cut it for free. You can also buy seafood, cook it, but for a little money. I don't know how much, because no one did that;))).
What's next:
There is a strip of restaurants on the beach all along the coast - this is for the evening. The prices are about the same everywhere (I repeat - that's why the hotel is 10-15 percent lower). Dinner for two (2 seafood dishes and drinks) cost about 7000 rupees, and 2000 of them are 2 beers.
Now about day hikes: literally 1.5 km away. there is a beach with large turtles (about 1m in diameter). You can swim with them, feed them. The food is sold right there. Turtles actually swim from 3 to 6 individuals and swim near the shore, begging for food. The main thing is that there are no big waves when there is excitement - there are no turtles. You can get to the beach by tuk-tuk (300-400 rupees), you can walk along the beach (walking a little along the road).
In the other direction, you can walk to Jungle beach (there are 2 of them, large and small, their maps and paths to them are visible). Of course, you can take a tuk-tuk, but I would recommend walking, since on the way you can go to the pagoda on the mountain (you can see it from the hotel, and then a little walk through the local village, along the paths through the jungle to get to a small beach. Don't forget to look up - there are monkeys watching you! They're harmless. Then from the small beach along the rocks along the shore you reach (about 300m) to the big Jungle beach. The stones look scary from the outside, but it's not difficult to walk on them. There are already cafes and sun beds there. But from there it is better to get to the hotel by tuk-tuk (it costs about 1000 rupees).
You can also drive yourself to the old fortress town of Gale. A Portuguese fortress where you can take a walk and take beautiful photos. It costs about 1,500 rupees one way.
On long-distance excursions, the hotel always has a local guide like Chandana. He speaks Russian tolerably well, there were no problems with understanding. It offers various individual excursions, at a price about 20% cheaper than bus tours. We went to the observation room with him - we did not regret it, he tells, shows, does not bother. He also took us to a local, very beautiful old Buddhist temple in a rock for some pennies - very interesting. But in principle, there are many travel agencies with individual excursions in Russian and on the streets.
Bottom line: as I wrote at the very beginning, we did not experience any negative emotions associated with staying at the hotel - only a lot of positive ones!!! We definitely recommend it!!!

A luxury hotel for your money!
We stayed at this hotel from June 28 for 10 nights
Positive:
-Location right on the beach, really 20 meters from the room
-all rooms (there are only 12 of them) with ocean views, but from the second floor it is certainly better)
-excellent service, always ready to help and come to the rescue
- breakfast, if the buffet (according to the occupancy of the hotel), then it is not very large, but there is enough, omelets are cooked, fruits are always replenished, there is a choice. If there is a continental breakfast, then they bring a plate of fruit, an omelet/scrambled eggs and salad, vegetables, sausages, plus toast with jam and butter
-the rooms are cleaned quite well relative to Asia (probably the best cleaning of all that we have met), but you should warn about cleaning yourself - post a sign in the morning. Water is brought 2*0.5 every day
-there are sun beds on the territory only for guests, so there are always places
- lunches and dinners (we didn't include them) are not bad, but the price tag is higher than in a regular cafe. But if you don't want to go anywhere, it's a great option. You can order lunch on the beach and stay on the sun beds, class
- the rooftop pool is super! The view is simply gorgeous! We went there to meet the sunsets
-to the main street 10min walk along the beach. We do not recommend walking along the road. And longer and there is no special lighting
Of the disadvantages (and not for everyone):
-Wifi catches exclusively in the lobby, in the rooms, even the closest ones -no. Therefore, a SIM card is mandatory for those who need to be in touch
-the hotel is located on the outskirts of this beach and immediately after it there is a public beach, where local tourists come by bus and in the evening they like to arrange noisy parties on buses, but they finish them at 11-12 o'clock, it didn't bother us
- the waves. Yes, they are, but we always swam, it was comfortable for us to go in, you can't swim, but if you want - 15-20 minutes to the opposite beach, where the temple is. It's calm there
We definitely recommend this hotel!
The staff is attentive from the administrator to the security guard, the ocean is magical, the beach is always clean

A great hotel, quiet and calm, few rooms and a chamber atmosphere, everyone knows each other as if at home. The beach was pleased with the fact that there is no strong current and you can swim in peace. The pool and roof are beyond praise. The food is quite decent, there is a choice and it has always been satisfying and delicious. Fruits from the market are washed and served free of charge. The staff is very friendly, the guys are well done, diligent. Thanks for a great vacation.
I liked everything. We were in early April, got to their New Year's celebration, the hotel staff held contests, a concert was held next to the hotel in the evening, it was interesting. I recommend it!
A cozy small hotel on the ocean for a relaxing stay. Friendly, helpful staff, good cuisine. All rooms have a view of the ocean, which is 50-70 meters away. We took breakfast and dinner. Food: fruits, seafood, chicken, ice cream, vegetarian dishes. There is a small swimming pool on the roof of the hotel. Unavantuna beach is perhaps the only one suitable for relaxing swimming and children. There are big waves in other places. In general, by the standards of Asia, an excellent hotel. The room has a ceiling fan, air conditioning, TV, refrigerator, kettle, refillable supply of tea, coffee, water. WiFi is available throughout the hotel, the speed is good.
The hotel is a 20-minute walk from the main tourist street, but 5 minutes from the liquor store. The building is located close
to the road. Noise from passing vehicles around the clock. The territory is small, so the distance from the room to the beach is 50 meters. Free sun beds for guests. The rooms are tired, the bed linen is washed to holes. Breakfasts are meager: scrambled eggs every day.
A confident Asian threesome on the first line.
A heavenly place, the hotel is very conveniently located. The rooms are ordinary, Cleaning on demand. The breakfasts are very tasty, always fruits, coffee and freshly squeezed juice. We stayed at the hotel for 2 weeks, we will definitely come back!!!
It took a long time to choose a hotel in Sri Lanka. But you probably know what a hassle it is. But this hotel somehow immediately fell on my soul. A few did not go wrong. Wow!Of course, there are disadvantages, that you don't buy much in the ocean, there is a strong current ten meters away, but there is also a joke, you lie on your back and you are carried to a nearby hotel. The main thing is to find a positive in everything. There may also be one minus, these are breakfasts, the same thing for 10 days, but what DINNERS! Seafood for every taste and always fresh!I just lost it.If you want to swim without waves and currents, there is a small pool on the roof with a wonderful view of the ocean. For cleaning, ask. As it is, they are all very friendly and smiling. Take cigarettes as gifts to them. There is a liquor store nearby. Take the Red Rum. Gorgeous!
At the booking office at the 4* hotel. This is clearly overkill. The staff tries hard, but the rooms need repairs, the breakfasts could be more varied (in fact, either an egg dish: scrambled eggs / omelette / boiled eggs or pancakes, and a plate of fruit, freshly squeezed juice). They don't know how to make coffee, like everywhere else in Sri Lanka. It is worth cleaning the beach regularly and carefully: lying around plastic bottles are not the norm. The staff at the hotel are friendly, pleasant people who try to solve the problems of tourists and satisfy all requests. The ocean view from the rooms is super!
Great hotel! We bought the tour, and if we compare it with the cost of tickets, we got it almost for nothing, but nevertheless it is worth the money for booking! The staff is very friendly and friendly, even the owner himself or the chief administrator, we did not understand, just a darling, always tried to help and took care of us, helped us with currency exchange, always at a good rate and sold us a SIM card even cheaper than at the airport, room cleaning at least every day if necessary We were always interested in cleaning up or not, several times a day, for those who are on the island for the first time, the service may seem slow, but the island is the island to relax, slow down and enjoy the moment!!! After all, the hotel is on the first coast and while you are waiting for your dishes, you can swim or just enjoy the gorgeous ocean! Therefore, friends, do not be angry at the slow service, there is such a mentality here and you just need to accept it, well, or go to Europe)))
By the way, if you walk 15 minutes along the road towards Velligamma, you can get to a wild beach, then 15 minutes along the beach and you will get to a bay without waves, where turtles and a lot of fish swim, you can swim with a mask, and by the way, the liquor store is also nearby 3 minutes from the hotel towards the south, if anyone The fact is important!
Not a bad hotel for its 3*. We had a rest in February 2022. The location is great. 1st line, sandy beach, its own free sun beds with umbrellas. The food is excellent. They took FB and did not regret it. The room had a sea view. There is a swimming pool on the 3rd floor overlooking the beach and the sea. Nearby 2min. a liquor store and 2 stalls of fruits and vegetables. There is a small supermarket across the street.
A great hotel, despite its two-storey building, it has an elevator! There is a swimming pool on the roof. The ocean is 30 steps away. The rooms are cozy, the beach is private! With palm trees and umbrellas.
We are resting in this hotel at the moment. The location is good. But the service is suffering. Upon arrival, no one greets, they knocked on the closed doors of the hotel at night. Anex Tour does not care about its tourists.
There is no cleaning service at the hotel. Not at all. Until you ask to change the towels yourself.
The hotel ordered a dish for lunch, said the wait was 1 hour. As a result, 1h.40 min.there was an expectation. If they refuse to pay, they are forced to pay. And they don't even want to listen to anything. Nerves are more expensive. They are not used to swearing on vacation.
Breakfast and dinner are included. They're really not bad.
The beach is great. But this is the location of the hotel.
The whole service is of course completely unworthy.
I do not recommend this hotel.
The best place. I really liked everything and the service and the room and the food. I saw a big monkey at breakfast. We will definitely come back again.
They are not settling in the rooms that are booked and paid for, but in others! If you forgot something (at the reception, on the beach) you will not find anything! The breakfasts are the same! And in general, it's good if you eat with a positive attitude!
Not bad. But it's a little expensive for such a room. The person at the reception rolls up despite the fact that I was with my husband 🤪
I had to bypass the reception. The food is delicious. But I would like more varied breakfasts)))
Cleaned perfectly.

The first line. The pool is on the roof. The restaurant is nonsense. Small portions and not tasty. Long service, expensive. Beach boy is very friendly. Beware of scammers-they come up on the beach!
We are resting now on 02/14/2020 at this hotel.A cozy hotel, right on the ocean.Friendly and helpful staff.Good food right at the hotel. And most importantly, gorgeous nature and the ocean.
