The monumental 5-star JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel was opened more than 20 years ago, in November 2000. At the same time, the hotel is in excellent condition both in terms of external gloss and internal processes.
Due to the fact that this is a city business hotel, the cost of accommodation on weekdays is usually higher than on weekends.
The hotel is located away from the old town and the main attractions, in close proximity to the Romanian Parliament building. Also across the street, the world's tallest Orthodox church, the Cathedral of the Salvation of the Nation, is being completed. Henri Coanda International Airport is 18 km from the hotel and a taxi ride will take about 25 minutes.
The hotel lobby is a public space filled with luxury boutiques, bars, restaurants and even casinos. The interiors in light marble and gilding look chic and modern.
The passports of all residents were required at the check-in. Payment for accommodation, as in most hotels recently, was made upon check-in. It was also proposed to freeze the deposit from the card, which we refused.
We were provided, in fact, with the best room available for upgrade — the Business Suite. There are only 2 such rooms in the hotel and we were lucky that one of them was available.
The area of the huge room, located on the 3rd floor, is 115 sq. m. It is a giant suite with a separate meeting room and a fully equipped kitchen.
The room also had a living room, a bedroom and two bathrooms.
In honor of the anniversary, we were congratulated with a delicious cake and a welcome bottle of good Australian sparkling Jacob's Creek.
Breakfast is served at the JW Steakhouse Restaurant from 6:30 to 11:00. The breakfast offers a wide range of hot dishes and cold snacks. In the center of the hall there was a beautifully decorated counter with various juices, homemade lemonades and smoothies. A variety of egg dishes were prepared at the Live Station. Pancakes and Belgian waffles were also offered. At Hot Stations, you can find pre-cooked eggs benedict.
Several types of milk were offered, and there was also a gluten-free food corner.
Meat and fish cuts, pickles and cheeses, a salad bar, breakfast cereals and much more were presented on the big island in the center of the hall. There was also an area along the wall with a wide range of bread products and pastries.
It is worth noting that during breakfast, an employee of the restaurant with a special cart serves everyone a local dessert — a Papanashi donut.
The executive lounge at the JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel is located on the 8th floor in the central part of the hotel and is open from 6:00 to 00:00. The staff is present in the lounge from 6:30 to 22:30. The lounge offers hot and cold soft drinks, fruits and snacks throughout the day. In addition, breakfast is served, there is an Afternoon Tea period and evening Hors D'oeuvre and an Open Bar.
The living room is quite spacious, with plenty of seating and separate areas. To the left of the reception there is a buffet area with several small tables.
Breakfast in the lounge is served from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and includes all the necessary components of a standard breakfast, but with a smaller assortment. The key difference from breakfast in a shared restaurant is the absence of Papanashi donuts and the presence of white and pink sparkling wine.
The evening Hors D'oeuvre runs from 17:30 to 19:30 and includes a good range of high-quality hot and cold snacks. The Open Bar continues to work for two more hours after the evening dinner. There were usually two types of hot snacks. For example, kebab and chicken one day. Alcohol was represented by three types of beer and a large assortment of wines. As well as Bendis Nadir Prosecco and Jacob's Creek Rose, which were the most popular. Strong alcohol was not offered in the lounge.
Fitness and SPA treatments at the JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel are provided by the international provider World Class. The sports center, including the World Class Health Academy, is open from 6:00 to 23:00 on weekdays and from 8:00 to 21:00 on weekends. A variety of SPA treatments require an appointment.
The JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel is an excellent example of how to maintain service quality standards at the highest level for a long time. Despite the fact that the hotel is more than 20 years old, investments in the maintenance and maintenance of the existing infrastructure are at the proper level. It was impossible to find fault with anything.
