Initially, we booked a Hyundai H1 2015, but upon arrival there were minor problems with it and we were given a Mercedes Benz V class instead, for which I was very glad. We rented a solaris for 2 days. The car is clean, even water and napkins have been provided - it's nice!
There are no problems with payment - at least a transfer to a card from our Mir.
The deposit was returned in manats, but we spent it DF.
They told us in detail the rules on the road and when the traffic police stop (it's funny, by the way, they say: if they stop, you show the papers (they gave you a filled one) and that's it.. Yours is mine not to understand.. Mikhail Svetlov.. tsigel tsigel).
They didn't stop us, thank God.
Although we reached Sheki and the mountains.

I will share my experience of renting a car in Azerbaijan in our difficult time of sanctions and the difficulty with payments.
I travel quite often and try to explore the country by rental car. in order not to be dependent on the group and the limited time to visit the sights.
Many in the chat rooms warned against renting a car in Baku, because there are driving peculiarities and various divorces, both at rental offices and on the roads.
But nothing scares me, and after searching the Internet I found the company Karavan Rent A Car in Baku
I had a preliminary chat with the company via WhatsApp, continued my search, because initially I thought it was too expensive to rent.
Closer to the trip, I did not find any alternative, I returned again to Karavan Rent A Car in Baku
I must say right away that car rental is not cheap, car rental in Cuba only outbid the cost, but if we consider the segment above the economy, then the prices are not that big, so it was decided to take a Kia Rio X-Line car (price for 4 days + pick-up / delivery at the airport 420 manat / $250).
They take 30% prepayment in advance (which is a little annoying, but we have to suffer because of some of our lousy compatriots and not only ours, who book at several offices and do not bother to make a timely cancellation).
I immediately transferred the money by card number (MTS bank provides such a service) and calmly began to wait for the trip.
Andrey met me at the airport (he also took the car).
I gave the deposit and the balance for the rent $ (the rate is like a bank, and the change was returned $ upon completion of the lease).
A video was recorded in a circle, on which damage was noted (scratches and chips), I was surprised that they marked scratches even on plastic caps, they thought that the acceptance would be fierce.
Andrey told about the nuances (do not drive off-road, do not exceed 130 km / h), and most importantly, if you have problems communicating with the police, call them so as not to get a divorce.
As a result, we drove about 800 km by car, looked at places where tourists are not taken and enjoyed our vacation in Azerbaijan.
Before departure, they handed over the car, gave 10 manats for washing (which they were warned about at the beginning). Andrey inspected the car, gave the deposit and change, shook hands and wished a good flight.
The company is excellent, it approaches customers with a soul, and not just for the sake of money.
I was glad that there were several bottles of water, chewing gum and napkins in the car.
And the most important thing is that they gave 1 manat to pay for parking when leaving the airport (so you can not change the money, but do it quietly in the city).

Great guys. I booked in advance - I was sent instructions on how to transfer an advance payment from a Russian "under" card. I booked one car (based on my height of 200), offered another, better, for the same price (Solaris). I entered my wife just in case for free. We arrived at the office for the opening (9:00), received a full briefing, put the Waze navigator on the phone, the uncle from the office installed / configured everything. The office is gorgeous, I took a picture with a cool camel. the defects of the car were reflected in the map. The car did not cause any problems, from the hearing at all. The mileage was 156,000, but the condition is excellent. We planned to rent it at the airport, then the plans changed and for a small surcharge, the guys took the car from the hotel.
Yes, they did not wash it, they paid 10 manats.
For gasoline - 92, 10L -1 manat.

We rented a car for the New Year holidays to see the country (there are many interesting locations, and all are not very far from Baku). The cars are in good technical condition, there are no complaints. The staff speaks Russian fluently. During the trip, we got into an accident (not our fault). An employee was immediately allocated, who helped communicate with the locals and with the traffic police via whatsapp. Literally in half an hour(!) after the accident, we were sent a replacement car from Baku (and we were 4.5 hours away from it), so we were able to continue our trip. Among the features: If you exceed the speed limit, they will call you and culturally remind you about it. You can't drive off on dirt roads (at least it was like that in our car). We took the Prado for 3 days, everything went fine.
Starting from chatting on Whatsapp and booking a car, ending with support during the booking period.
I was stopped by the police once, they tried to cheat me for money. The guys from the rental were in touch, they talked on the phone with the policeman themselves, and told us what to do. As a result, for the 1700km run there was not a single fine, no accidents, everything is super.
The price is probably higher than in lesser-known services, but when you go on vacation, it's better to overpay a little and not worry about anything.

I want to leave a REAL review about Karavan. We are from Belarus, Gomel. I came to Azerbaijan to see the country and travel all over it. We agreed on the car and the rental time via WhatsApp. We made an advance payment using an AlfaBank card without any problems. The Caravan operator explained everything to us in detail in Russian, told us. Upon arrival, we were met by an employee at the airport with my name on the sign, helped to find a place where to exchange currency, buy a SIM card. Then he showed us the car, told us about all the nuances and damages that were recorded in the inspection report. We signed the contract and set off on our way. All the documents for the car, how to behave on the road, how to deal with the police - they told everything. We were also paid for parking at the airport. We went on a 4-day trip to cities such as Gabala, Shaki, Ganja, Goygol and related places. The car was a Kia Rio 2021 1.6 petrol on automatic. The car is very nice, new, clean, fast and passable. He easily overcame the mountain serpentine and behaved confidently on the track. On technical issues, everything was also fine. You can fill 92 with gasoline, which is very profitable. We delivered the car in Baku at the central office of the company. The guys looked at everything and even forgave a few small fines for speed, which is very nice, since there is no way without fines in Azerbaijan - cameras are everywhere and if you are not a local, then you will definitely get caught somewhere. The deposit was returned without any problems in the same form as we paid - in cash (it was possible by card). The rental prices from the company are good, not expensive compared to others. This is one of the best rental offices that we have used! We rent a car on each trip (Turkey, Egypt, almost all of Europe, CIS countries, Russia). We have never experienced such comfort during registration and delivery! The office is spacious and beautiful, not far from the center of Baku.
