It's amazing. A clean swimming pool. A wonderful beach. Well-maintained territory. Polite staff. The possibility of visiting the islands (excursions): Turtle and Disappearing Islands. In a word: a fairy tale.

The hotel is nice, clean, everything is there. English breakfast style breakfasts. Friendly staff
The main thing is not to buy excursions from guys on the beach. Prices are 2 - 2.5 times too high! If you managed to bargain, give money only for calculation, you will never knock out your change, no matter what you were promised!!! It's better to ask about excursions at the hotel at the reception.

A great hotel, there are only a couple of good hotels in Kendwa. The rest are average, threes in general, according to our concepts, there should be no stars. But! Africa is so interesting, what the hell with them, with these hotels. Who likes luxury in Zanzibar has nothing to do. Around the impoverished life of Africans, with stunning ocean, wildlife and nature. They don't go to Africa for the stars.
Ngorongoro National Park on the mainland in Tanzania is a must-visit, expensive, but worth it. Taringiri is interesting, the Serengeti is only when there is animal migration. And Ngorongoro is a delight! All interesting trips))) Hakuna matata!

A very good hotel. We lived in nearby Sunset. They came to the restaurant in Rocks. They feed well and serve quickly. Not like in most restaurants. And here is the best beach in Kendwa. On the downside, festivals are often held nearby on an empty stretch of beach and it is very loud and there are too many boats on the beach in front of the Rocks. You can see everything from the drone in the photo. But the sunsets are definitely the best here)

Hotel reviews vary from the best to the worst. I can understand both sides - it's important to clarify what the Kendwa ROCKS hotel is compared to. I suspect that after Tunisia and Egypt, it may really seem like heaven, but if you compare it with other countries (Cuba, Mexico) .. Well, not hell, of course, but there are many questions:
Having paid in advance for breakfast and dinner at this hotel we received no interest from the service staff in us as guests.
At the reception, no one explained in advance about vouchers (coupons ) For the meal , I had to find out everything on the spot with the waiter . It's like he's seeing them for the first time, the choice of dishes from the plastic menu, but most of the items are stacked! Why did I pay for these dinners in advance, I could have spent this money on dinner at any restaurant in Zanzibar.
It is difficult to feed yourself and the children during the week in this hotel ( burgers and pizza are only left for guests with vouchers) and this is for 40 bucks per person with a drink of water and juice - a small plastic cup .
A festive dinner was held at the House , a crowd of people with a voucher for food in line for a coupon - for a piece of chicken , kutaba or octopus . Alas, the founders of the hotel are in the 21st century, and I'm running around with a plate and a meal ticket. Are you out of your mind!???? Why would I need it for my own money in a restaurant?
The waiters are slow , tired and angry . Everyone doesn't understand English at once, they forgot their glasses, and they can't give me the time. The tables are dirty , there are no tablecloths , and there are no paper napkins . Breakfasts with flies over food and unpeeled mango from the skin. Alas . Hotel staff, you claim to be 4 stars, what are you like piglets - Fruits and cucumbers with skins.
The room stock is tired , the second jamb of a 4-star hotel , they did not provide two separate beds for adult children of different sexes. Upon presentation of the claim, they offered an economy option (below the paid one) in the slums of the hotel, with a unit from the air conditioner that buzzes like an airplane, a towel with mustiness, soap can not be begged into the room, two bottles of water per day for 0.33, a crowd of people on the beaches, annoying sellers and masses climb right in the face for a shizlong. The hotel security guards don't catch mice, they doze in the shade.
The ocean is beautiful, the beach of Zanzibar, despite its picturesqueness, is one of the worst I've ever been to, and the most annoying thing is that the whole New Year's holiday is ruined by the human factor of the hotel!!!
I do not recommend visiting a restaurant or a hotel with accommodation with children!

A cool hotel, just a bomb for 3*! The best beach, even at high tides, is swimable. We had breakfast, normal. Well, I don't understand what people need for breakfast. It was always hot, cereal, eggs, toast, pancakes, salad, fruit, fried eggs with whatever you want. Tea, coffee, cocoa, well, what else do you need???? Great rooms. We first lived in standard Africa, then in Economy Forest. Even the economy room is great, yes small, but it will do for two, modern air conditioning, TV, safe, refrigerator, kettle, veranda. There are plenty of sun loungers, no need to borrow at 6 a.m., people from neighboring hotels came to us and bought sun loungers. I do not even know what to find fault with. I'm giving 5 to a hotel with a clean soul.

An African journey.
Jumbo... Hakuna Matata…It was heard every day, from morning to evening. The local population will always meet you with a smile and a kind look. It seems like they really don't have any problems.
Finally, I got to the southern hemisphere, to the island of Zanzibar, the name of which is heard from a children's fairy tale. 10 hours of summer from Moscow via Dubai and I am here, on Kendwa Beach, at the Tropicana Kendwa Beach Hotel.
The month of May is not the season for holidays on the island, it rains. But we were lucky, it rained all day and night for only 1 day. And the rest of the time there is bright Sun, white sand and, of course, a beautiful ocean: clean, warm, beautiful, whose water shimmers with turquoise colors.
When we arrived at the hotel, a Russian woman had already been living there for several months and we. The restaurant offers personalized service. We ate at the Shashlik Mashlyk restaurant. Mainly seafood: shrimp, squid, lobster, fish, 3 times a day freshly squeezed juices (pineapple, watermelon)
The hotel sun beds on the beach are located closest to the ocean. A hotel employee brings a mattress, very soft, comfortable and stays nearby, nearby. You don't have to worry about your belongings.
The ebb is insignificant, imperceptible. The hedgehog was seen on the shore 1 time. The entrance to the ocean is convenient, there is sand all around. In the morning, the two of us are in the Ocean, on the beach, and in the evening the beach comes to life: the local population comes.
We lived in the superior room, on the 2nd floor, with a huge veranda, where there are also sun beds and a table.
The acquaintance with the island began with a 3-in-1 excursion, where we met with huge turtles on Prizon Island, visited Nakupenda Island, an island that disappears at high tide. I have never seen such crystal water anywhere before. Of course, it's better to go to Staun Town separately to get to know him better. Otherwise, we walked only through its narrow streets. I have seen baobabs before, but I have never seen such a huge one as on the way to the Kuza cave. This is another trip, from morning to evening. You can swim in the cave and it is very beautiful. But this tour began with a visit to Mtemba beach. The coral cliffs are impressive, as is the low tide on the ocean that we saw.
Then we went to Jazani. It is interesting to walk along narrow trails in a subequatorial dense forest to meet colobuses.
The last stop is the spice plantation, where you can see with your own eyes the spices that we use at home and buy them.. I took excursions on the beach from Raul, everything is well organized.
12 days flew by unnoticed. Again, Flydubai sent us first to Dubai, and only then home. And before my eyes for a long time there will be a wonderful ocean, the picturesque nature of the island. And in winter, flipping through the photo album, African memories will resurrect in my memory and the question will arise: and now where, what corner of nature awaits me?

Kendwa beach is the best in Zanzibar, there are no tides, tides, dead corals, debris, mud, white sand...the service in the hotel restaurant on the beach is good, there is a lot of food and it is varied, which can be improved during your stay at the hotel...the staff is friendly and will help everyone....the only moment....there are a lot of merchants on the beach.... on the first day I was so tired of them....that it was a nightmare, then I got used to it....and once, after bad weather, sea urchins washed up on the beach....naturally, the child stepped on it....the staff quickly helped...therefore, just in case, take either aquashouses or antiseptic with you so that you can then treat the places where the needles hit.... otherwise everything was just great, the beach is gorgeous, I recommend it to everyone!

Thanks to Lilia, the hotel guide, for her help in solving the problem with the air conditioner. While waiting for a new air conditioner, a large fan was brought to us in the Kilwa bungalow. They fulfill all requests very quickly, no pole-pole. The pool near the bungalow is cleaned several times a day. And what a beautiful Indian Ocean here! It's just great that you can swim even at low tide. Just be careful, swim where there is white sand. Not only beautiful multicolored stars live in places with algae, but also dangerous sea urchins with long needles, you can get hurt. There is live music on the beach in the evenings, and barbecue on Saturdays. Once a month, a full moon party is held on the full moon, where people come from all over the island. I would love to come here again!

We went in February 2021. We really liked it. Initially, we bought a 3-star Sunset Beach Resort hotel from the neighbors, too, a good hotel, we also managed to stay there for a couple of days.
I liked Kendwa rock: a huge beautiful territory, very green, delicious food, large portions. A clean, beautiful beach without sea urchins and without algae. On weekends there is a disco with live music, a lot of people gather, it is very atmospheric. Barbecue and buffet.

A good hotel, especially a bungalow in a palm grove on the beach. Friendly staff, good restaurant. The most convenient beach on this coast, does not flood at high tide and at low tide the water does not go far. There is a village with shops nearby, you can and should bargain until you drop. There are also several restaurants in the village. The most important thing is the combination of white sand and the indescribable blue-blue color of the ocean.

I was vacationing near this hotel, we sailed to this hotel every day by boat , I fell in love with the fact that there is a very beautiful green area, a very tasty inexpensive restaurant where octopus is perfectly cooked , the portion was so huge that we ate together + there were French fries and salad for pennies . As it turned out later, there is an excellent hotel at an affordable price, next year we will rush there.
