I was with my girlfriend. Everyone took us for newlyweds. The place is medieval and interesting.
A few years later, the girl stole money from common accounts and common children.
And the castle is cool, I recommend it.
Kolossi Castle – legends preserved in stone
Ancient places are a combination of centuries–old architecture and legends, ruin and renaissance.
Such a landmark of Cyprus is the Kolossi Castle, which is named after the owner of the lands of Garinus de Koloss.
By the end of the 13th century, the castle was home to the hospitallers of the Order of St. John, who considered it their duty to help the pilgrims and protect the Holy Land. The fortress became the stronghold of the Commander of the order.
The Johannites, in addition to serving the Christian order, grew grapes and sugar cane, and created wine. It was here that the taste of the famous alcoholic beverage Commandaria was "born".
In the middle of the XV century, the architecture was changed: expanded, a high tower was erected.
Today it is a popular fortress – a place where every stone tells a story…
