The Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross and the Bernardine Monastery (1595-1618) are the oldest in the city. In architecture, you can see both Gothic and Baroque. The tall bell tower (60 meters) is visible from afar. There is a lot of sculpture and painting in the interior design. So be sure to visit, especially from the site near the church there is a great view of the city. The church is almost always closed, you can only look inside through the bars, so it's better to inspect it after Mass, and check the schedule beforehand.
Judging by previous reviews, it is not always possible to get into this church, but I was lucky. Inside there is a very rich interior, quiet and peaceful. The area is very green and well maintained. You can't take pictures inside, but I couldn't resist, I wanted to capture the beauty of the interior
The church itself is very beautiful. But there is one big THING: the guard kicked us out of there! We came 300km away to see the city, the temples in particular. And we were rudely kicked out of the church, trying to prove that we had violated one of the rules of the temple. Although we did not take photos, the phones were turned off, we did not make noise and did not walk around the church during the service. They did not explain to us why the church was closed so quickly after the service. But they said how "these tourists got me" and "what believers you are." The situation is very unpleasant. This is the first time in my life, although I have visited many different temples of various faiths.
A very beautiful and impressive building, which breathes peace and quiet, although it is located in the city. Excellent view from the site in front of the church... Be sure to visit...
The pros are beautiful from the outside. Cons: the guard didn't let me in twice. For the first time, he said that there was a service and tourists had no place in the temple during the service! The second time, when a heavy downpour with wind began, and we were just next to the temple, the guard closed the door right in front of our noses. I had to take shelter from the rain in the nearest shawarma shop.
A beautiful place and a church and a seminary in one complex, opposite the drama theater. A magnificent place, a lot of flowers, everything is surrounded by greenery
The church is one of the most important in Grodno. Of course, it is not as well-groomed and beautiful as farny, but it is quite interesting for tourists.
We traveled specially from Minsk to see this temple and pray in it. As a result, my two relatives and I were not allowed to go inside, and the parishioner who followed us rudely accused us of not going there to pray, although she was late for prayer. We went there to see the temple and pray, but the guard did not let us go beyond the entrance itself. ONLY GOD IS THE JUDGE OF THIS WOMAN AND THE GUARD!!! AS THEY SAY, DO NOT JUDGE, SO THAT YOU WILL NOT BE JUDGED!!! THEY DIDN'T SEEM TO HAVE HEARD THIS COMMANDMENT!!! The mood was completely ruined; we drove so many kilometers and had such a piggy attitude!!! Thank you so much for at least not being expelled, but allowed to stay at the very entrance. There were no frescoes or icons visible from there. They were sitting under the hateful gaze of the guard. ADVICE!!! Be kinder and more attentive to people! The temple's rating is minimal!!! I do not advise visiting parishioners and pilgrims to come there at all, so that you do not inadvertently spoil the mood for the whole day! Not to let them into the temple in Poland is NONSENSE!!! Poles always give the opportunity to explore their monasteries and pray in them!!!
A very authentic temple. But it was not possible to get into it. No matter how we come, it's closed all the time. We looked at the decoration through the grate.
A notable Catholic very ancient church of the first half of the 17th century. In good condition, the temple itself and the surrounding area are remarkably well maintained.
