A wonderful place! Historically significant! The beauty and energy is unimaginable. Visiting such places, I want to learn more about the history of my native Belarus.
Visit, you will not regret it. The parking lot is really small, but people drive and drive. Of course, it takes a lot of imagination to understand everything here, but what you see is impressive..
We visited the ruins for the first time about six years ago. It is clear that little of the castle's former grandeur has been preserved, but the ruins breathed history... We visited the castle again in 2023. Now it has become more beautiful, after the restoration. But, modern materials used in the reconstruction do not give free rein to imagination and, as it were, replaced the historical spirit with a beautiful view. In any case, it's better to visit and get your share of emotions.....
A 14th-century castle being restored in a picturesque Belarusian town with a centuries-old history. It will also be interesting for fans of the history of the 1st World War. Protracted bloody battles were fought here and the Russian-German front stood for a long time.
If you're in that paradise, it's worth stopping by. A cozy town .rich history . Not far from the castle there is a local resident who has a model of this castle in the courtyard . Plus a huge collection of paintings and other fine things .
In July 2023, excavations were still underway. And restoration. It's impossible to get around. The private sector is adjacent. From the main entrance, the view is very inaccessible. It looks beautiful and majestic
It takes a long time to repair it. I wonder if only the guide can tell me something about his past. And so you can make a circle around it and that's it
We purposefully went to see the castle. We specially learned that excursions start at 14:00. We arrived at 3 o'clock. And then we find out that one guide took the day off, the second one is unavailable, but told the first one that he would not be here today. They are not allowed to enter the castle without a guide - restoration is underway.
Nearby, on the mountain, there is an "ancient temple". Novodel. Moreover, the entrance to the building is closed with 4 screws.
They were very upset.
There is a cafe nearby, but it works on pre-order and no one informed them about us...
There is another cafe a little further down the road. It's a good one. Parking, the lawn is mowed, there is even something like styling. The menu includes 1 first course, 1 hot dish, 2 side dishes, tea...

It's a beautiful place. Atmosphere. Aura. The scale. Thanks to those who participated and are involved in the restoration of this architectural heritage. I was here with my family at an event recently, I really liked it. Organization, costumes, entertainment. You did well!
I would like to come again when the repair is over. Moreover, the history of the castle is very interesting, despite its condition. And be sure to climb the temple. And show up on the swing.
The scope of the new building is upsetting
And weekends at work

One of the first castles in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, built in the XIV century. To be honest, there is little left of him to this day. However, restoration work is underway. But it will be a new model. Undoubtedly, there is a history left, and this castle has the richest one. Take for example the fact that in the dungeon of the castle, on the orders of Grand Duke Jagiello, his uncle Keistut, a pretender to the grand ducal throne, was strangled. At the same time, Keistut's son, Vitovt, managed to escape thanks to the cunning of his wife Anna. Disguised in a woman's dress, he disguised himself as one of her maids and was able to escape from the assassins who were chasing him.
An impressive castle! An active restoration is underway. Along the wall there are magnificent stands with photos of people and the surrounding area. The tour didn't work out somehow.
Ruins. Some work is going on. Inspection only from the outside. The impression is ambiguous in general. But the fact that they are working on restoration is already pleasing.
A serious piece of history!
It's a pity, we got into the restoration work, we will have to stop by again after their completion!
There are ruins of a pre-Jewish synagogue nearby - I recommend it!
