This year my son graduated from the State Educational Institution "Lyceum of Borisov" physics and math class. I entered a good university, a good specialty, and free tuition in Moscow. I am very grateful for these 2 years that have changed my child's life.
Positive:
1. Learning is difficult, but very interesting. Teachers will always help if you don't understand something. No one has ever said that I do not have time or contact tutors if it is difficult and not clear.
2. Lyceum is a big family in which children are treated very respectfully. For the first time, I was surprised when applying for admission, how easily and respectfully the lyceum students communicated with the teachers. The second time, when my son studied for a year, we came in the summer for some kind of certificate. 3 teachers met in the foyer and each approached his son and asked how he was doing and how to help.
3. I was also pleasantly surprised that after entering the 10th grade, the team is new, and several Saturdays we held interesting events with children that unite and unite children.
4. Students are encouraged to pursue a good education. This is not only a lot of interesting lessons in the profile (in the case of my son, this is a lot of physics and mathematics), but also additional free classes on Saturdays, in 11th grade and on holidays. Many people may not even need tutors, of course, if there were no large gaps in other schools in previous years.
5. The environment itself helps to learn. When children are focused on learning, when there are no those who disrupt lessons, then it is easier for teachers. They can give more to such students.
6. The lyceum has a very interesting discussion club in English. He used to participate in various international events, but there are no trips due to the coronavirus. But still, participating in it helps to develop spoken English. The teacher who leads him is very strong.
7. There are many activities for active children that allow them to participate in various city and national competitions and contests.
8. Most teachers are really pros.
There were 2 teachers who, to put it mildly, did not like, but one quit a year ago, and the other… Her son has good knowledge of her subject, so a year of "doing nothing" in this lesson and claims on her part did not prevent her from passing this subject well at the final exam without preparation. It's a good thing she's only been with him for one year. These were not specialized subjects, so it didn't bother me much.
And a little thanks to the teachers:
- Physics teacher, our homeroom teacher Huseynova Elena Alexandrovna. Her son, thanks to her, fell in love with this subject. This is important, of course, but for me it is also very important how he has changed in general. He became more sociable, plus there was some inner strength and confidence in his future. And these tea parties and birthday greetings, a cool New Year, congratulations from the guys on February 23, and from the girls on March 8. These warm memories will remain for a lifetime.
- Mathematics is also at a very high level. Thanks to Natalia Alexandrovna Puchilo.
- My son has always had problems with the Belarusian language To the teacher of the Belarusian language and literature, Elena Viktorovna Pie, thank you for your patience and help.
- Computer science. Astakhova Olga Sergeevna is a very strict and fair teacher who gives good knowledge. I have heard only good things from my son, although I know that there were dissatisfied students in other classes. But this is all because of the high requirements for knowledge of the subject.
- Thank you very much to the teacher of Russian language and literature Zakharova Victoria Nikolaevna too. When my son was in an ordinary school, I did not understand why children were not taught to understand works, as they taught me at school. Why does the teacher say that children are different now and they are not interested in reading and discussing what they have read. After all, literature is a very important subject. She teaches you to think, teaches you to see both the good and the bad, because life consists of different moments. Literature helps you to live and understand the situations that happen to you or may happen in the future in your life. I am grateful to the literature teacher at the lyceum, who taught the children the way they taught me at school. I was very glad when I heard that my son started reading and talking about what he had read. This is something that was sorely lacking in a simple school.
- And of course I am grateful to all the teachers who taught my son.
Cons:
There are none for me.
I just don't understand why many teachers of other schools, instead of advising children to try to enter the lyceum, begin to dissuade them from doing so. They say that the teachers at the lyceum are no different from them and do not give students much knowledge. After talking with familiar parents, I heard similar stories from different schools in the city, where they advise me to stay at my school rather than enroll in a stronger lyceum. Why don't they understand that they spoil many children's future.
It is not true. Most of the lyceum teachers are very strong. And if a child is going to enroll in a good university, which will then be much easier to study than after a simple school, then it is worth considering admission to a lyceum.
I am glad that my son studied in the 10th and 11th grades at the lyceum, and not at a regular school.
By the way, all the students of our class entered the university this year.
P.S. I hope that my review will help future tenth graders make their choice. By the way, you can also enroll in an already formed class if someone has dropped out. Of course, after passing the exams.
And I wrote about my physics class, I can't say anything about the others.
A disgusting place, a philological class with mathematics 5 days a week instead of normal training in specialized subjects. Teachers are weak and incompetent, with sadistic tendencies a lot. It is a pity that I had to visit this "educational" institution.
