It is definitely worth visiting Istanbul. There is a courtyard nearby, where an old Turk came up to us and began to tell a story in English. It seems that the temple was erected as a prototype of Hagia Sophia, to test architectural solutions, the main thing is the dome. So this is a smaller copy, admission is free and there is no queue.

Like most of the surviving Byzantine churches, the Church of Saints Sergius and Bacchus became the Kuchuk Hagia Sophia Mosque. It is not as majestic because of its relatively modest size as St. Sophia, but it sincerely impresses and surprises with a "lively" kind clean bright energy and we felt the "prayer" of this place. And the inscriptions on the frieze of the columns remind of the Byzantine era. ps. against the background of Istanbul's sharply more expensive attractions, admission is free...(so far...0
