Everything is terrible there, the food is not tasty and expensive, the workers are rude and children work there 🧒 the ice is bad. Children are allowed in the evening session.
A very impressive place, with its own atmosphere, unique mountain landscapes. There are fast food outlets, and there is a national cuisine higher up in the mountains. Another place is remembered for the fact that, for example, there is Tereshkova Peak, which must certainly be conquered, other historical figures have also been noted here. In general, I definitely recommend you to visit, a lot of emotions and impressions that will be filled for a long time if not for a lifetime are guaranteed)
It is a very picturesque place that I always visit when traveling to Almaty. It is surrounded by mountains, near several trails for walking through gorges, hot springs, cafes, etc. You can get there by public transport or taxi. There is a cable car nearby, which allows you to get to the ski resort "Shymkent". If you don't ski, you can just walk along the Talgar pass - the beauty is incredible!
A truly wonderful place! I love mountains and ice skating, it's just ecstasy! The ice is smooth, there are a lot of staff members who keep order, music is playing, there are trailers, you can have a snack without taking off your skates.
The only thing that slightly overshadowed the visit was the inaccurate rented skates. It was hard to ride at first, but then I got used to it. Be sure to bring plenty of socks, as the skates are very wide (or my foot turned out to be narrow for them).
In general, we were satisfied, we went to the earliest session, there weren't many people at all (by Moscow standards)
The place is a must-visit in Alma-Ata. It was in the summer. Beautiful view, unforgettable emotions. We quickly climbed to the top. There are not so many people. Then we walked along the hiking trails near Medeo.
There is a place to eat, sit and drink coffee. There are no prices so big. There is a fairly large parking lot for cars near Medeo.
A wonderful location for walking and relaxing.
Alatau
The city of Almaty (you can't get used to it, Alma-Ata pronounces the language itself) is located at the foot of the majestic Alatau mountain range. The most famous alpine skating rink of the Soviet Union, Medeu, is located here and continues to operate. Today, the city has already come close to the highlands and we got to Medeu by bus. And then the cable car to the snow-capped peaks of Alatau…
Only mountains can be better than mountains! Words are powerless here.
And the opening of the day was a cable car cabin with a transparent floor. This has never happened to us before: it's scary, beautiful, and to the point!
It is best to go early in the morning. There are plenty of parking spaces for cars on the street. There is a closed parking lot, but in August 2024 it was closed for repairs. Tickets can be purchased in advance online or at the on-site ticket office. The ascent for 1 adult, by cable car with 2 transfers, costs 5000 Tenge. To climb to the Bogdanovich glacier, you need to prepare. The entire ascent into the mountains goes over rocks, so you need shoes with a tenacious sole, preferably special boots. It is also advisable to have sticks and a supply of drinking water. A jacket, glasses and a cap are required. Rating 4 due to the ill-considered organization of the repair work, the lack of information tables and indexes. A very unpleasant impression was left from boarding and riding in the elevator cabin. Many visitors, pushing each other away and despite the queue, rush to take seats, children run around the cabin, drink, eat, climb with their feet on the seat and no one makes a remark to them. There are a lot of tourists from different countries and this behavior spoils the whole impression of this beautiful place.
A beautiful, magical place! Gorgeous cable cars. There are closed booths, there are open "benches", the sensations are the most vivid in the open... pleasant mountain silence, delicious air and stunningly beautiful views!!!
The lift consists of three stages. The cost for an adult on a weekday round trip is 5000 tenge.
For me, Medeo is a complex of kind and warm impressions. We used to come here as children to ride, swim in the pool in the summer, bring and show to relatives and friends. We walk up the health ladder, relax in the shade of trees, breathe in nature and the beauty of this place. Everyone who has ever been here has a photo on the background of the Medeo sign. This is a place that has not changed over the years. And riding on a cable car and flying over Medeo from above, I am glad that my childhood memories still live in my memory. And everything remained as before! It is a pity that travel on the road has become quite expensive, because it becomes harder to conquer this staircase over the years. But downstairs you can always treat yourself to honestly earned ice cream.
Melko is one of the best places I've ever been, about the obedience of Almaty - a must-visit!
Like it:
1. The view from the mountains, it's fantastic!! There are 2 levels that you can climb on a cable car, and from the second you can go on an open cabin, I recommend it to everyone!
2. Cafe, especially on the second level, there is a beautiful view of the mountains, quite a sufficient menu, but a horse price tag, but personally I am ready to pay for it
3. The whole infrastructure put together - everything works, clearly, quickly
I didn't like it:
There is no such thing here
A place that everyone should definitely visit, but do not stop, but use it as a start for climbing a cable car in the Shembulak gorge. Of course, it is better to visit the Medeu skating rink itself in the season when there is an opportunity to skate. There is a complete order with parking, there are many options and places, it does not hit the pocket. From the skating rink, you can walk up to the anti-mud dam for free, it is also interesting, but physically expensive, not everyone will come in. I definitely recommend it as a skating rink in the season or as a transit point when climbing Shembulak.
An ice rink in the middle of the mountains, pleasant music, and there are small catering outlets on site where you can have a snack. But all the advantages are covered by a terrible organization.
Sessions last for several hours, so by the middle of the day the ice is in the potholes. There are a lot of people, especially on weekends, the administration does not control it in any way. It's difficult to ride in a crowd, you always bump into someone, especially considering that many people ride against the grain. There are also always those who are not very confident riding, and reckless drivers who accelerate, try to do tricks, crash and drop people. My friend broke his arm because of one such reckless driver. Again, the administration does not monitor such behavior, does not distinguish between zones for high-speed and slow skating.
By and large, everything is cool here, what to say. There are small problems with logistics in the evening, it can become difficult to get home by bus, travels less often than in the afternoon, so the price of the oo goes there in the evening, there are a lot of people. So coming back from there is a special pleasure. If you go by car, taxi, on your own, in general, then everything is good. The lifts are working, there is an eco taxi to Cimba and back. The most popular tourist destination. On weekends, in particular on Sunday, there are a lot of people there
You definitely need to come here and it's better to read something before visiting, even at the Wikipedia level, in order to navigate the area. It is more interesting to go to the upper observation deck up the hill on foot, but you will need comfortable shoes and readiness for a little physical exertion. The place is beautiful, energizes, and the altitude, combined with the purest air, perfectly cleanses the head of worries and doubts.
A great place for outdoor activities.Ice rink. There are morning, afternoon and evening sessions.Skates can be taken both at the entrance and inside. But it's cheaper downstairs. I was glad that no one interferes with anyone. There is a zone for beginners, and there is one for fans of playing hockey.Music is playing, changing rooms, benches, you can relax. In general, I was satisfied.Come and have a lot of fun.
It's a long way from the city, but nature and the air are worth the time spent on the road. The staff is very polite and pleasant. The equipment is at the highest level. There are a lot of cafes for every taste and budget. Very clean.
The photo shows the view from the cable car. It's a very cool place. We always come here when we are in Almaty. We will definitely skate on our next visit. I really like spending time here: the beauty of nature, clean air, and just a wonderful atmosphere. I can look at the mountains for hours))) A fascinating sight👍
This is a great place for skiing , cheesecakes, funicular and ski lift, for hanging out in cafes and restaurants, for quiet walks in the mountains, for cycling in summer and extreme skiing too)), it is beauty and comfort. I love Honey
It's a beautiful place. The ice rink is the simplest, the ice quality is good. Many establishments have appeared nearby, you can drink tea and coffee. The lift to the Cimbulac is not far away. I recommend it for tourists to visit.
The place is certainly significant, not only within the framework of Almaty, but also throughout Kazakhstan. It is very convenient that buses run very often. There is also a large parking lot, charming nature and breathtaking views of the complex itself from the cable car or from the surrounding slopes
It's a very beautiful place. I was here 43 years ago and was glad to visit this place again. Nature has done its job, the honey has become even more beautiful. I didn't have enough equipment, for example, toilets, urns. It would be possible to place information about this legendary place on the observation decks (the history of the rink, its great sportsmen, the history of Medeu itself). It's interesting, people would study information while resting.
We came to Almaty on the APR 250, we got to Medeu on the last day of the visit before the flight, so there was not much time. The 12th route of the city bus was smartly taken to Medeu itself. The lift to Cimbulak is open until November, there is a taxi for 3 thousand tangas, but we decided to limit ourselves to the observation deck and climb the stairs ourselves. We carried all our backpacks with us, and warm jackets too, because we were already in full gear for the flight On the way we rested 20 times (there are platforms), we regretted that we did not take a taxi, but we overcame the ladder and ourselves. It's a small thing, but it feels good. As a reward, there are very beautiful views from above of the skating rink and the mountains. It's easier to go down, I counted ~ 824 steps, the most difficult thing was to go down the asphalt after them, but if you don't hurry like we do, you can have more fun!)
No doubt a legendary place, I have long wanted to skate, circle around the mountains, fresh air, on beautiful, smooth ice.
It came true, I took a ride. But if it wasn't for the service, the high rental price is very high compared to other rentals, the inventory is dead, the blades are blunt. If it had been sharpened, it wouldn't have smelled, and I wouldn't have worried about the price.
I changed my skates 3 times to somehow ride and not slide like a cow on ice. We have a lot of skating experience and skills, and we know how to ride.
In general, it's a great place, but with your own skates or from another rental.
The location of the facility is very favorable. Being among the mountains, you can enjoy the purest air. The landscape is so picturesque that you can fill an entire gallery with photos. Perfect cleanliness is maintained here.
Medeu is the "Middle-earth" between the city and the mountains, from here you can take a cable car to a height of 3200, or walk wherever you can on the way) and in Medeu itself there is a large stadium, an ice rink is open in winter until the beginning of March, there are several cafes and restaurants around, in any case, the place is interesting and atmospheric, even if we did not plan to go to the mountains, such thoughts will definitely appear when climbing to Medeu
Oooh very beautiful, cool, majestic!!!
I visited today for the first time and did not regret it. All people are polite and friendly. The staff takes care of you (yes, with a capital letter, because that's how the employees of this complex treat you). The prices are acceptable, the beauty is INDESCRIBABLE!!!
To visit Alma-Ata and not go to the Medea is blasphemy. I recommend it to everyone.
It is a very beautiful place to ride in the mountains in the evening, what could be better.
Among the disadvantages, the sessions are not always comfortable, the skates are of average quality, there is little space with food
But for those who will be in Kazakhstan, the place is a must-visit
Stunning views, the nature is magnificent. Excellent skiing infrastructure, many cafes and restaurants. The cable car is great, everything is new, it was only 1 day, but I really liked it.
I just fell in love with this place. A beautiful high-altitude sports complex, with a cool descent, a cable car and friendly cafes. Even if you have never stood on skis and a board, come for a walk, appreciate the majestic landscapes of the mountain range, ride the cable car.
Despite the large number of people, you can always find free tables and booths. The prices at the top are not cheap, but they are quite adequate.
The best alpine skating rink in the world, without a doubt! Yes, they were able to build top-class sports facilities in Soviet times! Unforgettable impressions of what they saw: happy and joyful people, clean air, the same ice. It's just fantastic! And skating in a place where the world and USSR records were repeatedly beaten is also a special personal feeling, or something! Complete delight!
The pearl of Almaty, the most favorite place, so there are always a lot of people here). Gorgeous mountains, the purest mountain air, a magnificent ice rink. You just have to come on weekdays.
A great place to relax, easy to reach, well-developed infrastructure, activities for children with excellent views, combined with a funicular on Shimbulak. I recommend at least half a day
Cool ice rink! If you go in the morning, you can ride quite well. There are already a lot of people by lunchtime. But the ice is not bad. There is a children's area, big people come in there and start chasing, but the workers kick them out
It's a great place! I live near the Caucasus Range myself, it's hard to surprise me with the mountains) but there's something charming about the local mountains) I probably liked the dense coniferous forest and the amazing coniferous smell the most! And in general, there are only positive memories of visiting this location!
The alpine pearl and landmark of the city of Almaty. Beautiful view of the mountains.
You can get to Medeu by regular bus.
A funicular has been built from Medeu to climb to Cimbulac
THIS IS THE SOVIET LEGACY!!! THE PRIDE OF KAZAKHSTAN!! Being there is a dream of a distant childhood! A beautiful place, amazing nature.
Thank you for the wonderful moments!!!
Super! Impressive views! Clean air! Nice serpentine road! Cozy rooms! You can go snowboarding, skiing, and drink delicious tea! Beautiful views! Cool locations! A beautiful, safe cable car! Take tenge with you, other money is not accepted, you can try visa cards, the world does not work (at the time of publication)
As a student, we often visited. This is where we first learned to skate. The air is clean. On weekdays, there will be less people if you go to InshaAllah.
There are cafes and cafes around, so take something to eat and drink with you.
You can go not only to skate, but also to admire the wonderful nature, admire the power of God. There is an opportunity to go up the stairs.
