The museum is wonderful! There are interesting exhibits, an informative exposition, and beautiful wooden carvings. And very good guides. The ability to tell stories in such an interesting way to keep the children's attention is really a talent. Although we were on our own, we were happy to listen to two young guys who were guides.
The house of the merchant Groshikov in 1897, he built a mansion in the center of the Branch Line, corresponding to the importance of his person. The two-storey brick building in the Gothic style, magnificent at that time, was erected on a high basement. Today, the restored house of Timofey Groshikov, an Old Believer merchant, is included in the list of historical and cultural values of Belarus. And it is here that the famous museum of Old Believers and Belarusian traditions has been located for many decades. @vetkamuseum
Collections of unique Old Believer icons, handwritten and printed books, the largest collection of regional textiles (towels, elements of traditional costume, etc.) make the Vetkovsky Museum a unique phenomenon in the Belarusian and Old Believer culture.
There are permanent exhibitions on three floors of the Vetkovsky Museum, which present the artistic culture and creativity of several folk traditions of the region in the south-east of Belarus. First of all, it is the culture of the Orthodox Belarusian village and the Old Believer Branch, the center of the schism of the late 17th and 18th centuries.
In November 2022, a new exhibition hall was opened in the museum.,
The museum is fascinating, unusual and well-sanctifying the life of the Old Believers! Unique icons, embroidery and books! A very informative tour, a knowledgeable guide who spoke interestingly about the life of the indigenous people! I advise you to visit, you will learn a lot!
