The Turkish city of the World is an ancient place with a difficult fate. According to one version, the town owes its name to the resin (myrrh) from which incense is produced, according to another version, the name of the town comes from the Etruscan word "Maura", which means "place of the mother goddess".
The town was repeatedly destroyed, but then it was built again.
Modern Demre is the center of Turkish pilgrimage for many Orthodox tourists. This is the city where St. Nicholas the Wonderworker lived and preached, which, by the way, is not by chance one of the symbols of this city.
It is located near the modern city of Demre, one hundred and forty kilometers from Antalya and one hundred kilometers from Kemer.
Место красивое, впечатляет! Конечно, рекомендую к посещению. Где ещё увидишь такие древние развалины!У каждой страны есть свои достопримечательности, надо посещать.Впечатления на всю жизнь, хотя была там в 2011г.
